If you weren't aware, this song is actually from a Disney movie called Let It Shine. It was about a boy who dreamed of being a rapper but was afraid of telling anyone about it because his father was a preacher and his father despised rap (or anything that would "stray" someone from the bible). When he sends in a song for a contest, his best friend is mistaken as the artist called Truth and he ends up helping his friend pretend that he is the artist. Their childhood friend who became a famous singer helps the best friend build up his career while the real artist begins to fall in love with her. The boy begins having doubts about the facade and becomes angry when his best friend starts using his fame to flirt with girls, despite knowing that their singer friend has been developing a crush on Truth (sometimes the real Truth would secretly step in and he'd manage to romance the singer). At some point, the boy realizes that he will either continue living unhappily in the shadows or he must risk it all and reveal the truth about who he really is to his father, the girl he loves, and his fans.
