I can’t thank you enough for making this video. I literally cried like baby through the entire video. I knew exactly where you were at every corner This is MY HOME, where I grew up and had the mozt beautiful childhood, EVERYONE knew EVERYONE. There was no north or south side back then, we just call it “”the other side of the boulevard” We would sing under the EL (train) because it had the best acoustics, oh my gosh I miss those days desperately I grew up on 39th Ave. and 46 street which is Sunnyside Towers you didn’t go down that far that was like the newest building in the area at the time and probably still is, they had the only swimming pool in the neighborhood and they had air conditioning units in the apartments and it was just such a beautiful building and neighborhood. My best memories of my entire life, is growing up in Sunnyside, it really has changed tremendously it’s not like it used to be but it’s beautiful still and there’s so much that they offer now and that Chase Bank was always was like that it went from one side of fQueens Boulevard to Greenpoint you could walk right through just to let you know..When you were walking, just to let you know also, Woodside starts at 50th St. Again thank you so much and I hope you can post more videos, you should really go down to Sunnyside Gardens it’s beautiful down there past Skillman Avenue to 39th Ave

Wow. A lot of history to be told. Very interesting. I was just there this morning. There were Spanish dancers on the street. Just out side of keys grocery.

Very nice video! I lived on 42-15 43rd Avenue by 43rd Street back in the 1980's and still think about how much I missed living there. I felt safe in the neighborhood even though it had that city/urban borough vibe. The look and feel is the same after all these years. The White Castle, BK, Ariyoshi, McDonalds, the Mobil station, and Wendy's are still there too! But, I missed the old diners and Wellworth's. The number 7 subway was convenient and decent ride to Mid-town. Well done with this Sunnyside tour...thanks!!

You're so kind. It would be nice to see the section between 40th and 44th along 47th Ave. The old park is there and Peters Impressions Hair Salon which just closed after 50 plus years. One last time. Have a safe trip and enjoy NYC!

Very nice video of Sunnyside. I had spent some time there, when I was in New York. It is a lovely place, actually a mid-sized town, if it were standing by itself. Now it is becoming a prime location, and prices will go up. It is also one of the few neighborhoods that did not decline. Sunnyside used to be an English middle-class neighborhood, where mostly English people who worked in Manhattan lived. There was a Romanian community in Sunnyside for many years; they had their church and restaurants there. The Irish were in Jackson Heights and Bushwick, and the Greeks were in northern Astoria and the Germans in southern Astoria. Hispanics and Germans began moving into Sunnyside as well as Asians. The South American drug lords and gangs moved into Jackson Heights and drove many residents away. Somehow, Sunnyside survived the crime. Maybe the residents were not so eager to leave so they stood their ground. Besides, where would they go to? Nothing changed, northern Sunnyside is mostly residential with Sunnyside Gardens and the residential complex, which is a historical landmark. Southern Sunnyside is the central business district. Further below and to the west you find more residential areas as well. Your daughter is very fortunate to live there. I just have a feeling that prices will keep on going up. It's such a nice place to live.

Wow, a lot of information that I don't know. I love Sunnyside. It is very convenient. It was up and coming in 2013 when my daughter moved there. Seems like it is still up and coming. Businesses still come and go. Love the idea that there is a Starbucks there now. I always think that when Starbucks move in....it means the neighborhood is developing. Thank you for watching my video. Have so much fun doing it.

@@eastwestpicayune8200 A few years ago there used to be a few travel agencies on 46th Street. They all closed down. One of them was located next to the Parisian Bakery. The fruit & vegetable stores are still there. The Parisian Bakery used to be a regular American-style coffee shop. Rite Aid is still there. The Romanians were always there, probably since day 1. Starbucks will certainly turn Sunnyside up and coming, but that means prices go up. I hope not.

I spent my first 11 1/2 years in Sunnyside! My family lived at 43-33 48th Street, just north of Queens Blvd. We moved to Farmingdale on 3/28/60, where I still live. However, I never lost my feelings for Sunnyside! I attended P.S. 11 for kindergarten, then St. Sebastian's from Grades 1-6, before we moved away.
