I am a huge fan of Ahn Hye-Jin or Hwasa because she is breaking the standards of K-Pop. Mamamoo themselves are artists, not just idols. But Hwasa is not the usual K-Pop idol sho is super skinny, pale, and cutesy. Being the maknae of their group, she is the sexiest and have the most confidence to show skin (on par with Solar, maybe haha). But this girl...she is just carrying the K-pop industry on her shoulders while giving the haters a big F you because she's "too tanned" or "too chubby" or "too ugly" - which she isnt. She is just amazing.

it was so fun watching you react to this vid im a huge fan of this song. just to answer couple of your questions from the vid, the artists' name is 'hwasa', she's one member of a group called 'mamamoo'. and in the song, maria is a double entendre not just referring to the viewer as "maria" partly a catholic reference, but also in Korean the phrase that translates to "i'm telling you" sounds like "maria" when you say the phrase in korean, "mah-ree-ah" so might make more sense if you relisten to the parts she's saying maria because to Korean speakers, it also sounds like she's saying "i'm telling you" every time she sings "maria". hope this helps!

I think she's talking with the weak Hwasa, who was sad about her apperance, and people like this. Is a strong message against Korea beauty standards. Hwasa's considered completely out of this: her face is out of the "perfect" shape, she's not slim (wtf, koreans?), her skin is dark (wtffffffffffff), she doesn't has the "8 heads" (another rule to be considered beautiful) etc.
But she IS beautiful, powerful, charismatic, sings perfectly and, well... Mamamoo is one of the most liked kpop groups in Korea. None of the girls are perfect considering the Korea beauty standard, but they sing like... Fuck, they're queens, that's all.
