Hasbro stock as of 11/4/24 at 10:46 a.m. cst: $66.54usd up .72 cents (+1.09%) today. THAT being said...I reiterate... Things won't change till we hit them in the pocket book. I'm only buying singles I need and that few and far between. I might buy the doubling season if the price falls. :) Have a good day gang. Thanks Mox man for all you do :)
1:01 I have to respectfully disagree with you here. It's good that we have more reprints on standard sets, and specially I think it fits for these core/introductory sets, it allows old cards new opportunities in standard and keeps down power creep and complexity. It's not viable to do so many new cards specially with current printing schedule. For example I liked how back in Dominaria we had a bunch of goblins reprinted from old standard, gives a chance to us old fogies to dust off old cards for a new spin... Anyways, boomstick!
Red rush wins on turn two. The leyline ban didn't even slow it down and the new combat rule won't either. Nothing will downgrade power level anymore and so the low power core set is strictly useless in standard. There are good cards for commander yes, but a new player should buy regular rotating standard cards if they want to play to win.
Unlike other sets, Foundations has the benefit that it will be in standard for at least 5 years. When a format is to overpower, you need to bring power down, eventually the more broken cards will rotate out and the cards they released in the following sets would have paved the path to a more balanced and diverse format. Same thing happened when original Mirrodin came out, then Kamigawa was considered weak in comparison... When eventually Mirrodin rotated out, the Kamigawa-Ravnica standard was one of the most diverse, healthy and fun environments ever being
With the holiday season upon us I'll definitely be skipping this and hope it drops in price. I'm not worried if I miss out either next year is going to be insane
FOMO on a set being sold for 5 years?! I can understand a bundle maybe because those don't really get reprinted as much, but boost boxes and starter collection are going to be on shelves in until 2035. Same way you can easily find Core Sets today.
Definitely waiting until after the Prerelease window is up. I like to browse the singles the day or two after release. Watch the prices start to go down. Then I jump in while there is inventory. We'll see if we can get the Sire of Seven Deaths or maybe a playset.
The one piece card game I know in my area is definitely putting a damper on how many cases are being open because a lot of the guys who play magic on this one piece and I bet if you talk to your LGS is, I’ll tell you the same thing it’s actually crazyhow viral it is and I thought it was just gonna go away after a couple months
Over time, the cards should be plentiful since it should be in print for quite some time. There are some good cards in this set. I will wait to buy some singles. I did preorder one bundle for $33.99 and some take home kits for drafting. SO, I did not buy that much at all. Shop Smart, Shop As Smart. Thank you for the video Mox Man. Yes, There should have been a bunch of new cards.
I went in heavy on foundations pre orders but I'm a returning player with no collection to build from already in place. Stopped playing back in college and sold the collection I had. The world of Magic seems super turbulent right now but it is just as fun as I remember and I'm hopeful that Foundations is as good as a lot of folks are claiming.
As all sets full of reprints i generally go really cautios with preorders. I generally wait bigger stores buy first and test the products. Also this should be a products that should be available for multiple years ( in theory) so in the end should be always be availability for re order. I will have to order some jumpstart actually that looks quite good overall.
my local Game Store said, that he loves to have a set that is great for beginners. 20€, 50€, 90€ and 140€, just for everybody who is starting, starting again or buildung up. I get it that it is not what you guys want, One of my friend is also on hold, cause he has tones of cards. But he is buying Displays all the Time.
i think this being marketed to new players is why there are not many preorders. new players (at least from what i have seen ) aren't going to buy entire sealed boxes, and i don't blame them i would not spend over 150$ on a game i am just getting into. and older players are likely waiting to spend money on other sets coming out next year. that being said i don't know much about the economics of MTG Market.
The buying of the secret lair was just abysmal today. Tried to stick it out, but just gave up. I'll have to try to get later or maybe not. I did pick up some foundations cards I like and ordered them, double season will be MINE! LOL
My logic with this new set is: I only want the kitty doubling season. I don’t need this card. I will wait until next year to see if SpongeBob is good enough to buy, and if not, I’ll pick up doubling season when it’s gone as low as it can go.
This SL drop has been the biggest JOKE Moxman. Ive been in line since 1106am, 7 minutes short of 4 hours in line. Most foils are sold out and i still have 51 minutes until im up. This is my first and my last time going for a SL.
If foundations plummets they will try to make their money back off nostalgia with Lorwyn and other beloved sets the year after. “We learned our mistakes guys here’s magic IP we changed” and players need to remember all this BS with their wallets and ignore it. Remember if they do it once they’ll do it again. They don’t change. Buy the singles you want when they drop and if it’s an expensive card proxy the multiples you need. There are a ton of high grade proxy makers out there. They have shown it’ll be reprinted.
The market price doesn't lie dude. Collector boxes already hitting 255 usd on tcgplayer, doesn't happen because people aren't buying them.... that's more than bloomborrow and duskmourn currently.
I would be totally okay with sets like foundations that are 90% reprints that are aggressively priced. Instead, every single set for Hasbro has to be ridiculously profitable for some reason. They are killing their golden goose instead of nurturing it.
@@Donsjohnsoni was on the ball, and lucky from what ive heard. I refreshed the page at 0:01 sec to launch, had my items in cart and hit checkout within the first 60 seconds. I was "in queue" at 9:01 and had my purchase put through at 11:37am pst. 1xStorm Foil, and 1xWolverine Foil ordered successfully.
@@wgdjoefraserNice! I waited over 3hrs for the “session to time out” so I didn’t get anything. I’m honestly just done with WOTC at this point. I plan on selling my collection bc this is disgusting
You never experienced core sets before and it shows. What a load nonsense, yet again. Ppl going on about being scammed in comments section of scam video content, oh the irony. Its a couple videos now since became aware of the channel, oh man, the rubbish lvls are obsurd and ppl just lap it up like its gold🤣🤣🤣
Collectors will be limited for sure. But also, who cares? If you want to buy sealed to sit on it with plans to resell later, go for it. But from a players perspective, I could not care less about foundations collector boxes.
SINGLES... BUY SINGLES A MONTH AFTER RELEASE!!!! If anyone has watched even a few openings of the collector boxes of this set, you'll know that the mana foils are opened in every box and the fractured foils are the only chase. It also seems that there arent really that many new cards here. Don't waste your money on FOMO!!!

Why would you spend money on foundations now? They will have to sell it for 5 years.. Prices will be cheap if you wait
Waiting really will pay off if you have the patience
1) Cuz I wanna try to sell some singles on tcg before they drop
2) Cuz I like having the shiniest newest thing thats released
3) Cuz I'm an mtg fanboy
Exactly 👍

Merry Monday MoxManiacs!!!!
And to you as well, Cheers
I'm sure foundations will do just like every other core set in recent history.
Looks like it is headed that way
Than it will be the best, cause there were no Core sets. 😇
I agree our store asked if we wanted and no one bit the bullet to get a box other than bundles

The Marvel Astonishing Foil bundle isn't discounted as a bundle.

well said.
I plan to play pre release. Should I do two?
I'm rejecting everything after the Secret Lair thing happened Monday
is that a backlash from the bans in edh?
wow... i just want a box to draft with friends... wonder if i should wait the 🤔 saving extra $$$ is always a plus
I will likely buy packs, but I am more interested in Jumpstart boxes then Play Booster boxes.
I think is a hit. 350 good cards for 50 bucks in the starting kit for me is a good deal.

With all the UB announcements for next year I doubt people will spend a lot of money on a boring actual MTG set.

Anyone fomoing over the play boxes are delusional.
The collectors boxes are real as fuck though.
Narfle the garthok!
Boomstick 💢
Standard should have a ceiling of $20.... Make it easy to get into.
Many cards will be quite affordable but a few will defy logic
This set looks really dull. Doubling Season lottery I guess.
" Buy singles" " buy singles don't buy packs! " And now singles are expensive because nobody buys packs or sealed as much... SCHOCKER LMFAO 😂
It's more because draft is dead. Most singles historically came from people drafting. Not buying boxes, cracking and selling everything.
When EV is so much lower than what you actually pay, the math says singles.
