  • In this lesson I will show you a very cool linear Hihat Lick. This lick is inspired by the great Ash Soan, who uses these kind of licks with stepped Hihats and Ghost Notes quite a bit.

Great lesson . Awesome groove . Hi hat work is so important. This will definitely add some new dynamics . . This kind off a lesson adds so much to our hi hat playing. And gives us a lot of new material to learn and practice. Thanks as always

@@DailyDrumLesson It's not at the moment. The house sitting fell through; my uncle got sick, so I haven't had an opportunity to get behind a set with no one around (one of my prerequisites : ) Just saw the new video is up! Probably won't get to it until tomorrow though. Can't wait!

Some very inspiring input again! Doing the hi hat like that is so much neglected and underrated, but it grooves like hell :):) Thank you so much for your awesome lessons!

    Dude,
    Great contribution as always.
This lick is quite new for me, thanks for library. Also thanks for intro of Ash, I will check details for the channel
Just one note for technique: during the orchestration, you are raising your right wrist (to control the bounce I presume), which needs a lot of practice to return to the original position to linearize the hi-hat, and best way to do it from my own experience is playing against a mirror or video recording
Looking to see more from you,
    Regards,

Thank you for the lesson ! As a new drummer I wanted some confirmation : do you play double strokes on the hi-hats for the 32th (during the lick) but just single stroke (accented, it seems) for the 16th notes ?
