I must admit, I got excited when I heard those European Starlings screeching. I once raised a starling that had fallen out of the nest. It was covered in ants when my mom found it, so she called me to come save it. He lived several years after that. Being in the mynah bird family, they can mimic sounds. He sounded like a poorly recorded tape of me saying, “You’re a good bird. Such a good bird. Yes you are.” Then a signature whistle I came up with to teach him. He really was a good bird! That pen, not so much. But I am tempted to pick up the Parker 25 they have on Peyton Street Pens right now.
Thanks Chris, for an interesting review and another step forward in appreciating the wonderful world of ALL pens. Looking forward to the others in your pipeline. 👋👋🇨🇦
Very interesting pen. Thank you for the review! It looks like it writes kind of like the wingsung 601 with the barrel nib: like a well-flowing sharpened pencil LOL. That has become one of my most favorite nib/ writing experiences.
Chris, the Parker made a line that looked a bit skippy to me. How did you experience it? Ok, there are factors in pens that some folks find grand, others find deal breaking, like how many turns it takes to remove the cap, and whether the ink sits around the collar when bottle-filling the pen. Big deal. I like the lower-cost pens you've sent me, and the multi-hundred dollar pens that I got from other sources. Some pricy pens have horrible nibs and nonfunctional clips, while some Chinese imitations are at least as enjoyable as the very costly models they imitate. Thanks for pointing out the similarities and the differences. Your honesty and perceptiveness are always welcome.
Although I like my pens to have a little more pizazz in the looks department, I thoroughly enjoyed this video and how you took a pen that visibly snagged on the page, and turned it into a useful writing implement. Did you open up the tines as there was a marked difference in the wetness? I like the bird video. Those Starlings are a quarrelsome bunch, aren't they?
Nice review - especially the destruct of the converter.. I was pondering how to remove the spring. I prefer to use Parker Long cartridges which have a not-too-shabby 1.4 mL capacity. They have the added advantage of a 'reserve' which is effectively a small amount of ink which 'sticks' to the top of the cartridge at the the end... surface tension keeps it there until the cartridge is gently 'flicked' with a finger nail. I refill my empty cartidges using a syringe which enables a wider range of inks to be used than is available in stock cartridges.
Thanks, Chris! I had wondered if those pile of nail files that look like micromesh…spongy in the middle, a whole variety of grits down to essentially smooth, would work for some basic scratchy nib fixing, and you answered the question!! (Could have saved myself $20 on the darn micromesh, oh well!)
lol..come for the pens...stay for the birds!!!! I need to put more seed in as we have resident cardinals and blue jays among others...rarely in the summer some orioles!!!
Great review, personally I got a green one as I always wanted a green Parker 25 but could never get my hands on one. Thankfully the nib on mine wasn't as bad as the nib on yours.
And I JUST bought a Parker 25! 😆 I could have gotten two of these for the price I got that one. I do still want a red one so I think I'll try to buy this. But isn't this Parker model discontinued? In that case, since it's hard to get, this is kinda okay? 😅 Thank you for this review!
Love the Cardinal chirp in the new intro :)

Amazing you raised a starling. It is so good to help out those in need. Peyton Street is a great seller.

Thanks for adding the bird video to the end. I enjoyed it immensely.
Glad you liked the birds! They add some variety to the videos.

Thanks as always, I bought two and also own the Parker. The nibs on my 2 moonman pens did not need smoothing and wrote a nice fine line;
I have found nibs can vary from pen to pen.

The Parker had sat open too long. Nib is usually a consistent writer. I noticed the skips and didn't want to refilm.

I did not open tines. There was more tipping touching paper that produced increased ink flow. Starlings fight a lot.

They are big cartridges. For me 0.8ml in a converter is OK. If I need a larger capacity, I'll use one of my eye dropper pens.

I'm all for the best value solutions. Glad I can share with you.

Gotta find more interesting bits for the videos. Glad you feed your birds.
The Parker 25 is a nice pen, I have one. Not sure why we would need a clone though when we also have a Parker Jotter fountain pen in the marketplace.
I just received mine and had the same issues. I smoothed out the nib and it performed much better.
Great you were able to fix. Thanks for sharing.
Great review, personally I got a green one as I always wanted a green Parker 25 but could never get my hands on one. Thankfully the nib on mine wasn't as bad as the nib on yours.
I have the original Parker, still writes wonderfully well.

Parker 25 discontinues years ago. Buy what you want.
Great review as always. Thank you
I will try the nail file technique. Micro mesh is too expensive here in my country. I could buy 6 Jinhao 82s for that price.
How do I get the right files like you have for smoothing out nibs?
Sold at any supermarket, drug store, usually in cosmetic section, used for finger nails.
Nice review.
Big bird fan here
I do like it
Oh, I thought it will be a bomb shaped pen, because of B-25 Mitchell... Nevermind! 😀
That would be an awesome pen!!
Corporate plagiarism
As all corporation do. I speak from personal experience.
An imitation of a long defunct model from an undead company massively overcharging for its own made in China pens.
