I was the supplyman on DYE 2 from December of 76 until 77 and went to DYE 3 for a bit then went to DYE 4 and was there the day Elvis died. When I was at 2 our supply plane was a DeHaviland Twin Otter OY-ATB. The look of the inside of the station looks more modern than when I was there. I left there in a hurry when I was unloading a 55 gallon barrel of oil into the station and it slipped off the platform and fell down and splattered on the ice. I am sure Felec Services Incorporated will never forget me. I then went to work in Iran for Bell helicopter until the Iranian revolution.

I went and recorded footage of Dye-2 and throughout it for a little over a week while waiting to fly off from there after our traverse in 2015-16. Fascinating place for sure. It was strange seeing all the stuff that was left behind, posters still on the walls and magazines still in the drawers, left in the "library", beers still in the bar, and eggs, canned foods, and such still in the pantry.

Is there any chance that i might be able to get a copy of your recorded footage? It would make an excellent artifact and as the unofficial historian for the DEWLine, I'm always looking for additional information. Check our www.DEWLine.ca.

@@DEWLiner Let me check my agreement with Discovery Channel. I had sold them some video footage last year and need to doublecheck to ensure I'm not stepping on toes.

@@hilltigger Please let me know what you find with the Discovery Channel. If nothing else, I'd really enjoy seeing it privately.

I went to work at DYE 2 in November 1976 as the Supply man. I also worked at DYE 3 for a couple of weeks. Finally went to DYE 4 and was sitting at my typewriter there when word came over the Armed Forces radio that Elvis died.

Hello, I have a wonderful oil painting of DYE 2 (I believe), that I had found in a thrift shop. Is there a dedicated DEW page where I can post it please?

I spent 9 years in the Canadian Dew sector and having watched the video I wonder if the US government has cleaned up the Dye sites or are they slowly disappearing into the ice as someone said like watching the THING movie. I know in Bar 3 Tuktoyaktuk the American Government wanted to give the station to the RCMP but Ottawa as usual was wishy washy about a decision. To bad as the station had a warehouse, garage, hanger and looked over the village plus could handle up to 30 or so people.

4:36 LOL, they had to be trained on it being important to hurry up and not let a fire spread, man they hired some real smart ones if they had to be trained for that LOL.
