- I recently got this Vostok watch from lifestyle shop and wanted to share something a little special about it...
A viewer of mine said that buying half a dozen Vostok watches is like buying half a dozen eggs..lol

Excellent. I've seen this watch on Meranom, and I have to say that your simple modification does transform it to a really bitchen watch. The strap upgrade is real, but those hands really do make it!

Funnily enough bought the exact same watch and bought the same hands !!! Incredible isnt it ??? Well it would be if i wasnt telling fibs, lol. I wouldn't have the patience to change the hands on a watch but it would love to be able too. Gave a watch away to a mate last week because I couldn't read it properly, I would have loved to changed the hands on it, as it was possibly the most comfortable watch on a bracelet I'd ever worn. It was a fila but was all titanium and was an amazing watch for what I paid for it 20 years ago. I'm glad he can make use of it though. I wouldn't mind but he's older than me and has better eyesight , just my luck !!! Lol.
I think that none of those who buy Vostok leaves it alone, there are so many to change and at great prices that you more or less become a watchmaker. Very nice Peter, happy holidays to all.

I just got in a Vostok Komandirski K39 390774 and it's my favorite. I now keep looking on Meramon for my next one. My K39 has a display back case, mineral crystal, and a great rubber strap and I bought an extra orange strap. I'm looking at a Buyalov rr02 red/black

I recently signed up to the meranom website just a couple of days ago - man the different choices they have is crazy as is some of the dials :) I'll definitely be purchasing a Vostok in the new year , some funky looking piece's for £50 or there about's , worth it just to try them out :) have a great day Peter

It looks waaaay better with the new hands, I wish that was that was ODM.
I've got a new special build Vostok field watch being made for me & last night I bought 2 vintage Vostoks, it's all gone a bit Vostok.
I finally got one of those on my wrist
1 after a simple adjustment I got it down to +5 sec / day.
2. paid about $70 (US).
3. amazing compared to sooo many others in the market.

Amazing brand. You can have a collection for the price of a Seiko Presage. Hands slightly incongruous buy at this price that's irrelevant. Nice review as usual.

I got my watchmaker to swap out the hands. He’s the pro, not me..👍
Wooow. Didn't even realize it was a Vostok from the thumbnail. A very decent looking watch indeed. As a guy with a below average sized wrist I wouldn't mind it being 39mm though.
For some reason being relatively thin at 12mm it seems to wear very comfortably,. But I agree with you, if they kept it at 39mm it would have been ideal . Cheers

What was the trick?
Very nice! Does the flat design fit under shirt sleeves better vs the “domed” acrylic models? Is the handset installation easy, or should that be left to a pro?
Pretty straight forward install..if you have done it before, this is pretty easy

I purchased one a year ago.. after 3 months was still waiting, after which I filed for refund. Haven't pulled the trigger on another one...
Yeah I have heard that it takes many months to get one from Russia..
Lucky for me I can access Lifestyleshop here in Melbourne, :)
You might pay a few extra bucks, (pocket change really) but you get the warranty and service required as well as a watch straight off the shelf onto your wrist...Happy days :))

Most things from Russia to Canada is about 3 weeks. Mostly depends what area of Russia as well. I've got things from Ukraine in the same timeframe as things from the U.S.

Peter, If you like the classic paneraiesque styling, check out the amphibian 170962 and 170964 models. They really cool imo. Since i got my first vostok i've pretty much fallen down the rabbit hole, lol.

Vostok, at least on Meranom, recently hiked up some of it's prices considerably... 98% of the models still the same price, but the ones everybody ones are up like 20%

@@PeterKotsa gone for the black dial , looking forward to trying different straps with it . Vostok really are cracking watches . I’m sat wearing a speed master professional the one with the huge box and I’m looking through Vostoks , not many can punch that far above their weight
The design of most Vostoks to me are a bit outlandish but this one looks good, especially with those hands. Peter would you consider modding an expensive watch?

The hands and cheap strap make it look like a goofy Chinese knock off .
What you did really elevated the watch .
It lnow looks like a watch that retails closer to 1 K than the 250 - $300 RRP .

2:00 The original K-43 watch wasn't produced in 1943 (production started in the late 1920s/early 1930s), the 43 referred to its case diameter.
2:17 The vostok replica is actually the smaller watch. The original was actually a pocket watch that had band mounts soldered onto it which is why it was so large.
