These videos are some of the most accessible and clear teachings on the internet. I have been listening for about a year. Some videos I have watched more than 7 times because there is such profundity. Something that "rubs me the wrong way" though is the petty political comments sprinkled in. Why does Trump's name get mentioned so often? I don't vote and I never will so it's not that I have a favorite team whether blue or red. It just doesn't make sense why someone who "gets it", is still caught up in the political fear drama that's being fed to us all.
Thank you for your comment. We all live in circumstances and politics is a circumstance, while we need not suffer in our relationship to circumstances we must act in life and our actions if awake are in the interest of the possibility of well-being for all. The situation in the world is represented by people who are lost in the form and expressing this in speaking and actions. This is what I comment on. Trump is an example of a failed life as a personality. I have compassion for him and the suffering he is experiencing. At the same time he represents the danger of huge destruction and danger to the well-being of humanity. In a awake state the Truth is a baseline for expression and action. It is not what I say the rubs you the wrong way, it is the reactive state of mind that is the source of your suffering.
@@ZenPsych probably. But you are also reactive. I can see my reactivity but I have a feeling that you don't see yours. Spiritual teachers have a very sophisticated way of explaining away the log in thier own eye. All political actors and all governments represent a danger to the well being of humanity, but it's not all politicians that you are name dropping. You have an obvious bias, which is fine, but its the inability to see it and admit to the simple bias that I question. Again it's not the fact that you name drop Trump specifically, but that you show favoritism for one or the other. And also, the Dali lama asked a kid to kiss his tongue on video. Have people seen this? So creepy so gross. Spiritual leaders and politicians are some of the most dishonest and disturbed people around, they gravitate to such positions.
the reason "gurus" teach experiential experiences is to help humans know what they are, HOWEVER, knowing what you are (energy, consciousness, awareness, etc.) is NOT necessary to accomplish the MAIN GOAL of esoteric teachings, which is to ENJOY ALL THAT IS LIFE. So many "gurus" have had experiences and do a practice and they still get irritated, upset, angry, (suffer life instead of enjoying all that is life). A real "guru" (haha) enjoys all that is life and never goes ape shit when life doesn't go his way because he HAS NO WAY LIFE MUST GO. You can tell if you are enlightened (so to speak) if your ENERGY is always, always, always pleasant inside no matter what is happening outside, and the primary way to be there is so simple: RECEIVE ALL THINGS WITH THANKFULNESS. Just say, "Thank you for this experience," no matter what experiences you have. Teach your mind to receive all things with thankfulness and your heart will follow. As to gurus who teach techniques and methods and practices, they REALLY DO IT to have something to do, even though they figure they're helping others.
Trying to convince my mind to be thankful for things it has learned to reject is like putting lipstick on a pig. I can speak validations and affirmations all day long and it will do nothing to change how my mind responds and reacts to conditions it doesn't like.
It all sounds good, but I think it's for people who already are "successful", already have all the basic Maslow's hierarchy met. How can I enjoy life if I know I'll be spending the most of it at work and just to have my basic needs met?
I found myself doing Thai chi. Train body and mind will follow. When tought properly it’s a standing meditation. No hocus Pocus. When not @ work I found what I learned of the 108 Yang school of thought can be applied at work in everyday motions.

Well said. The kissing thing is a Tibetan tradition. It’s very common among the Tibetan people, men and women.

This is new age😮
New age? These pointings likely pre-date civilization. Nothing new about these teachings.
is the dalai lama expressing unconditional love by kissing a child?
