148- Saint-Siméon Canada | Visit of the city + village of Port-au-Persil

- In this vlog discover with me Saint-Siméon and the village of Port-au-Persil in the Charlevoix region in the province of Quebec in Canada
I'll show you around the town, the village, the coast and the Black River
I advise you to go to Saint Siméon, a small town of 1200 inhabitants which is only about twenty minutes from La Malbaie
There is not really a city center, there is mainly a long road with houses on one side and the Saint Lawrence River on the other.
As soon as you enter the town, on this same road there is the information point very close to a gas station (Shell), a small grocery store which here is called a convenience store and a mini supermarket (Les Marchés Tradition), 100 meters from each other.
I advise you to walk to the end of this big road to reach a bridge, you will find the river on your right and the Black River on your left.
You can take a closer look under the bridge at the intersection where the river flows into the river.
You will also discover a motel typical of the region which has retained its authenticity and its charm of yesteryear (a real horror film setting)
A little further at the end of the bridge you can go down to the right on the edge of the bay, there is a small beach, it is very charming even on a rainy day.
Port-au-Persil
But if you only have a little time I advise you to go to Port-au-Persil
This small village of around a hundred inhabitants was created at the end of the 19th century.
And it was Samuel de Champlain who named it thus following the abundance of a plant found here, the Scottish Lovage which is nicknamed Sea Parsley.
I went there on foot because there is no public transport
The journey begins with a road which has a lot of passing cars but which then deviates onto another beautiful tarmac road which is much quieter, there are few sidewalks but the cars are rarer
We pass through small groups of houses in the countryside, this walk is very pleasant and lasts about an hour on foot.
(There is a rise and fall of 10% both on the outward and return journey)
Arriving at the village, don't look for a center, there isn't one, it's just houses grouped together along the bay.
At the entrance to the main street, on the left is a cider house (525 chemin du Port-au-Persil)
There is a wooden overhang with benches and street lamps, you may be lucky enough to have a slight trickle of mist above the water like I had
A little further away is a very old small wooden chapel which dates from 1893
Today it is private property but the path leading to it is open to the public.
You really have to take a look there.
If you have time you could perhaps go to the L'Orignac Est trail from Saint Siméon to Lac Noir.

Splendides paysages sous la pluie, je trouve incroyable tous ces villages ou on ne voit personne ! Vivement le prochain sous le soleil 🌞
En effet, au final ces paysages sous la pluie étaient superbes, pour être franc je quis allé à Saint Siméon uniquement pour aller voir Port-au-Persil, sinon je n'y serais pas aller :-)

Ses maisons ressemblent vraiment des jeux de construction. Les volets sont souvent que décoratifs, collés aux murs et même pas proportioné aux fenêtres.

J'apprécie beaucoup ta façon de nous montrer les villes et paysages tels qu'ils sont réellement, loin des brochures publicitaires qui sont souvent consacrées aux multiples randonnées sur le territoire. J'y ai séjourné souvent et je m'y retrouve

J'aime beaucoup ta façon de voir les villes et paysages loin des brochures publicitaires qui n'envoient que de la poudre aux yeux et souvent consacrées aux randonneurs. Je suis allée plusieurs fois au Québec, et tes promenades reflètent bien ce que l'on y trouve ... c'est sympa, mais loin des richesses de la vieille Europe !

Et je trouve que certains lieux et quartiers sont étonnamment boudés par les touristes alors qu’il y a de vraies richesses 😋

Mais Port-au Persil vaut le détour... etre au bord du fleuve à cet endroit est tout simplement magique.
ps : à droite le fleuve, à gauche les maisons, séparés par une grande route. Curieux? En fait ils ont voulu copier la Promenade des Anglais. 😜

Oui j'aime bien visiter des petits villages, loin du tourisme et j'ai découvert la rivière noire qui est superbe et surtout Port-au-persil
Il y a plein de coins secrets dans cette région. Notamment un endroit, un peu en amont au bord de la rivière Noire, où on peut se baigner (en été, bien sûr) et plonger du haut d’énormes rochers dans un bassin profond aux eaux noires qui justifient le nom de la rivière.
Pour ce qui est des routes qui longent le fleuve, oui, on peut trouver ça bizarre et dommage. Mais il faut savoir que c’est là que les premiers chemins ont été construits, au début de la colonie, tout simplement parce que c’était le seul terrain praticable (et ça l’est resté en certains endroits). Sinon, on naviguait, comme le faisaient les premiers peuples depuis des millénaires, le long du fleuve et de ses affluents, et on faisait du portage dans les endroits où les eaux étaient trop tumultueuses, et où s’étaient formé des sentiers.
Portage: transporter les bagages et le canot sur son dos pour éviter les rapides.)
