Hahahahahaha! True the Barese dialect is hard to understand! I have a friend who is Barese, and when he’s speaking to me in Italian I always have to ask him to slow down LOL! I’ve noticed something when visiting family in Italy. Never mind region to region! My mom’s side of the family is from San Giovanni Rotondo, in the Puglia region near Foggia. I thought their dialect was hard for other Italians to understand… but then you go to the town of Manfredonia which is about a 10/15 minute drive away, and you don’t understand a bloody word they’re saying LOL! It’s like a completely different language! My dad’s side is from a town also near Foggia, called Roseto Valfortore, and their dialect is more like the Napoletano dialect. Thank you once again for the great laugh!

My Nonna, who emigrated from Avellino in Campania, told me, quite a few times, not to ever trust a Calabrese. I think the Campanians (which includes the Napolitanos) and the Calabrese have got some serious issues with one another that probably go back centuries.
