- So, I decided to do this little project where I take this part of the quest, and add voice actors to it. I did not do a fantastic Job at editing this :(
But at least I have some awesome Voice actors :D

I'm so glad content like this exists, thank you for capturing this moment in time. 8 years ago and this video still gives me chills with the history and lore.
Honestly, the voice actors in this were absolutely amazing. Also an incredible soundtrack that Jagex picked for this scene and then just extremely great writing from Jagex too!

Also, at the risk of making an already emotional scene worse, here is something you find out later.
Guthix doesn't make it to the afterlife. Upon ascending to godhood, those ascended lose the way to any afterlife. When Gods die, they just...cease to be.
When do we find out this? I'd have liked him to meet his family again :(
After Missing, Presumed Death, you are given a book containing conversation the author of the book had with Death. Among the questions was what happens to a God when they die. The answer given stated that Gods give up any path to an afterlife when they ascend to Godhood and their energy meld into the Anima of the world they die upon.

This quests ending always gets me, when he says "forget me", I melt a little bit inside. Thank you for voice acting this, it is amazing.

Its been 6 years that this video was made... i am now at 2019, just completed this quest and... dude, the quest was something hard to take it but, you have made the feelings that i got into that time to now...

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that Jalen, the voice actor who voiced Guthix in this has made it as a pro voice actor now. He's voiced in some actual games, like Persona and I think is a writer as well now :)

This is one of the few voice overs Ive seen on TH-cam that was actually really good. Guthix's voice actor did an especially awesome job!
These new quests... are giving me feels. RuneScape is now making me cry more than me laughing. Jagex released alot of humor, but the drama... mngh. JAGEX WHY MUST YOU MAKE EXCELLENT QUESTS?!?!?

I'm a huge MMORPG gamer, and from all the MMORPGs that I have played I have to give best quests to Runescape. Questing is different on runescape, more fun and also a lot more interactive than other MMORPGs that I have played, its actually one of the only reasons I still play RS
WoW on the other hand has a lot more to do, the story of WoW to some degree is better than the story of Runescape, however since the questing sucks so damn much on WoW, its not really worth it. Blizzard should just release Novels of the story as well as having the quests there.
Honestly, WoW has a shitty questing system. How RuneScape did it is what made it unique. The Reason why I hate WoW is not just because of how the gameplay is, but because of how the story is. It's so BLAND in game. Seriously. You can't even PM eachother of the other faction, like SERIOUSLY, WTF?!?! Ugh. But I cannot deny that RuneScape does surpass in storyline. Honestly, Jagex does have one of the most thoughtout storylines in the entire mmo gaming industry. Everything else is PAY TO WIIIIIINNN FUCK QUESTS, GET ITEMS! Sadly, many people just want to do quests for the rewards. I honestly think they're stupid bitchy little pker nerds whom do nothing but complain, and that is why the RS community is so horrible. Seriously, I was on a RS Roleplaying forum, using my Succubus race that fit PERFECTLY well in the storyline. But that was DELETED because the owner said that "People prefer Pking over questing so I deleted it". I was so angry, I flipped a god damn table. THE SITE WAS MY HEAVEN! I LOVE RPING RUNESCAPE!!! UGH! It pisses me off how such good shit gets wasted over bland generic shit.
C'mon people. People play RuneScape not for the graphics or the gameplay, but for the MOTHERFUCKING QUESTS! MNGH! BEST LORE. And actually, some quests DO provide challenge. Examples include Elemental Workshop, REALLY unique. I never seen quests like that in games like Perfect world...
If only Jagex released RuneScape the RPG, I'd fucking buy it for 60 bucks hell 65 bucks. RuneScape, but boss graphics, and singleplayer version of RS (meaning more larger areas of like Falador n shit, larger map, all that.), but with stuff like no wilderness or something like that. Perhaps the RPG can have LAN mode where you can get a few people where you can go on quests with n such. But team quests can like be worked out for LAN players. Then we can have like some fun things in hte RPG exclusivly like... Sieges of cities, playing certain NPCs (example, playing Silske and play his Grand Ascension), do god wars, all of that. THAT WOULD BE SO MUCH FUN! I seriously fucking love how Silske is in the game.
ANOTHER thing RS excels at: Characters that are MEMORABLE! Guthix, Silske, Azzandara, Zaros, Zamorak, Saradomin, Seren, etc. ALL Of the characters are written about in Fan Fictions, and people NEVER forget them. I EVEN HEARD PEOPLE LIKE LUCIEN AND SET UP A CULT DEDICATED TO HIM INGAME! Idk if its true but still.

I agree with you 100% actually... I fucking HATE quests on EVERY MMORPG because of the, KILL THIS, COLLECT THIS, COME BACK type quests _' Runescapes Questing system is by far the best ever! WoWs story doesnt just included WoW though :P It goes further back to Warcraft, and the story is actually pretty good ^_^ The reason why I think it could be an amazing story and even better than Runescape's story is because if it were to be made into a novel, it would have so much more emotion in it (or at least I would hope it does).
But as in WoWs current story telling style its a bunch of shit and Jagex to a much better job at telling a story than Blizzard ever have :P
I used to RP on RS for a little while, but it seems that RS RPers just die out after a week or so :( I havnt seen many people stay on for a long time. and its a shame because its a way to play RS according to Lore and not money :P
If I was playing RS just for Graphics or Gameplay.... I would have stopped playing RS a long time ago :P but Runescape is the most unique MMORPG EVER to be created, there is so much to do that people just dont see... kinda sad how the #1 most popular activity on RS is PKing :/ there is so much to be done and all the community really do is bitch and keep bitching....
I do not see why Runescape cant also have 400,000 players on at one time, its such an amazing game with so much to be done.
and if an RPG were to be released of RS. As long as the quests are still amazing, and you have the Skilling elements with Quests requirements and everything.... I would not mind spending over 150 on it, because it would be worth it 100%
Totally agree also with having a pairing system :P were maybe you can invite someone from your friends list on Steam, PSN or XBL to come and group quest and kill bosses and so on :D
Maybe have a limit of having up to 4 players on the world ^_^ that would be awesome :D

I think RuneScape the RPG would have more action in quests since its singleplayer and how the fact that its created more slowly than the maingame, giving more options for story. I think the areas can actually be expanded if it was singleplayer (No scale theory, we get the actual RS scale which is around 100x more than the MMO version), which means we get to have some novel content in RS... would love it if your char can get together with another ingame like Dragon Age 3. :P I'd love to Marry Azzandara or Charr or Kera Meir :P (I love her allot). It'd be kinda nice also if we'd get certain prayers RPG exclusive where we get more closer to our gods. Since our chars are NOT supposed to be gods (we're supposed to be the only ones who CAN fight gods), we can get special quests to help the other gods obtain power. Different endings n all. :P Then of course, theres the option to kill all the gods and become supreme ruler :P But ye. I wanna start a RSRP forum... I mean I can get lore-lovers onto it, and we can do shit there without having to play RS. :D

Yes exactly! Having runescape be a game that mixes Skyrim and Dragon Age :D I love that concept :P Both games were extremely amazing, I loved the fact that your actions in Dragon age mattered, and the path you chose would lead to the NPCs reacting differently every time :P and Skyrim is a Game I still play :P
All that mixed together with Runescape.... OMG that would be the best game ever!!!! However, one thing I disagree with is the ability to marry main NPCs like Azzandara, Char or Kera Meir :P
Maybe lesser NPCs like Sara from Ashdale, or Elena from the quest series of the elves :P
And also you need to do their quests to be able to marry them :P That would we awesome ^_^ Once again... Not Main NPCs though >_> It would be kinda weird and awkward xD

Guthix was my favorite God too! I must also thank him for showing all of us of the visions of what all wars could do to us in the future that could ended up just like his homeland.
the one thing i disliked about this quest. was the lack of voice acting. just watching this with voice acting adds so much more emotion to the quest then just reading text :c great voice acting

Really good voice acting, I'd ask of you to do more, but Jagex has got that covered with a lot of the main plot.
Guthix was always my favorite god. My first RP character (Yes, I RP. Cringe or not, that's what I do, not forcing anyone) he looked up to Guthix as a friend. He fought only to maintain balance in Gielinor and didn't care for the influence of other gods. Through his life, he tried his best to uphold what Guthix truly wanted. And respected Guthix's dying wishes to forget him.
He was done adventuring for a while until the battle of Lumbridge forced him away from home. The death of the one he revered alongside the coming of the second god wars left him to plummet into insanity and eventually taking his own life. He blamed himself for the war breaking out since he didn't do anything to stop it to begin with and took the regret to his grave.
I'm RPing as his great grandson now, who wants the gods off gielinor. Although he's conflicted when it comes to Seren, since he wants her to stay due to her relation to Guthix, but being a god, worries that she too might succumb to the influences of war.
This is absolutely amazing, thank you for this.
Like when I got to the end of the quest I found myself saying "I could never forget you Guthix, no matter how much you ask".

I was planing on doing other quests too. But Jagex already do voice over on almost all the quests now :P so there really isnt much point >_<
But if there ever is a time where a quest has not been voiced. And I have the requirements to do the quest, Expect a voice over of it, thats not a promise :P thats A Probably will do it ^_^

Maybe not the exact voice I expected, but still a very good job. Easily the most memorable moment of a game I've played for over 11 years.

The tragic thing about Guthix is that he was ironically the perfect being for the position of the power of a great deity as he never wanted such. In fact: He detested it. And those best deserving of power are the ones who never want it, and never want to use it beyond the bare minimum. He would have been happy to just be a farmer and (judging by everything) his greatest joy would be been being a good father and raising Aagi, and then growing old just living the life to come. Perhaps out of respect: I like to personally think that Guthix was not really a god despite his amazing powers. He was just an architect, and in ways the Gatekeeper of Gielinor.
I also think looking at fiction in general Guthix was a rare kind of being: Neither good, nor evil (most who can claim this tend to sway towards the evil side of things via ends justify the means, or reject morality yet do evil things even if their end goals may seem good), and one who never wanted his grand power. Detesting that which he was, and had become. His final wish to be forgotten is something I however can't do; Guy had a heart of gold, and thus I respect him as a being. Not a god. Even before becoming powerful he seemed like a very stand-up kinda individual. (Also I like how Guthix has both more bravery, and also insane degrees of ferocity than rival entire planets. As a mere mortal on a Godwar torn world just no qualms about staring down a god to try and protect Aagi, and then later on Gielinor just without effort kicking out deities left,right, and center without them being able to do jack about getting evicted for the destruction they brought.)

Almost a decade after his death, Guthix remains prominent to Runescape's storyline. And yet the player only interacts with him for less than an hour. Beautiful story telling!

Just realized that Jalen K Cassel, who is voicing Guthix, also played Okuyasu from JJBA and has had tons of other high profile roles in anime dubbing after this video. Not to say that his success is because of this video; I just thought it was an interesting. You DID get some great voice actors!
Jalen has always been amazing :) I remember when I first heard his submission for the guthix audition that he instantly blew me away. A couple weeks after I cast him for this role I ran into some other work of his by coincidence and didn't realise how much VO work he already had under his belt Jalens range is incredible. After I found out I couldn't even believe that he actually auditioned for this and was doing it for free :) It's why I dont regret changing guthix's voice and adding effects to it as much as I do, he already managed to do such an amazing job. I just returned to Runescape on my main after a long time and just started the newer quest lines and am currently doing Azzanadra's Quest. Jagex finally gave Guthix a voice :D I was a bit surprised that they also haven't added any effects on the voice over for Guthix' voice lines.

Thats also kinda my fault...
The reason behind that is that I had to give the voice actors a script and they had to get the lines in within a certain time frame, some of them where quite small and it was probz a pain for the voice actors... Once again... my fault lol :P

Fun fact... I didn't know how I wanted the name Kizamus to be pronounced until I created this video and the voice actor of Guthix said Kizamus :) I actually just recently changed my name to Kizamus from a different name I'd been going with for a while. As soon as the actor sent me the audio clip and said "KEEZAMUS" I loved that name so much more!
I think runescape would have been a better game in a RPG format, like skyrim. Or atleast without so many dumb changes. Even with the 2007 game.. i losed so many time with my old account, its not worthy. It's a fantastic story (just like World of Warcraft story) #RIPoldRunescape
I think everyone would like RS to be like skyrim... Not think long and hard of some MMORPGs that are as big as Runescape and are in the style of Skyrim... There are none... The reason for this is because MMORPGs keep changing on a weekly basis... And the funds to keep a game up like that would simply cost too much... Now think about the graphics, and with that many people on how powerful of a system you would need to run the game... I do admit that I would prefer Jagex to upgrade their engine to something better that would make the game style like World of Warcraft... by that I mean the way your character moves... and the textures... However you must remember that Runescape is a Browser based game using a game engine that has a lot of limitations. So as of right now this is not possible, but I can defo see Runescape evolving to something amazing in another 5 years if the game is still around :) Lets just hope it stays around another 5 years :D Ive been playing since 2004

I am a Serenist, therefore I mourn Guthix's death because well, Seren and Guthix are very close, and I even ship them together because I always thought Guthix was secretly inlove with Seren.

Hmmm Singleplayer RS? That kinda depends on what you mean by that.
Like for example... Jagex are already planing on implementing Iron-man mode which is solo RS, however its still the same runescape, but without being able to do all the fun interaction stuff. But if you mean something Skyrim level then yea, I can defo see that working ^_^
