  • We had our first rice harvest where we actually were at the field. We have much to learn, but that is now part of our lives here in the Philippines. Having a bit of a farm with two rice fields.
Here we explain how the rice harvest works, how the harvester works, what rice looks like, and how it gets processed.
It was a great day out with the whole family and we could really learn more, as at some point we have to manage that. The fertilizer is natural and comes from our cows, which I didn't know. It improves the harvest but the crops grow a bit slower. Also fascinating was to see the carabaos (water buffalos) working and pulling out the bags of rice.
And of course not to forget eating with family and friends at the farm, with a nice BBQ and grilling some fish.
And in the end just some impressions of how rice gets tried on the street.
I hope the video was interesting and you learned something about living here in the Philippines, rice farming and its problems and hope you share it with others.
We are Erik and Alyssa and emigrated from Germany to the Philippines some time ago. Before that we lived in England and Kenya. We run a small resort / hotel here in the Philippines. Since we are still relatively young, we have to earn our money and work here. Here on our channel we describe our life in the Philippines, the challenges and problems, but also what makes us happy. Here you can simply follow us as we arrive in the Philippines, what mistakes we make and what we experience. Emigrating despite all the ups and downs is an adventure. Maybe you are also thinking about emigrating, so we hope to give you a little insight here. Feel free to ask us more questions and contact us if you want to know more about our work, life and what it means to emigrate as a young person. Thanks for watching.
