Considering this was filmed in 1984, that chest of drawers was more valuable than the average price of a house in Britain.

Live in US and love both BBC and PBS versions, but BBC is my favorite. You have items that are so much older, and lots of great art.
I love the items, the history, and the presenters' knowledge and good humor. However, the best part is the people's reactions when they hear the value of the pieces.

Fans of the show maybe surprised at the strange opening title music to the show. In fact the title music which we are nearly all familar with now in 2022 was only used from the early 1990s onward.

One of the funniest thing to me is that Eric Knowles accent is much posher then than he has been for years!

He should put the boiler in the house, and the wife in the garage ...
I wonder if any of these paintings were ever proven, and how many might have gone on to be forgeries.

could handle all the advertising for insurance in the US but why do the Brits do it....
Advertise for Woodmen of the World insurance I mean. I'm sick of hearing about WOW insurance with them ever showing of Woodmen of the World tombstone. Then they can say WOW!
Back in 1987, when this episode of TARS was first aired, there was no advertising at all on The BBC.
