@@CruzBrothersReact That's Sylphie, she went half a year without correcting Rudy's understading of her name from Sylph to Sylphiette, and in the end Paul had to tell Rudy her name~
@@CruzBrothersReact nah i can respect your feelings on this arc in the story. a lot of hardcore mushoku tensei fans don't even like this arc from the light novels. although in the light novels they did express more of what was going on in sylphies mind during this whole school arc and how self conscious she was over like will he remember me? will he even find me attractive? what kind of girls does rudy like? etc..
I think its a missed oppurtunity to grow slyphies character into a less timid person if she was the one to finally reveal herself to Rudy. Instead of directing rudy to figure it out himself. She has been this way since she was a child and has not grown out of it not one bit
He didn't need to be reminded of her. He is wearing the necklace she gave him the whole time; he is probably reminded of her every time he puts it on. Things became this elaborate and unnecessary because of Sylphie's character, and it led to a nice moment in the end. If i had a gripe it would be that she didn't notice the necklace.
Not sure where the take that Rudy won't love Sylphie as much as he did Eris came from, especially after last episode. If anything, he loves Sylphie more as he's been shown to genuinely care for her even when he thought she was a guy, as well as doing everything he could to respect her boundaries and prioritizing her feelings over curing his ED.
He spent six years with Eris through her formative (and his reformative) years, so that romance had more time to cement itself before she left him. That's why he was left hurting so bad. With Sylphy it was about two years with his scummy self thinking of essentially grooming her, to falling in love with her alias within a year. When she finally revealed herself, he'd gone through a lot of maturing and picked up a lot of fears, so he grabbed on hard to that feeling he had for her. It's love coupled with desperation. Him spending that year to fall in love with her was necessary, as he would've pursued getting physical with "Fittz" without regard for her boundaries if he'd learned even six months earlier that she was a woman.
"I think she's trying to get rid of Rudeus." That's actually a fear he held on to. He thought Fittz would assassinate him over knowing the truth and having compromising information on the princess' faction. In the web novel they tried a plan where the princess blew up her dorm room, "forcing" Fittz to bunk at Rudeus' room; she chickened out from crawling into his bed, pacing for a few hours beside it before going back to sleep and Rudeus was scared stiff and unable to sleep the entire night. The rain in the forest was plan B, and he thought the cave would hold an ambush where he'd be taken away to some lab or killed for knowing too much about Fittz. Even the bottle later on was something he kinda thought might be poison, but he was past caring at that point.
Cause slyphie could of just grew up, and worked up the nerve to just tell him like a normal person. Or if she had to go through with it this way, just taking off her glasses would probably been enough since theyve been teasing her doing that this season to reveal it to rudues
Should probably correct saying "didn't like the directing of the episode" instead of "didn't like the writing" since the writing was very well fleshed out in the light novels. Just me being a peeved viewer of how you phrased it though.
We dont know whats fleshed out and what isnt in the LN. So saying directing of the episode in place of that would just be an odd way to phrase it. We cant stop triggering LN readers just by us existing as anime only viewers. Like what are we supposed to do if we dont have the LN in our memory to compare
@@CruzBrothersReact Nah, it's just me particularly being peeved because of how much the anime cuts the dialogue from a heavy-dialogue source material. But well, just hearing some reactions that downplay scenes and don't question more why they happen is kinda depressing tho, since the anime is full to the brim with details waiting to be broken down regardless of dialogue omission. There are so many psychological aspects that you guys could dive in as well that you could keep in mind going forward. You guys don't have to be careful, but hoping you'd try to explore things more in discussion
I like your reaction series. I like seeing different opinions in MT. Both of you have some issues with MT and that is fine. Sometimes we see eye to eye. Even when we don't why watch a reaction series if everyone has the same thoughts and opinions. As a superfan of MT. And a LN reader. Even I admit the Rudy x Sylphy plot line in terms of he won't remember me. And pushing it as far as needing to re-create this scene was never something I liked all that much. And Rudy not putting together the 50+ clues that Fitz is Sylphy got to be a bit much too. It was not terrible. But in contrast to the rest of the series both before and after it's some of the weakest stuff. One thing it does though. Is it allows Rudy's feeling for Sylphy to feel genuine. Hear me out on this one. Rudy re-learned to appreciate Fitz/Sylphy as person. Not a skirt to chase! Is extremely important. Having Rudy appreciate Fitz personality, traits, and friendship is important. It kind of removes the linger creepy aspect of Rudy just lust after a girl who he knew as a child etc. While they were friends as kids some of it was a tiny bit creepy right? Awkward to say the least. Rudy is a "different" person now. He's not a lot different but he has grown. It's only fair to kind of reset Rudy and Sylphys relationship. Have them start fresh in a way. One way to do that is to do this whole Fitz is a boy thing having Sylphy be terrified of Rudy not remembering her. Allowing us to see Rudy become good friends with Sylphy even though Rudy believe she is a man. Before Rudy fell for Fitz he genuinely got along well with "him." It removes his pervy side and makes there relationship have depth. It's not sexual. In a way it makes them feel closer. It does not rely on their childhood together. Over this season we see Fitz and Rudy grow closer together even with relationships and sex out of the picture they work well together. That's kind of how I see it. I think that's why we kind of got the story line development that MT gave us. That's the purpose for this storyline I think. But I admit the path to this outcome was a little silly and sloppy. It's not much better in the LN honestly either. So the anime adapted it pretty well. I like it but I sighed reading it and even now watching it. lol Again this is about the worst MT gets for me. I love the arc as a whole but this aspect or plot line was a little tiring. However I like that they did it. Not exactly how they did it. After all even when Rudy discovered Fitz is a woman. He does not get weird and creepy. He does not like chase her down or anything like that. Rudy instead treats Fitz like his friend still. Respects her wishes. This is real growth for Rudy and in ways Sylphy too. More to it than this. I don't want to take all day here. But nothing is wasted in MT. From what we have seen so far almost no plotline has just one use. It's all development for the overall story.
I get what your saying, it is a good clean slate to reintroduce them, and that one detail about this plot line plays into his character development well. Its convenient writing. Not gonna lie to you though, we kinda had to make our own fun with this episode cause seeing this play out felt long winded. Cause we already felt this probably would of made sense to come a lot sooner than it did. Not like sylphie was thinking about all that, she was just too scared to reveal herself
@@CruzBrothersReact Yes you are right. Of course the plot was for us. Sylphy was not thinking about all of that. It was a little painful to get though. I hold nothing against you two. lol It's something that a lot of readers and reactors also found tiring. Your not the only ones... Both the anime and LN has the same but also different reasons why it was so difficult. I will say one key difference in the LN is that is was a more slow burn. Which might seen even worse. And in a way it can be. However because it was slower it was not as big of a focus. It was weaved over more content. A lot of side mini stories and character chapters between all of this development. The anime is stripped of so much small things. Neat little character moments. That the anime feels hyper focused on the "MAIN PLOT." In the LN. We knew how Sylphy felt much sooner. There is also more plot for Sylphy as well. She had more going on and the story covered more of her adventures. More of a back story for her too. So readers kind of came to terms that this is going to be longer plot element in the LN. And to focus on the greater picture. You also got to read entire chapters from Sylphys point of view and see her exact thought process for various scenes etc. Meaning you kind understood her point of view more and the scope of her fears and even why she had them. It was a little less shallow than the anime makes it seem. But it was still annoying at times. The downside to that more indepth but slower pacing in the LN. Is it was longer lasting in the LN than the anime. But the anime lacks some of the context and side story lines meaning the viewer is watching almost nothing but this plot line for several episodes back to back. Again I love almost all aspects of MT and season 2 was great as a whole so far. However this will always be one of those almost contrived story elements. lol But hey Rudy has always had an issue reading the room. And Sylphy has always had her weakness for Rudy. So it's not bad writing. We just have to accept it. It's worth it in the end. lol
I agree that the plotline was necessary for Rudeus' side of the romance in that he got to respect, admire, and eventually desire Fittz all on his own. If he'd learned she were a woman sooner, he would've creeped her; he admits this himself. That extra time for the slow cook got him to appreciate her as her own person and when she revealed herself as Sylphy, Rudeus was ready to have a true romance with her. Forget about Fittz revealing herself being a woman earlier, if he'd been told she was Sylphy from the start, the entire relationship would've started on a completely different tack. The girl he left behind was a clingy crybaby whom he was planning on engineering to become a perfect wife. He would've continued from that context and would either have pursued the plan as a desperate bid to cure himself or he would've recoiled in shame over what he'd planned to do.
Something else I want to say quickly. If you want you can give your opinion "Cruz Brothers" or anyone can reply as well. With one episode remaining in the first core of season 2. It's obvious that animation quality and or fight choreography took a downgrade since season 1. Right? I don't want to gaslight any opinions. So think on your own. My opinion is that is is worse. It's not horrible or anything like that. It might even be great? But it's worse than season 1. In some ways a decent bit worse. Music and voice acting I have no complaints about. But how do you rate MT season 1 and 2 based on quality of production not story? Even though yes story is apart of production. And I think season 2 dropped the ball a little in terms of story/plot adaption as well. But that's a different subject. How do you feel about the production of season 2? Would you have rather waited another 3-6 months for it to attempt to match season 1? Or does anyone else have a completely different opinion than mine? (I really hope second core gets a little more polish.)
I feel like season 2 so far hasnt had enough action or movement in its written scenes to warrant crazy fluid animation to begin with. If there was some big event that happened this season and it looked like dog water, then that would be worth critcizing. But to us it doesnt matter if there isnt anything big happening in terms of action
The reason for the plan: To corner Sylphie so she won't self-sabotage.
I got that, its just the fact that damn, it took sylphie to go through all this just to tell him
