    I got the 6p version for Christmas. Can't wait to try it in my backyard. My husband is making me a platform for it. Thanks for the video.

      I wish I could have gone with the 6 person. I think you will be happy with it. I will say I had to retreat all the seams and spray waterproofing again on my 4 person.

    I appreciate how you went through the various details of the tent. Each step helps us out when we get this same tent. Knowing how and what is important when you want a proper process when dealing with the tent. Thank you.

      I am glad the video was helpful. Be sure if you get one that you seal all the seams inside and out.
      After I made this video I found the tent I got leaked at all four corners where the tub connects and along the seam under the side windows.

    I got one today. We stay in a tiny RV. I'm setting the tent up as my outdoor kitchen. I think I'm going to like it. I have been useing a tiny "bubble" tent..a coleman sunshade beach tent. Looking forward to setting up the new one tomorrow

      That is a really good idea! Just be careful with hot stuff or flames like the instructions say. Plus plenty of ventilation.

      Thank you. It is just what nature lets grow. I mow it around the highest setting on my mower because I read that VA cemeteries do a deep cut so it looks more lush and is more hot weather resistant.🚜

      I am glad this video helped. Just a follow-up note - be sure to add waterproofer to the inside and outside of the seams on the body of the tent. I had to go over them a few times and then sprayed it with waterproof spray.

    Hi there, Im just wondering how you carried this on your bike? Im in Australia and the law says you cant go wider than your handle bars. I have a fatboy so I cant go wider that 26inches.

    • @RRatedCustoms
      @RRatedCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. I am not an attorney and do not want to get you in trouble with Johnny Law.
      That being said, my version of the tent measures about 38 inches end to end where it pushes out on the stuff sack. My bike has the batwing fairing that sticks out past the handlebars on each end. So the tent laying across the rear saddle and grab handles is right at the fairing. Plus I am not familiar with an equal law in the US.
      However, I think the AUS/NZ version of the tent has a bit more material even though the frame is the same. So that may make the stuffed measurements a little bigger.
      I hope this helps.

  • @theodorstravels

    The reviews seem to be quite thorough on the side of what the tent is like, when set up. I am however as interested in how will you actually fit something so big on your bike.

    Takes twice as long to put the rain fly up

    • @RRatedCustoms
      @RRatedCustoms  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is true but definitely worth it to block some of the sun and rain in less than ideal weather.

    It is a bit smaller than your old one on head height! :-) but looks a great bit of kit. Weird that it has no porch though. Will be interesting to see how waterproof it is mate, looks pretty good... although you wouldn't want to forget to shut the windows! :D

    Very detailed video, thanks. Some people don’t realize those pockets are for holding the window flaps, I actually prefer this type tan the rolling ones. How tall is it? I’m 5’4” and would like to be able to stand completely since my other tents are more for really heavy gusty winds, they’re low and smaller I’d like something taller for myself and 2 dogs for woodsy areas that aren’t as exposed. By the way is easier if instead of the tie out you get a couple of compression straps to put the tent back in the bag. Again great video and thanks for your efforts to make it.

    • @RRatedCustoms
      @RRatedCustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Carmen for the strap tip. At 5'4" you should be comfortable standing the tent. However if your dogs are like my guy (98 lbs hound who likes to spread out) then you might want to consider going up in size for the tent to the 6 person. That is because of the way the floor space and door works out.
      Also, just to let you know I had to reseal every seam and re-waterproof this tent.

      @@RRatedCustoms nice bike! Once I got a bee by the inside of the helmet strap and it stung me lol, I wear a half face helmet and I should know better, the beetles hitting your face at high velocity are no fun either. I live in the mountains thus quite a few bugs in the spring but always nice to ride.

  • @jeffd3844
    @jeffd3844 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice video, thanks for posting. How'd it do in the rain? Does the rain fly give enough coverage to allow you to crack the windows for ventilation without letting rain in?

    • @RRatedCustoms
      @RRatedCustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right out of the box, it had some issues in the rain. I had to reseal all the seams from the outside and the entire inverted seam on the inside. After that it did fine when my son took overland camping in Colorado.
      The rainfly does let you open the side windows a bit depending on how hard the wind is blowing the rain.
