Hands down, just one of the best video series you’ve presented to us! Very entertaining and educational. Besides pilot/owners, who knew the stuff you have to go through to keep the plane in good safe flying condition! Thanks again!
WOW! I don't own an airplane and don't fly but this company makes me want to go buy a plane just so I can go to TAS! What an impressive show and tell with the replaced parts and an even more impressive debrief. What an outstanding company!!!! Heck I only watch your videos and I have peace of mind knowing that you guys are being cared for by TAS. Cool video Kevin! Thanks for always sharing your flights!!
Fascinaring. For my ‘46 Champ, I’ve gone to a guy who has flown, maintained, and restored Aeroncas for decades (also has done Pitts’ for decades). Can’t imagine not having somebody who really knows fabric and small (old) engines. So glad for you that the 310 shop found the wear/tear others had not seen!
Always edit out the part where the paramedics revive the customer when he sees the invoice. Ha! That was one extensive annual, looks like they caught stuff missed over the years. Now you have a peace of mind knowing everything has been done right! Great video.
If I had a plane, these guys would have my business. Their debriefing of the parts and issues is invaluable and shows their expertise. You have found a lifetime maintenance partner there.
Kevin I had a dual vacuum failure on my Malibu. The issue was that there were holes in the boots that were allowing water into the system over a long period of time which caused both vacuum pumps to fail within a few hours of one another. A lot of water was drained out of my system. TAS explanation for you sounds reasonable, but just ensure you don’t have boot pinholes that are allowing water into the system over a period of time.
Probably the most interesting and important video that you have posted. So glad that you got it all fixed. Proves that beauty is more than skin deep. Thanks for being so open and honest. It is a great Blessing that you went through this before a catastrophic failure. All the best to you and Jamie.
I was super impressed by the professionalism of that shop. They may be expensive but I’d sure feel happy flying an airplane maintained by that. I’ve always thought any maintenance shop should at least ride along on the first flight after an annual.
As a member of Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and someone who is trained for ELT searches... Yes we will call, Yes we will search, and yes we appreciate you adding the GPS info to your ELT. Triangulating on an ELT can waste valuable time because we are often on foot or flying searches with incomplete information and having the lat/long to start makes our search much easier.
Hands down, the best video I’ve ever watched. As a Navigator flying B52s, FB-111s, & T-29s, 50 years ago we relied on the maintainers for our lives. Never take short cuts and you will enjoy life well into your 70s.
There's a reason why you should specialize in a particular aircraft. TAS's attention to detail is second to none by what I just watched. I'm sure they don't come cheap but the piece of mind with that type of service is truly exceptional!
Sounds like they definitely take care of their customers. I like how they took their time going over everything with you, not rushing through everything. I know with my last Jeep and the Grand Am I had before that, every time I took them in for repairs, I was rushed through everything they did, quickly paid my bill, and was out the door. With the Grand Am, I last took it in to get worked on, and the place called me the next day, wanting me to bring it back in. The mechanic who'd worked on it had found a bolt and wanted to make sure it didn't come from my car. I asked them when I got there "Don't you check vehicles over before sending them back out on the road?" Then with my last Jeep, I got home from getting the radiator replaced only to discover that they'd sent me home with a bolt missing and a broken headlight bracket. I took it back the next day, pointed the issues I'd found, and then they found more issues. When the service manager came into the waiting room to talk to me, I turned a lot of heads on the other customers when I loudly asked him, "Is it your policy to return vehicles back out on the road with broken and missing parts?" They never did fully correct all of the issues, and I ended up having to go to another dealership to get the issues resolved.
After owning twin Cessnas for years, I still have a special place in my heart for the 340 (of course the A model with the more powerful engines). The 340 is the best looking twin Cessna ever made. No offense to the 310, I owned two T310Q models because I liked the short nose so much better. Pretty sure that’s why I like the 340 better than the 421. I loved my 421, but it must be that nose that threw something off in my brain haha (although it was a great place for golf clubs). Even though I’m in a turbine now, I still hold a special place in my heart for twin Cessnas, especially that sexy 340. Thanks for all the great videos and I’m thrilled that “imminent” gear failure never came to fruition. Stay safe and see ya on the next one.
Wow...all my fav's yellow lab puppies, 1BC,.Kevin, John and the first class folks at TAS...outstanding!!! loved the drone shots on taxi and departure!!!
Okay, this may sound hokey, but I got goose bumps on that last little bit seeing the aerial view of your take-off roll and rotation. Something about seeing a plane rolling and then reaching for the air. That's what lead me to going into the Air Force and what keeps me like a wide-eyed child today. AWESOME!!
Between this video and getting to see some restoration projects on a 310 and a Piper, all the things to go wrong make my head spin. Glad you got some safety items taken care of.
As someone who maintained aircraft, kudos to TAS for doing everything the right way and going above and beyond. FYI why don’t you have a puppy? Seriously great video as always and good on you for your professionalism in flying.
I love this VLOG and the Total Professionalism of TAS towards a customer and possibly a future customer. I worked for Gulfstream when they first Moved to UK in 2004 and we had similar work ethics and Customer support. The Gulfstream aircraft are on CMP which carries out the tracking of maintenance and components that require time or cycle inspections and we also dealt with NetJets who have a similar maintenance tracking and component. I also like that they drop and "SOAP" the oil on every aircraft on arrival, so much can be learnt from doing this about the Engine and Propellers and if they also do the Hydraulic oil testing this can also aid them with keeping a historical record of the components These older Cessna Twins are in need of this inspection and if anyone thinks they can skip on maintenance they are in the long term risking the aircraft The finding of the Nose U/C bush bearing and bolt close to failure shows that TAS have dedicated engineers who are very experienced and in my working life I have come across the other side of the spectrum in engineering Thankfully the FAA / CAA & EASA are the people that inspect these shops and not much gets past Love the VLOG and Wish so much that I could be back at work as I loved my job but sadly health stops me GO TAS and Kevin
I’m not a pilot...my experience flying is limited to commercial flights and one 45 minute hop in a Cessna 152. I’m a truck driver with a Harley and enjoy watching your channel for the adventure in seeing new places and seeing what this country looks like from a few thousand feet. And yeah...Jaime’s presence just adds to all of it. Up until this video, my favorite was the one in the Bahamas with Jaime wearing a bikini top (for obvious reasons)...but this one and the one before it are eye-openers. Take your plane for a typical annual and find out that you were flying on borrowed time. How many other planes are out there cobbled together with chewing gum and bailing wire and the owners are completely unaware? I think this video alone will bring TAS plenty more business (hopefully, they will reward you for it). Thanks again for bringing us along.
Planes are in the air because of brilliant people like this on the ground. So glad you found that front gear problem before it was serious. It’s ready for Arizona now!!
Seeing that worn nosegear bolt which held the whole thing together, and its "imminent failure" gave me the chills. Very fortunate to have TAS on the mission, thanks for sharing.
This is what a proper annual inspection looks like. Like the professionalism this shops has debriefing the annual with you. Next year the parts they present should be much fewer :) Nice to see this attention to safety and meticulous maintenance. Great content!
Completely enjoyed this video. 👍👍. Clearly TAS is top notch and the place to put your life in their hands 🙌 The drone sequence was AWESOME! And wow your Buddy grease that landing….so good.
Thank goodness they found and fixed everything so that you Jamie and your family will be safe! It was a great idea to put out these very different series of videos regarding maintenance. They are eye-opening and really drive home the importance of thorough quality maintenance & repair of your aircraft. Cool drone footage of your departure at the end.
Wow! Just getting out of one of my most expensive annual/IFR Certs. I thought we went through everything but My head is just spinning with the bucket of parts. Those were some significant breakdowns. This video is really good!!
Kevin, Thanks for the intimate video on your extensive annual. TAS rocks and pride themselves with their work ethic and professionalism. Wow. Simply impressed on how they conduct themselves with the clients. I am sure the cost was substantial, but you know what you are getting with their service. Fly safe bro!
I helped out in a maintenance hanger. I was shocked how neglected some old aircraft had been treated. One had lose under carriage torque links. I was told to pinch up the bolts. I said that will crack the bracket. I removed the bolts, they all looked like camshafts. New bolts and shims fitted, i learnt i lot. I greased up Arrow undercarriage on jacks, seen few not greased in a long time. Done right grease goes everywhere, so hard to clean up but can see it's been done. Old grease looks like dog poo.
Very interesting listening to the folks at TSA! They sound like a great company. The music playing in the background while they were explaining everything was very distracting. Keep up the great videos.
Oil analysis is such a great idea. I’m in a club with three planes and it is such a great tool for the maintenance. I use Blackstone too. I am sure others do it too but they are great. They can pretty much tell you what is wrong or going wrong with your engine just by what metal and how much. They even can tell you what to do or look for. I even use it on my car. Great videos. Been a fan for a long time. I am a maintenance officer on one of the club planes and love this series. I love to watch the flying but it’s nice to see the other stuff too. Keep up the good work!
Impressive informational video! Forwarding to a pilot in my family. Hi to your two friends that gave you a lift down, very nice 340 🤗 Cant, as usual wait till the next video. 🤗
Congrats on acquiring a new family that has your back and will check for you. Great airplane deserves great service, and that has no price maximum. Thanks for sharing.
Whatever the cost, the greatest value is that you and Jamie, and your family, will be much safer. "eminent gear collapse" Forget replacing engines and replacing props; you can't replace a life. I'm so glad they found all those issues. What a great team/family TAS is, and how professional and knowledgeable they are. May you have many, many more years of safe flying and epic aviation adventures. :-)
I suspected that A/C maintenance was complicated in general but holy cow. You need to be able to have complete trust in your maintenance professionals. TAS looks like a great company to work with, and seems very trustworthy. Loved the drone footage at the end of the video!
This is such an awesome way to help explain to laypeople just exactly what it takes to keep a plane airworthy and the pilot and his passengers safe. It is not a turnkey operation like some people treat an automobile. You can't just pull over on the next cloud when you breakdown in a plane. Great job, Kevin. Keep this types of videos coming. They are a wealth of knowledge.
WoW! Kevin, that was a valuable inspection. They averted some pretty important stuff that could have been catastrophic. Good catches all around. Looking forward to seeing you at ACCA again this year.
TAS is squared away and very thorough. I am glad they found and repaired all the problems and abnormalities on 1Bravo Charlie. Great video of their repair and inspection work.
Great video. Awesome explanations about all details. Great company! Now I'm sure that bill is gonna hurt, but damn that's all worth it :) That bolt!!! Thanks John for the ride and company, and thank you for sharing all this!
Wow Kev, luck is on your side! I can't imagine what would have happened if the nose gear stuff let go upon landing. It's awesome to see 1BC getting a clean bill of health.
Great to see the plane in REALLY SAFE condition, you can't pull over to the curb if something does wrong! The next flight video is going to be really interesting. Cheers, Rik Spector
Extremely interesting, Thank you for the update. Good thing about the Nose wheel Bolt. Thanks Kevin for sharing :) look forward to more videos, like everyone else :)
Kevin, Great job this week. I will now quit complaining about the cost of bottom paint and zinks. Please give a pat on the back to the drone operator shooting your take off at the end. It really looked neat.
Excellent video! Very interesting to see all of the inner workings of the 310, and good to see that they test fly every plane! That 340 is nice! Fun seeing my house at 8:00, used to seeing it at 2 or 3 thousand though
Very good debrief of all the maintenance performed. Looks like you may have to volunteer for some overtime. Keeping aircraft in airworthy condition is not cheep🤑
I can almost hear Jamie...all this was broken and you were flying me all over the country???? Glad you have a company you trust to keep you in tip top shape. Now on to the next adventure. Safe flying Kevin.
G, day 310 Pilot channel from Sydney, Australia. * the box of replaced parts all show impact/repetitive metal fatigue, good replacement and dollars well spent. * the 70-75 Hr visual exhaust inspection by an A&P (AMT) "what are they looking for"? Use a torch (one assumes carbon monoxide CO2 ingress)? Thanks for takin us along! 🙈🌏
You must have been so relieved this inspection was done. Many happy and safe flight hours ahead. Being in the liquor business, I asked my guys for a case of black cherry seltzer and realized I asked him for 1 BC. Pretty stupid but I thought you'd laugh. True story.
Meeting the guy who has your life in his hands....thats invaluable.
Well said. 😂👍🏿
Sure is nice to have a face to put with all that trust. :)
That is how Aircraft Maint and Service should always be conducted....Excellent, Kev and TAS
I agree. So glad to have them in mine (and 1BC's) life. :)
One word comes to mind. Professionals!
Great shop. The fact they actually show you and walk through the replaced items... awesome.
Does TAS. Only work on twin Cessna aircraft ?
Now I know why a good annual is so important. The things they found were incredable. You and your family should be safe now.
What an awesome company! Inviting you to become part of the "family" is the top of the customer service ladder. Great job.
Well said Marshall!

Cool. I like your friend. He asked all the right questions.

I'm an owner and active in my maintenance. This is a first class shop without a doubt. Great model for other mx shops around the country.
Best aviation channel on TH-cam. By far. Greetings from Canada Kevin.
Thank you Ron...that's really saying something. Glad you think so!! :)
Talk about 1bc love 💕 boom ! I’m happy she’s safe .. nice work TAS !
That was money well spent that will ensure that I am able to share the 310 experience with you guys for awhile longer. TAS is an impressive business.

Especially after seeing what TAS went thru in getting 1BC fixed up right.
That drone is going to have to catch up on flight back home.
TAS certainly know their stuff guys.all safe and sound now.great video

Kevin, one of the best videos You've put out there! I'm sure ya sleep better at night now, no matter the expense. TAS is a first rate company!

The ending was beautiful
I know cost is something we don't like to talk, but maybe the invoice for the work is something people should know for their own adventure.

More behind the scenes to supporting the fun!! The drone shot at the end was the bomb!!! Excellent!!
Good Catch On The Nose Gear!!!!!!!!!
100% first class business. You will certainly fly home with confidence. Great series!
I am very impressed. Having worked on aircraft and being a avionics technician plus a CFI.
Loved watching the post-annual debrief!
Very interesting listening to the folks at TSA! They sound like a great company. The music playing in the background while they were explaining everything was very distracting. Keep up the great videos.

Best radio calls in the biz
If I was in the market for an airplane, I would only buy it from someplace like this! What a wonderful company!
It's fun to see experts at work!
Impressive informational video!
Forwarding to a pilot in my family.
Hi to your two friends that gave you a lift down, very nice 340 🤗
Cant, as usual wait till the next video. 🤗
Kevin this is a super great video series with the inspection finding some real serious problems. Congrats on weight loss of 60 lbs too. Safe flying.
It's great. A brand new plane again. Always will be good to trust

They are a wealth of knowledge.
I wish there is a shop like TAS for single engine Cessnas. Great video.
Awww, I love my planes, but.....just love that puppy:)
WOW! Thank God for TAS!! Now, that's a pro shop, right there!! ~Frank
Wow....they don't mess around. What a great place and professional.
This shop is incredible
WoW! Kevin, that was a valuable inspection. They averted some pretty important stuff that could have been catastrophic. Good catches all around. Looking forward to seeing you at ACCA again this year.
It sounds as if their App is not just an engine/aircraft analyzer. But maybe a “black box” as well. And this, to me, is a definite good thing!
Having the peace of mind knowing all has been done correctly by this company is worth the cost
And a hell of a invoice 💵💵💵💵
Not being a pilot I still admire their professionalism and their customer relationships. Excellent video.
That advice about a specialist shop is such a big thing. Applies to nearly every airplane.
The Drone shot at the end of the video was great!
Wow, TAS are amazing! Congrats on the shiny new, freshly annualed beauty!
What an amazing company
21 people who need their vision checked before flying next. Another great video Kevin!
Great to see the plane in REALLY SAFE condition,
you can't pull over to the curb if something does wrong!
The next flight video is going to be really interesting.
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Extremely interesting, Thank you for the update. Good thing about the Nose wheel Bolt.
Thanks Kevin for sharing :) look forward to more videos, like everyone else :)
Excellent video Kevin! Good to meet the TAS folks - many businesses could learn from them!
If you would feel comfortable, running through the cost of something that extensive would be cool to see
I was wondering too.
Kevin, Great job this week. I will now quit complaining about the cost of bottom paint and zinks. Please give a pat on the back to the drone operator shooting your take off at the end. It really looked neat.
Nice to have friends to fly you to pick up your plan, good to see 1BC back in the air soon!!
Excellent video! Very interesting to see all of the inner workings of the 310, and good to see that they test fly every plane! That 340 is nice! Fun seeing my house at 8:00, used to seeing it at 2 or 3 thousand though
Wow thats a lot to comprehend and cool ending
Very good debrief of all the maintenance performed. Looks like you may have to volunteer for some overtime. Keeping aircraft in airworthy condition is not cheep🤑
Nice to know they are looking out for your safety. You need to either frame that bolt or hide it somewhere. Thanks Kevin.
I can almost hear Jamie...all this was broken and you were flying me all over the country???? Glad you have a company you trust to keep you in tip top shape. Now on to the next adventure. Safe flying Kevin.
Excellent job maintenance personnel.
Thanks for sharing. Very informative and more so to those not familiar with the A&P side of the house. BTW, great Drone-CAM.
What amazing service👍👍 they sure saved you a lot of heart ache Kevin . And then some 😳😳👍
G, day 310 Pilot channel from Sydney, Australia.

Super video! It’s the painful side of twin ownership but the value of one on one with that shop is piece of mind. Happy flying!
Very interesting video, back to the air 1BC !
You must have been so relieved this inspection was done. Many happy and safe flight hours ahead. Being in the liquor business, I asked my guys for a case of black cherry seltzer and realized I asked him for 1 BC. Pretty stupid but I thought you'd laugh. True story.
