Also worked for my 2005 Pontiac Sunfire. Although I didnt have a problem getting the seat off.... this was helpful for figuring out how to get the seats back ON securely. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this! Just got a low-mileage 2003 Sunfire & want to remove the rear seat, and also the passenger seat. This was *very* helpful. Thanks very much for showing us the way!
Exactly what I needed to know about the rear seat removal for my 2003 Crapalier. Thank you for sharing this video, made my life a little bit easier. 😉 👍👍
Thanks to your video, I had no problem properly releasing the clip with a flat-head screwdriver. Just push in at the right spot (maybe with the help of a flashlight) and then gently lift the front of the seat-cushion. Also, when reattaching the clip to the cushion, you can put it over the lower bar FIRST and THEN clip it onto the upper bar. That way you won't risk breaking the clip by bending it too far to get it around the lower bar. Thanks again!
It is not designed for removal, but for installation. Remember, these things are built on an assembly line by a car company that is ran by bean counter Chevy.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I have a pontiac grandam with a back seat like yours. My husband was able to get the seat off but not back on. Like you I couldn't find a video on how to do it until yours.
Thank you so much for this! I just got a 2000 cavalier and the back seat wasn't attached - with the plastic clip in the metal hole. So thanks so much for showing how to install it! I never would have guessed it correctly.
Thanks for the tip. It's the same for my 04 Cavalier (as I thought). I ended up breaking both clips before it was all over though, one taking it off and one trying to put it back on but still accomplished my goal.
Thank you SO much, if I wasn't for this video, I never would have been able to get the back seat in/out of my Daughter's 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. What a joke that GM engineers could not come up w/ a better method!
This was an extremely helpful video for a car imcompetent shit like me and spared me some serious frustration. Mostly pertaining to those stupidly simple pressure clips lol. Thank you, even Google was no help other than bringing up this vid. Another blood pressure spike avoided! Ha
What an amazing video! Thanks for sharing! You gave excellent advice, very clear description and instructions! As I watched your video, every question I would come up with as you went along, you practically read my mind and answered it with your next statement. I wish all videographers could do as great a job as you have. Awesome job and thanks again! P. S. the only reason I could imagine for designing a clip like that, I've never seen one like this either and I've been working on cars for 20 years or so, is it would save a tremendous amount of time installing the seats on the GM assembly line? P. S. S. Also, great idea on clicking the seat belts together to keep them from falling off! This would be a life savor if you were working on a car with vinyl or leather seats! Awesome idea!
Ya i took my seat out yesterday and went to put it back in today on my cavelier and couldnt figure how it went back in. this video helped alot thanks man! Really stupid design i have to admit though.
My 01 sunfire came out with no clip. It was pressure fit. Is yours a coupe or sedan? And I dont know why yours had that? My old 98 didn't have that either and it was also a sedan.
hey I got a 05 cavalier. I'm assuming it's the same method for the bottom seats. is there a trick for the back rests? i installed an aftermarket trunk lid and it won't open. I need to find a way to remove or fold down rear seats. is there a trick? I can't figure it out.
I've never actually seen the interior of a cavalier, but if its at all like the sunfire, It's actually impossible. The way the sunfire back seat back rest is designed, there is a hinge at the bottom of the back rest that allows the seat to fold down like a horizontal door that separates the "cabin" from the trunk of the car. The only other thing holding the back rest in place is the pulley clip that holds the back rest in the upright position. Unfortunately, this hinge system is secured to the frame of the car with industrial rivets, that cannot be removed without literally torching or cutting through them. Like I said, I don't know for sure if the cavalier is the same mechanism, but I'd assume it is something similar.
It looks pretty close to the same. I know that most sun fires and Cavs are almost identical. If that's the case. My trunk is stuck closed. And key won't do anything. Is there a way you know how to unbolt the whole rear seat to be removed? For an example - when you had the bottom seat out was there bolts anywhere? Thanks for the help I really appreciate it. Can't seem to find any detailed video about the back seat for cavaliers. Thanks
Victor Nunez best bet would be a junkyard. Your not gonna get them in any retail location. Don't have to find your car though, any 2000-2006 low end gm car should have them.
thank you, the problem is iam from venezuela, here is very dificult, i would have to look for somebody to find them and send it to me, but i dont no how much could cost me that, thanks anyway

Thanks for posting! I was a little stumped how the clips worked as they were pushed all the way into their metal brackets.
Thank you for the detailed video and the only one I've for Sunfire/Cavalier. It helped me getting rca and amp power wire to the trunk.

Thank You for the video. If your seat has been out for a while the metal tab may require to be adjusted. Older cars were more intuitive design.
Thanks for the video. Cavalier 96 has the same attachment
Thanks took so long for this video
exellent video, alomst tear my seat from chevy cavalier 2004 (same principals) thanks for sharing
this also works for a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero thank you so much

Will this work on a 2001 Pontiac bonneville? Sorry if it’s spelled wrong

Time to make a Sunfire into a compact cargo truck
2001 cavalier is the same
97 cavalier, same.
it's the same as a 2004 Pontiac grandam
I just kinda pulled on mine and it came out 😂
2004 cavalier is the same
You must just like the sound of your voice all I want to know is how to take the seat out not your entire saga learning how to take it out
