Done it before; mainly trying to remember how to separate the connector. Thanks.

I'm going to have to do this replacement on my sister's Jeep Cherokee. Seems pretty straight forward but my question is...when you removed the coolant hose line, was there a lot of coolant that leaked out? Do you recommend having a bucket below or how should I tackle that part? Thanks!

Go with an aluminum radiator, the oem are usually plastic endtanks that crack and leak at the tank seams. Also if it still runs around 210 hate to say since you don't want to cut the hood up but vents help alot. Cherokee wasn't designed to have that big of a motor shoe horned in the bay so you get heat soak real bad.

If your coolant level isn't full then it could be an air pocket in your system. That would explain your temp running warmer or running hot at times. Fill up with one of those coolant filling funnels to ensure you get all the air out. If you continue to lose coolant level you either have a pinhole in your radiator, heat coil, or a cracked head. I had a small pinhole in my rad that didn't leak while park or running. But unload when driving you could smell coolant if you pop the hood. Over the next few weeks of driving, I noticed my overflow bottom level dropping. I Replaced the rad and cap and no coolant loss since.

make sure you tie down the wiring for your new Efan, i did the same thing on mine and the edge of the fan blade cut through the wires on mine.

Hey I have a 2000 XJ and I noticed my electric fan doesn’t come on. I noticed under your hood by the fuel rail you have wiring connected to the coolant sensor and another wiring that goes over the power steering. What is that other wiring connected to?

Kcars what brand did you use?? where did you purchse it?

a couple things, Kcars, your efan not coming on with your AC is fixable at the dealer, they can reprogram that, and it might not even cost any $$, im pretty sure there was repair bulletin on that issue with 2000-01XJs , check with your local dodge \Jeep dealer. i added a switch to my 2000 so when i turn my AC on, i turn on my Efan also, i wired mine to the stock rear wiper switch. ok I'll list my cooling systen for anyone else having cooling issues. newer stock replacement radiator, stock replacement water pump, ZJ fan clutch, 180° stat with burp hole drilled, 70%water\30% coolant mix in summer, WaterWetter coolant additive also in summer, new style curved blade Efan like Kcars installed, add switch to Efan circuit, make sure your mech fan shroud isnt broken or missing. thats it, mines cools like a champ in very humid heat in Michigan. even driving with the AC on full blast is no problem at all mine barely hits 190-195 on the hottest days. if you have a 2000-01 this is especially important to keep from overheating and cracking the Cylinder head

The best thing to do is put 180 high flow thermostat from Summit racing. I put it on my Cherokee it doesn’t even try going to 210 it stays like at 190. I feel like Jeep run too hot. I did the same thing on my 95 wrangler that has a 350 small block Chevy. I haven’t had an issue at all.

After all the cooling system mods, why not throw on a exhaust. Personally think a flowmaster super 44 would sound amazing.

  • @MaybachDay

You can get it to run if you just unplug the therm

So this fan is supposed to turn on when the AC is on? Because I turn on mine and it stays off 😐

  • @finkrueger1795

If you unplug the temp sensor, the electric fan should turn on, because the car doesn't know what temperature it is, therefore it'll activate the fan

I replaced my fan and it's still not turning on. The temp gauge goes up to the line after 210 still nothing
