- I wonder if Roman Polanski still remembers the goddess he once had, sorry to say someone he took advantage of. No doubt Roman remembers the the angel he found in The Fearless Vampire Killers, Sharon Tate.
I was only 1 when she was murdered but now as an adult it still makes me so sad how she was killed. So beautiful. I do think personally coming from another woman she truly was one of the most beautiful women that ever lived.
Sharon chose him and he chose her. They loved, adored and accepted eachother just the way they were. And they were (and are) both great. All my love to Roman, all my prayers for Sharon. I love you

You're absolutely right, leudrerrep. Roman was perceived as having treated Sharon terribly during their brief marriage and I think that's unfair. Sharon admitted in interviews that she was all too-aware of Roman's infidelities, etc.. and clearly, she accepted him as he was. She was quoted in this very video: "Roman is such a beautiful, mad human being.. Sometimes things are difficult, sometimes good.. but it makes life twice as interesting."
It's well known that Polanski controlled her life. Telling her what to wear and how to have her make-up. He wanted Sharon to have an abortion. When she didn't, Roman belittled her in public. After the murders, the LAPD found a videotape in which Roman forced Sharon to have a 3 some. While Sharon was being murdered Polanski was in London in the middle of yet another affair. If you watch the video that Jay Sebring's nephew put together of his uncle, Sharon's attorney let it be known that she filed divorce papers to end her marriage with Roman. He still has the papers. Roman is such an outstanding citizen that he went on to rape a 13-year-old girl in 1977. Instead of accepting his sentence, he ran off to France to avoid prosecution. Since then it's come out that he sexually abused even more girls. I feel bad for him that Sharon was murdered. He's nothing but a scumbag!
Great Video! Sharon Tate is the best thing that EVER happened to Roman Polanski! It's a pity it took her death for him to realize that. As your song says "You don't know what you've got until it's gone." And Roman found that out alittle too late!
Roman knew that and in an interview with his agent who is the one who took the phone call of Sharons murder...he has said the years of his time with Sharon were the happiest he has ever known...and this after him marrying and having 2 children...he will eternally love her and their son...

After the murders Doris Tate who had no background in hair cutting trained at Sebring's company and opened a salon called Tate's. I wonder if she felt the same. I cannot believe the Tates approved of Roman's philandering, or the fact he was away a mere 2 weeks before Sharon was to give birth, though at Sharon's funeral Doris was the one who held Roman has he broke down in the back of the limo. their love was what it was for that time, her death was horrible but at least she was with a dear friend when it happened so she didnt go alone, roman was an always will be a man who loves women,but at the end hell be thinking of sharon

Contrary to what's been said the trauma of her murder is something that only Polanski will be haunted by until the day he dies. Yet it can't be said that he drugged and raped a 13-year-old girl in 1977. There are people who've endured even more hell than Polanski. Yet they don't go out and sexually assault people.

In those days there was no support for crime victims. He seemed to go onto bury himself in his work for a number of years. During this time he made Chinatown. But I do not think he really got over Sharon's murder until at least 10 years after it happened.
10 years? Granted, I don’t know you and I have no idea of how many of your family members and close friends have passed away, so no disrespect is intended but in my experience we *never* “get over” the death of someone we truly love. He won’t ever be over it as long as he lives.
Everyone grieves differently though.
I think that the fact that she was so young and beautiful and was climbing the ladder of success in modeling and acting and was pregnant and so close to giving birth to their baby and was supposed to have her whole life ahead of her and the fact that she was killed so unexpectedly and so brutally made her death especially hard to deal with.
Sharon’s death broke him. The video of the press conference he called soon after the murders makes it abundantly clear how broken he was. You can see it on his face and hear it in his voice.
@@cmm2145 you misunderstand what I was saying, he told Charlie rose in 2000 that he doesn’t think about it that much anymore. And he asked him does Sharon seem far away, and he said Sharon seems far away. That doesn’t mean that he hasn’t forgotten what happened to her he said, stays with you you just learn to live with it. Eventually, he married his current wife and they have two adult children now. You are right that in the beginning her death and of the others left him broken he went for a long period of self-destructing, which ultimately led him having sex with Samantha Geimer, when she was only 13.
@@jvarela965 - Of course, the more time that passes since some kind of trauma happens the trauma fades a bit. We all have lives to lead and responsibilities and we have to return to those things at some point whether we’re ready to or not.
Maybe the term shouldn’t be “get over it”, “get past it”, or “get through it”. Better phrases could be “has adjusted” or “knows how to deal with the loss”. I just don’t like anything that sounds like “ok. I’m all finished grieving now.” Or “it’s back to normal” We never finish grieving for those we love the most. The grief slips under the surface at some point but it’s still there and it can come back in small pieces or all at once.

He didn't love nor respect Sharon. If he really did love her, he would have accepted his new role & responsibility of being a true, protective, & honorable husband. Sharon should still be with us, to this day.

I agree that Roman didn’t treat Sharon properly from things I’ve heard. He wasn’t keeping secrets though. She knew full well what he was doing before they got married and she married him anyway knowing that he wasn’t going to change because he told her that he wasn’t going to change.
Roman was never going to get the Husband of the Year award. Apparently Sharon loved him so much and wanted to be married to him so much that she was willing to settle. She was way out of Roman’s league and Jay was still in love with her, so she had options.
My personal opinion is that her marriage to Roman was a career move for her. She was new to acting and starting to make a name for herself. Being married to a well known successful director could help her career. Not that she didn’t love him. I believe she did love him and I believe he loved her in spite of how he treated her.
He didn’t have a good childhood from about age 6 and up. His family lived in Poland and they were Jewish. The Nazis invaded in 1939 when he was 6. His family was put in a ghetto. One day he came home and his family was gone. They’d been taken to Auschwitz (I think). He was taken by an anti-Nazi group who would take him to live with a family. The group had to move him around from family to family to keep him safe from the Nazis.
At some point after the war, he found out that his mother and sister were dead. His father was still alive.
I believe that his extremely difficult childhood played a part in who he grew up to be. That doesn’t take the responsibility of his behavior off of him but it should soften the way he is regarded.

We all are humans and we have a choice of being good or bad . Beauty is a rare thing and Sharon had it all beautiful inside and out . I feel so sorry that Roman lost the love of his life and son . Sharon will always and forever be 26 and eternal . I have her picture and pay tribute to her life . Roman loved Sharon and her and his son untimely death will forever haunt him. I pray for her and all those who lost their lives.

Well we'll never get to the bottom of how the state of the marriage was in 69, the book 'Repulsion' which is more based on the character of Polanski bases the birth of the son as her final hope on changing him according to Judy Gutowski (whether that meant she would have left him who knows). I know what u mean about the promiscuous 60's though! - Read alot of contrasting stuff though.

I'm sure that Roman remember Sharon. He loved her and he always talk about her with love and longing. I'm from Poland as Polański, and I'm sure that here he is a much bigger star than in the USA or another countries, so I can read more interviews and articles about him and his wife Emmanuelle. She also talks about Sharon with respect and she understands that Roman loved Sharon,but it's obvious that after 20 years (it's a very long perdiod of time)he got married once again and has children.

Apparantly what attracted her to him was his authority and power as a Director but also fell for his weaker side a person always trying to be the ultimate social host and needing attention. What I have read the marriage might not have lasted - lets face it he was bedding everything and she made it back to the States alone by ship and bus whilst pregnant alone, what a husband! I think he definitely loved and desired her. "In love" depends on your definition of the term. To me, it means you are so enthralled with that person, you want no one else, ever, and you always treat that person with the utmost respect, and this was not the case with Roman towards Sharon, alas, He was open to her about still wanting and having sex with other women. He could make disrespectful remarks to her at times. He's a bit of a male chauvinist, to put mildly.
However, upon news of her death, he crumpled to the floor, and kept wailing to his director friend of theirs, "Do you think she knew how much I loved her?" He knew he could have treated her better, no doubt. He still thinks of her often, according to his autobiography. He dedicated the movie "Tess" to her, as she recommended the book to him, as the subject for a future film. (My remarks are all based on remarks of the Tate family and Sharon's own remarks to them and close friends, btw, and also Roman's autobiography.)
