@bennyshambles For what it's worth the old Unwound site has an email from someone who asked Justin about his go-to tuning, and he told him it's DADGAD, so you're on the right track! Also (from his headstocks):
Tuning #1 : DAEAAD
used for : All Souls Day, Usual Dosage, Sonata for Loudspeakers, Devoid, Next Exit
Tuning #2 : F#AEAAD
used for : Dragnalus, Abstraktions, Honourosis, Lifetime Achievement Award, and others
So yeah, just thought people might be interested. Great cover also!
Awesome version. Thanks for sharing. I found you from your Sonic Youth covers but never explored your page. Pavement, Fugazi, Unwound, Gossip, Polvo, Sleater Kinney, QOTSA. You are my new favorite person ever on TH-cam.
Seeing somebody's fingers actually create these thick weird clusters in front of my very eyes makes me appreciate even more how otherworldly they are. THANKS!
In all seriousness though I am in love with Unwound
I never thought I'd see anyone covering Unwound songs on youtube! Seriously well done man, I'm going to get some heavy gauge strings and try this out myself. Unwound pretty much take top spot in my favourite bands ever list...
crazy good cover my guy this is spot on
Fantastic tone. Great job dude.
Nailed it dude.
Awesome JOB!
nice bedspread
nice bed sheet! and wallpaper!
bravo! also extremely well done.
Great STUFF
gracias
PS - I figured out "Unauthorized Biography" and "For Your Entertainment" in the DADGAD tuning as well, along with "Lady Elect" which is in standard.
hell yeah!
Would you mind doing the bass? One of my favorite songs ever.
Really like your taste in music. Keep up!
I have a play-along with the bass here:

@slackerVK - Definitely not, huh? Well OK, just a friendly suggestion. I know that tuning works really well for many of the songs I've figured out how to play. Standard and drop D are used often as well ("Fiction Friction" and "Usual Dosage" for example), along with minor tweaks such as F-A-D-G-B-E ("Arboretum"). Anyways, thanks again for putting this up.
nice.
@slackerVK
Thanx
I found the tuning from going to the shows and seeing the headstock and a getting pretty good approximation by videos and ear. Good tone though. How'd you dial it?
@slackerVK did you change the pick ups?
Unwound -Lowest common denominator pleaseee
@slackerVK
what tuning is it in?
Can i know what tuning you in ?
yeh
is this standard tuning?
what tuning is it in?
Thanks for putting this up, great job! I actually have a couple of suggestions. As far as the tuning, I think it's actually in DADGAD. But with that string being a whole step down, you only have to make minor adjustments to the riffs and chord clusters you've already figured out. I also think that the second shape you're playing during the chorus may be off. I think he actually goes down from the open_A/10/12 to open_A/9/7/8. OR, you can just invert the 10/12 and play a 12/10. Helpful?
nice dude! this gets a little boring on bass but its such sweet song.
standard tuning ?
I’m really curious about people here posting about being able to determine tuning by looking at the headstock. Wut??!!
Presumably Justin had them written out somewhere on the headstock. It would take some kind of literal genius to figure it out just looking at the tuning pegs
do POLVO!!!!
What tuning are you using?
I actually think it's in drop d, and i don't know why sometimes it feels like the b string is tuned down to an A, because of how he plays the verse, but then in the chorus he plays it like in standard. Idk, but i'm sure that it is in drop d
FIRST 😎✌️
One of the best rock songs of the 90's, in my humble opinion.
underrated, at the least.
