Jimmy said if you are a baker you will get burned, if you are a butcher you will get cut and if you are a fighter you will get hit. This is a great video that demonstrates commitment to the fight.
Great video Mike, the art is being softened up these days. Not good for sansoo, we need those strong shifts for power. These guys are doing pitty-pat garbage & it makes the art look bad. Thank God 4 Master Mike, Master Lee & Sifu Jerry for still teaching the right way!!!
Can't believe people still accept this art for what its teachers say it is. I had a brown belt in San Soo, 2nd generation lineage from Jimmy H. Woo. 6 Weeks of muay thai showed me how ridiculous and ineffective San Soo really is. Learning ju jitsu and how to actually control a body also confirmed this. Who blocks punches in a real fight? Who says " i'm just gonna grab the wrist and fling him where I want him" ? San soo is simply not effective on the street and most students haven't even sparred "cause its so deadly". No sparring means you have no idea of distance and when you are or aren't safe. That's kind of the basics of striking. Notice all the lessons are taught with an attacker announcing their attacks exaggerating movements in unrealistic ways. San Soo would be better if the teachers were to update to the real world and reconcile with modern standards. San Soo has always professed to have a mixed approach and full balance of street fighting yet they haven't adjusted to actually beat a typical MMA student or even get close. AKA. A beginner in Ju Jitsu would likely take out a San Soo brown belt 9 times out of 10. A Thai boxer would knock a san soo guy out most times while the san soo practitioner was probably busy trying to grab his wrist. Once San Soo is brought up to a decent enough level, the ideology of San Soo may then actually be effective. I'm not trying to hate here but I think San Soo has always marketed itself off of a false sense of confidence. I don't think that's right. It's heart breaking and I personally was burned by studying and working hard for years and years, wasting money to only find a few weeks in another art was more effective than anything san soo ever taught me.
What a sad experience you had. Sounds like you didn't have competent teachers. San Soo was the perfect art for me and what I learned never let me down in a real fight. Can't imagine help but feel bad for you and your lack of truly understanding what the art is about and how it works. Stick with what works for you. Stick with what you believe in...
A very good instructor of Kung Fu San Soo. I had the pleasure of training with Miguel. I learned so much training with him.
One of the best things I did to improve my San Soo was to study Tai Chi.We took the eight basics for granted and it is the foundation of this art.
Fantastic demo of fundamental concept. We'll done Master Lopez,
Salute

Been a while, would love to see some new content
This is how you move in San Soo young padawans... learn it well.
Are you going to do anymore videos?
What you refer to as "shift," others may call "pressing the horse," or "hardening the horse." Different terminology; same principle.
@Miguel Lopez Have a brown sash in Kung Fu San Soo. Instructor moved to Colorado. Would like to train again.
this guy is the best teacher I have seen in San Soo
Good to know. My job takes me everyplace. Could easily relocate anywhere and train again one day.
Nice!
Sorry I've never heard of this teacher. Who did he get his teaching from. How long did it take to become a master.
