Honestly, all you need is Tamron 27-75 2.8 First version used, you can buy it as cheap as 500usd. AND trust me when I say this, 955 of your clients will not care at all if your competitors shoot on 28-70f2. If your storytelling is better. Best business decision.
I own the Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 and for a second I thought about selling it for this lens, but then I compared the actual focal range/aperture. So the Sony is 28-70mm f2, the Tamron on the other hand 35-80mm is an f2-2.5 (and beyond, up to 150mm at f2.8) but I compared a similar range... so we are losing 2/3 stop of light but gaining range and versatility, especially for events. Yes it's heavier a longer, but literally allows you to shoot everything without switching lenses, 70mm is good but not enough for events, also doesn't give you crazy compression. And honestly the difference between f2 and f2.5 lets say (comparing both at 70mm) is really not much of a difference, nowadays with dual ISO (in video) or going from ISO 3200 to ISO 5000 in case of a photo. Topaz AI can clean both photos and videos easily.
@@g_lantos great insight! I contemplated getting the Tamron 35-150 I ended up getting the sigma 28-45 1.8 and the Tamron 70-180 g2. I love the versatility the 35-150 gives and it’s definitely a lens I’d rather buy over this Sony 28-70.
lol ! I definitely get it! I’m not a master at color grading but I have a little flow going. For TH-cam I’m just trying to put content out so I’m not doing that much grading. In 2025 I plan on doing as much learning as possible to get to another level with grading. I plan on documenting my progress so we can learn together lol 💯. I’m finally making the switch to da Vinci resolve. So be on the look out.
I am considering buying the 28-70 over the 24-70 Sony because I shoot a lot of basketball and it would give me a different look than everybody shooting the 2.8. I do wonder if the Sigma 24-70 gen 2 would focus fast enough to give me the images I want that would match the Sony native glass...and then maybe I don't buy the 2.0. As you can see, I haven't fully decided yet.
@@joshua4578 I definitely get what you’re saying! If you get it you definitely won’t regret it. If your shooting sports I think the new sigma 24-70 2.8 will hold up well. Also you could probably benefit more from the new Sigma 28-105 f2.8. I think that extra reach will go a long way. But all in all you can’t really make a bad choice! Let me know what you end up going with. I’m interested in knowing 💯.
@@damianotchere I shoot photo exclusively. The only reason I'm considering the native Sony glass is if I ever go A1 or A9iii and want the full FPS those cameras offer.
@@joshua4578 Oh okay! Yes I definitely get it. I know you get a major advance with sports photography using the native Sony glass. For that reason alone I would definitely go 24-70 Sony version 2 or this 28-70. Honestly if you have the extra money I would just save for the 28-70. Something to consider if your going to be shooting sports you should look into the Sony 70-200 GM version 2 the af on that lens is mind blowing and it has OSS. Film makers do not need this - this lens is way too sharp & fast - it will also work great on the new Alpha 1 ii / A9 3since it has quad linear motors up to 120 Fps - 😂

Sweet looking video brother, is that Phantom LUTs?
Thank you brother! Yes I did use a phantom neutral lut then did some grading. Just curves, saturation, and some color adjustments.
