    I suggest redoing the video, as you say maharashi where it is maharishi

    Min 6:19 Brian Espstein the films producer??? That's not right. Brian Epstein was the Beatle's manager.

    Yes, Sexy Maharashi doesn't quite have the same ring to it.🤣

    From what I read the whole claim that the Maharashi put the moves on someone (whether it be Mia Farrow or whoever) while attending a course turned out to be unsubstantiated. Still, it's a good story and it made for a good song.

      No, not unsubstantiated. I know the woman involved...it wasn't Mia. I had an intimate relationship with him which I write about in my book Robes of Silk Feet of Clay. That's why I can believe the actual woman's story.

    This time is darker than I understood. I've only heard about their time with the Maharishi anecdotally. Might be worth reading up on it.

      This video is making it heavier than it was. I lived through those times and was a close observer of the Beatles. Lennon was having troubles with drugs and direction in his life far apart from the teachings of the Maharishi. The trip to India was a bust and began the spiral down to the end of the Beatles. And, the video gets it wrong. The Maharishi wasn't trying to bang Mia Farrow, it was Mia's younger sister that the old fart preyed upon. Lennon immortalized Mia's sister in the song "Dear Prudence."

    This song, sexy sadie, could also apply to, susan "sadie" atkins, verse by verse with absolute perfection. Just maybe the beetles were talking to manson and they did'nt even know it.

      The Manson family was obsessed with this album and read a lot into it (mistakenly). Piggies and Helter Skelter were of particular significance to them.

    Quoting Nietzsche really doesn't imbue the Pop songs of these mystic 'day tripper' scousers with any additional weight, substance or dark wisdom no matter how talented or memorable. Just enjoy brilliant Pop music for what it is: unpretentious.

    John Lennon was a great song writer, but not a fantastic judge of character. The "Guru" was a con man. John got conned, that's all. John was a self righteous little prude to let this sequence bother him at all. He was ashamed, and disillusioned that he had been fooled. He was very mad about all this, and if you listen to early versions of this song - before they changed the words - it's clear. Listen to the version on Anthology.

      I agree. And later, he was conned by Allan Klein. Not a really wise leader.

    The song was written subconsciously about Susan Atkins aka Sadie Mae Glutz.

    • @richardwagner4460
      @richardwagner4460 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The album was released in November 1968, FROM Wikipedia: Manson's followers committed a series of nine murders at four locations in California, over a period of five weeks in the summer of 1969. Known within the Manson family as Sadie Mae Glutz or Sexy Sadie, Atkins was convicted for her participation in eight of these killings, including the most notorious, the Tate murders in 1969 So how exactly could that song have been written about her? Not being a smart ass, just clarifying the timeline.

    Everything in your video is likely true, but I think they also needed a way to get out and move on. When the Beatles needed to do something harsh, they relied on Lennon. That is why he was the leader of the band. He was just doing his job. Sometimes when you want to get out, the best way is to create a ferocious fight so there is no possibility of reconciliation. After that kind of fight you will be truly free of what was holding you in place.

      Hardly any of it is true. By 1968 John Lennon had lost interest in the Beatles. He wanted to build his life with Yoko Ono and stayed with the band for 2 reasons (1) contractual obligations and (2) Money. Paul McCartney filled the vacuum of head cheerleader and song creator along with George Martin. Sgt Pepper's was largely a production from McCartney and Martin so they had a competitive edge over John. McCartney couldn't generate the fire in the group that Lennon had. The songs and productions went steadily downhill to the point that Lennon, Harrison and Ringo (as an afterthought) decided to go their own way without McCartney.

      Everything except the way he mispronounced Maharishi as “Maharashi”. Mispronounced it every single time. Didn’t get it right once.

    It’s “Maharishi” not “Maharashi” as you mispronounced literally EVERY single time in the video.
