This is different for everyone and impossible to predict. In my experience of failed relationships I’ve found that no contact has worked most of the time.

Seems counterintuitive, but I have found that SMART Contact works very well for many 👏🏾

I felt heartbroken and empty when my husband demanded no contacted and then controlled limited contact. It only pushed me away and made me realize I deserved better.

Kimberley and anyone else struggling with compulsive use of acronyms I suggest you join the A.A.A.A.A which is the Australian Association Against Acronym Abuse.

Its more for you to respect their decision and give them what they asked for. Why stay where you’re not wanted? If they change their mind they know what they have to do.

You talk about manage items together what if you don’t have any more items together. What are topics you can talk about. What is neutral. Is there a way you can expand on that of what topics to talk about where there’s no business or children

Don't you think no contact is immature? When is it time to grow up? I know there are other factors concerning no contact, like abuse.

When there is a broken trust and their is Narcissistic and BiPolar issues at hand, the No contact method has helped me tremendously. I tried SMART contact for a while, but there was weird manipulation occurring within each item inside SMART contact method, where she would be one way in one encounter and another way during the next encounter: Stopping the push behaviors, Managing the business items together, Allowing them to respond, Respond in a way that’s calm and gentle, Take it one day at a time. Tho I believe in SMART contacts theory and form, if your dealing with a person with deep emotional and possibly mental issues it’s very hard to use.

But how do you do this when you've been cut off and the only contact you get is from your in laws because your spouse is having a breakdown and went to be there and cut contact to get help.

Will you hurt them?... Probably... Maybe... But without initiating dialog & communication you will foster a felling of not being needed and you should move on. IF your situation necessitates a clean break, cutting out a person for your own benefit, and you WANT to move on with your life... then no contact is that path.

No contact doesn't work and isn't fair. It is manipulative. I'm stuck because of this. I lost everything because he only wanted the green card and needed to justify his behavior with abuse and project it all on me.

I agree no contact feels very manipulative.
