  • This is a 1944 Canadian WS-52 Radio Receiver that was used during the second world war. Covers 1.75 to 15 MHz in three bands and works well for what it is. Has internal crystal calibrator, IF and audio filters and noise limiter. It uses weird Marconi APR3 tubes. Its working with a twelve volt DC to DC power supply so it can be used in the field.

I have just been gifted one of these sets in an unknown condition, if I can resurrect it, it will fill a gap in my ever growing collection of "boat anchors". Yours seems a particularly nice example, and seems to perform extremely well.
    Wish me luck!

I do realise that the background noise is there for a reason, but I feel that if it was "a bit further in the background" we would be able to hear your narrative... Very interesting set btw 😊

I had a 53 set transmitter a single 813 tube and it had a large fan on the left hand corner . It looks the same in apperence and made in Canada it might well be the companion tx for your rx

This will come in handy when they cut the grid

Very nice radio. Personally, I think the BC-348 is an ugly radio, but its place in history makes it beautiful.

Nice. I've not seen one of these before.
Why is it so big compared to a 19 Set? I thought the top part would be a power supply only.
    G4GHB.
