Picking our new Graphite Discovery 4 next week!!!! Had landrovers for 30 years. SOOO excited! Shukas in Ludlow are amazing, (almost) as excited as we were...no, actually AS excited as we were, esp me! Need this gorgeous beast for dogs, towing horses, sheep trailer, logs from our wood. It's going to be busy and dirty! XXX
Owned my Discovery 4 SE Tech now for nearly six years - 65 plate. I love it to bits - have not driven any rivals so maybe there are better choices - but I do not care as I am so happy with what I have. I used to drive a series 2A Land Rover and equally loved that but as am older now and appreciate the refinement of the Disco 4. It has been reliable and so very versatile allowing me to transport a large wardrobe or take two of us with huge luggage and two dogs touring in the Highlands across rough terrain on Isla or trans versing the "Bealach na Bà" to Apple Cross. Comfortable and hugely versatile this car does nothing outstandingly but does everything incredibly well - except off road where only a Defender or Rubicon will best it - but not in such comfort or style. Am I biased - the hell I am ;-)
I've owned my discovery 4 for about 5 months and it's awesome love it as much as you can love a car lol it's pull a big double axle caravan like the wind it's just got to be the best 4X4 by far
I’ve had loads of cars mercs Range rovers all sorts. But this D4 I just love it. Silver and black I just find my self starring at it. It stands so well looks the part it’s not posing like a Range Rover it just looks like it built to do a job and I can not believe how it drives the engine and gearbox couldn’t be any better. It’s just right. This one I’ll keep until we can’t have them any more.
I bought my 2015 HSE Lux in 2020, shortly before the arrival of my fifth child. I needed a big car. Something with space for prams and travel cots and suitcases for holidays. Something that was practical and could take what our family life threw at it. We have loved it. Yeah, it’s been costly to run (averaging 27mpg) but you don’t buy a car like this if you’re worried about fuel economy. Servicing costs can be high. Parts have needed replacing. But it’s a 7 year old car. A big, heavy car. It was an expensive car in its day. None of this was unexpected. I’ve looked for more modern replacements but there simply isn’t anything that does all of the things my Discovery does. It’s going to be a tall order to replace it so for now, I keep paying the bills and looking forward to driving it in the worst weather conditions that nature can throw at us.
Well here we are on April 2023 and I have recently switched from a £115k 21 P400X Defender to a 2016 D4 Landmark with 21k miles and have to say I’m preferring the D4. Yes the tech is a bit outdated but all the Pivi screens, digital dash, HUD, 360 cameras etc just some how don’t make this (for me) a significantly better driving experience. So pleased with the D4 and the LR extended warranty. A timeless masterpiece IMO 🤓😎🙏
The Discovery is a nice, comfortable family car with lots of space. Compared to my previous Volvo XC90 it's much quiter, posher and more luxurious. But on the other hand, the multimedia device is even more outdated than that of the 12 year old XC90! It is even impossible to display the folders on your iPhone or to select another album by the touchscreen. Even more crap is the sat nav. I think, it was old fashioned even in the nineties.
Got seduced by the new Range Rover Sport and not unhappy with the switch but I loved my Disco 4 and sometimes miss it. Just so versatile and whilst not quite in RR country, plush and a nice place to be. Infotainment lags behind others although a new system has been launched in the new Discovery Sport.
Definetely the best car in the world! even better off-road than the Defender, almost as comfortable as the Range Rover and for me with it's uniqueness better looking then anything that is now on sale. Hope that it will be produced for the next ten years...

This has been my dream car for a few years and I FINALLY (!) managed to place an order for my own one last week :) Enjoyed the review, even if (as Simon Spall pointed out), the tester wasn't aware of how to use the rear seats properly....
John Hooker I like mine better than my previous Jeep and Fords. Very easy to drive on and off road. I like the heavy feeling, not cheap rattle boxes. If you drive kids or even adults its better than the Range Rover. The Range is nice but its a bit smallish for passengers.
Dan Cooper2001 Still not got it yet, it should arrive at the dealer at the very end of July and it makes a lot of economic sense to wait until September the 1st for delivery :( I shall see if I manage to hold out until then!

I am considering buying a 2015 discovery but am slightly concerned regarding its reliability. I have been researching on social media and I believe that there are some major issues with the 3lt diesel engine. Have any of you experienced any issues with the engine or suspension? Much appreciated.
Well I own one, and they are fantastic. Just to point out the chap in the video didn't display the seats properly, they do in fact fold down perfectly flat, and the third row is not exited, or entered for that matter from the boot!
I bought the SE TECH in July this year , fantastic car, My previous car was a discovery 2 , 2002 another great car but you cant compare the two cars 13 years difference in the technology. I only hope the d4 is as good as the one I had for 13 trouble free years.
I owned a 2002 d2 bought new , best car i have ever owned, 117,00 miles when sold to my next door neighbor in August 2015, only replaced rear air springs and wiring harness to fuel injectors, due to oil contamination, and normal brake pads.
I love the Land Rover trucks... My best friend here in Chicago has an Land Rover LR 3. Even though it is an older version, that has what got me to like the land Rover series.....Nice...
im so glad to see this boxy discovery. i just saw a "discovery sport" and was disgusted at its boring design and reminded me of a smaller version of the toyota sequoia.

The Discovery 5 is still good for offroading, but it's built on top of a Jag (Jaguar).
