  • Today, we're going to tie into our last video on global affairs, by calculating a comprehensive breakdown of the ethno-racial makeup of the entirety of the planet, as well as how this has changed over the course of human history, and what's it's likely to be in the future.
Be sure to let me know your thoughts on the past, current and future demographic makeup of humanity, and what do you think the future holds for our species? Do you think we will ever conquer other planets? Thanks for watching, and thanks for 100K subscribers!

@Di Vepets Genetically speaking Caucasians and Iranians are similar to Semites as they have been neighbors and exchanged genes for thousands of years. Just because they speak different languages doesn't mean they aren't genetically similar. Caucasians and Iranians share far more genes with Semites than they do with Europeans, people get way too hung up on language families instead of genetics.

Most speak a variety of Chinese but they look pretty different.

Watched it last night. Interesting movie. Couple of question marks: Why did they use South African Black English? English accents vary greatly in Africa itself, with the biggest disparities obviously between the largely French north and more English south, although local languages also cause plenty of interference. English speakers in central Africa have a completely different accent to those in the south (nothing racist in my observation - accents do naturally vary by location) I just wonder why they used a southern accent for central Africa?
I also wonder why they used a white South African as a "baddie"? Apartheid ended in 1994. The soldiers who fought for that government are presently in their 50s and 60s. The white population has dropped from around 20% of the total under Apartheid to 8% of the total today and continues to shrink. They are an oppressed minority living under discriminatory laws. Why does Hollywood persist in casting white South Africans in this light? Elon Musk is a white South African!

Masaman, there is NO Latin American racial group. The population of Latin America is 60 percent European, 20 percent mestizo/ castizo/ pardo, (in that order), 12 percent African/mulato, 7 percent is Native American or indigenous (mostly from Mexico, Guatemala, Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador). And Asians constitute approximately 1 percent of the population.
The term Latin America only refers to francophone, luso phone, or Hispano phone countries of the American Continent or continents. Hence, Surinam, Guyana, and the anglophone islands of the Caribbean should not be included within Latin America.
Also the term Latino is a US created term to identify people of Latin American heritage living within the borders of the US just like Hispanic.
The English term for people who live in Latin America is Latin American. By contrast, in Spanish the term may be Latino Americano or just Latino. But not in English.

Max Cruz you are way off on your affirmation. Most Argentines are of European stock. Most Mexicans are mestizos or castizos-European, Native American. A majority of Brazilians are of European stock.
So, is Gisele Bündchen African, indigenous, or a moor?
How about Lío Messi or Pope Francis? African, indigenous, or a moor?
      How about Guillermo Del Toro?
      African? Indigenous? A moor???
To begin with, the moorish component of Spaniards is about 2 to 8 percent and found only in about 2 percent of the population of Spain. The amount of African slaves to Argentina and Mexico was very minimal, unlike Brazil and the Caribbean. For example, why would Mexico require a big number of slaves, if they had the “encomienda de Indios”???

Thanks for an actual answer to my question. I suppose I was asking for crystal ball gazing. I do wish I could be alive though, to see the new races, and even the new species that will develop when humankind moves off the earth.
I'm a fairly old guy with some knowledge of genetics but no real background in anthropology or archeology. The topics really are interesting. I just recently found this channel, and the videos are fascinating. However, I am beginning to see a really unfortunate negative that seems to come with the territory. I ask an innocent question, and I've already received one response from a guy who is obviously outraged over something, and another from a clear fanatic. I thought the use of "miscegenation" died with the Third Reich. My daughter is majoring in anthropology in college, and i just hope she isn't going to have to deal with these people for the rest of her life.

      Feminazi frequency
Maybe, but it doesn't seem to fit what I observe. I certainly agree that we will always be tribal, and will mingle with those most "like us". But what does "like us" mean? When I meet a new person, their physical appearance is the first thing I notice, and color may be the easiest thing to notice about their appearance. But if I'm attracted to a woman, by the time I'm thinking about looking for a ring I know whether she and I have similar values, similar interests, similar educational levels and similar senses of humor, and those factors are really much more important than her skin color. Her skin color is extremely important if marriage will get both of us disowned by our families and abandoned by our friends, but that just doesn't seem to happen any more. In the early '80s I hired a black physician as an expert witness in a case I was working (I'm a lawyer), and his wife was white. He told me about the hostility both he and his wife experienced with their respective families and old friends. I meet interracial couples today, and nobody gives a damn. If one of my children married an African American or Asiatic person, it wouldn't bother me at all. If they married a low life criminal, I'd be extremely disappointed regardless of the bum's race. In Europe, differences in skin color seem to mean even less than they do to millennial Americans.
I look at the animal world, and animal groups gather not based on unimportant genetic variances, but on familial closeness of group members. That also happens with humans, and that's the part I hope never changes.

I believe the first statement is right. In Latin America everybody is so mixed that we dont care about race anymore, and census dont even ask about race or ethnicity. If interbeeding becomes a huge phenomenon as it was in the colonial era in Latin America I'm sure that the concept of race will eventually become void. But no one can assure whats going to happen.

  • @carlopton
    @carlopton 6 ปีที่แล้ว +21

It appears to me that the "mixed race" segment of the human population is set to become a majority. Especially in certain areas of the world. I think that more people are of mixed ancestry than they might think. An example would be in the early 1800's in the USA. If you looked white and had to fill out the census you would select white if you could. The reasons are obvious. A self example: My last name is Celtic, but during the Civil War, the actual paternal line was Norman French. My ancestor was abandoned by the paternal person and a Celtic veteran married her and raised my direct paternal ancestor. In my genetics breakdown there is a large Mediterranean percentage, which was very obvious in the olive complexion and black hair on my maternal side. But they had no idea of that, and they thought it came from our cousins on the Cherokee reservation. I also have a large genetic percentage of West Asian. Also no idea how that came to be. Odd thing is that I look like a Scottish/Irish person. My genetics say I am about 40% northern European. I think as time goes on, the appearance will be less important than in how you self identify and live your life. NOTE: Please do not be offended if I do not respond to any comments on what I have wrote. There are far too many folks using the internet to demonstrate just how ignorant and hateful they can be. To quote one person that commented on a reasoned personal opinion: "if you had a brain". What a complete waste of time. Trying to dig thru the garbage to find reasoned courteous comments, and perhaps respond, is just too difficult for me. It is tiresome. I find it very sad. Take it easy all.

Ashkenazi Jews were NOT "so heavily integrated into European populations" from a genetic standpoint. They have about 15% Northern/Eastern European ancestry, with the rest being Middle Eastern and Mediterranean. Culturally, it was more complex, but for the most part they were a distinct ethnic group with explicit Middle Eastern roots.
Classifying "Jews" as a distinct group is completely appropriate seeing as the vast majority of modern Jews fall within a genetic continuum from the Eastern Mediterranean into West Asia, they have historically shared a common ethnic/ancestral identity, common language (Hebrew), common religion (which encompasses every aspect of life), and today share a common land (almost half live there and the majority feel a direct cultural/ethnic connection to it).
Also, southern Slavs are genetically totally distinct from northern Slavs. Romanians are genetically mixed with Italic influences, but either way Bulgarians and Serbs genetically fall closer to Greeks than they do to Poles. Linguistics is NOT a 1-1 indicator of ancestry.

    • @oupsoups2770

He said that at the beginning of the video that geographically close groups have often more in common than language family groups but theres no way you can present something like that on a map. You are right I myself am a pole and i have never met a bulgarian or serbian that looks polish to me. As for askhenazi i read somewhere that they maintained only 20% of the semit genes. However, the rate of intermerriage between them and spehadric is so high that soon all israeli jews will be mixed except for hasidic.

"Latin American" should be a racial category in your map. We do not see ourselves as black or white or whatever, as those are Anglo racial categories and in no way connected to our identity. We see ourselves as "Latino" and that's it. Even then, a sense of shared "Latino" identity isn't very strong, but it hits closer to home than classifying us as "Mestizo", "Black", or "White". These concepts of racial identity are rather foreign to us.

Latino is pretty much a racial category at this point. In the vast majority of cases (easily over 90%), Latinos are some sort of mix between Mediterranean Europeans and Native Americans, with a bit of Black admixture depending on the region.
It's like saying Europeans are not a race, and instead you divide them between Middle Eastern farmers and Indo-European nomads. It's goofy. Latin Americans are a race, with gradual degrees of Native American and Mediterranean ancestry. Same as Europeans, that also happen to be a race formed by different peoples in the distant past. In short, Latino or Latin American is very much a racial category. Being nit-picky because of some German living in Southern Brazil is pretty damn autistic.

Feminazi, congratulations on talking to socially marginalized people on the internet, largely influenced by American imageboard culture. No, I am sorry to inform you that White Brazilians and White Argentinians do not have separate identities from your average "mixed-race" individual that lives in any of those countries. Plain and simple, it's not true. Swarthy Argentinians are just as cocky and pretentious for being Argentinian, as those of 100% Italian descent. Neither of these groups see themselves as being anything other than Argentinian, and neither of these people would even put each other's "Argentinianness" into question.
I am glad that race is an important aspect of your identity, but race in the Anglo context is not really a thing for us. That is all you need to understand.

No... Latin America is only 60% Mestizo, not 90% get your facts straight. Didn't you see the video?
And while Latinos may not see race, this is not accurate... Take for example Hugo Chávez and Nicolas Maduro. Both Latinos from the same country who probably see eachother as the same race. But anyone with an eyesight can tell that they're clearly not. One is afro Latino and the other one is a Mestizo ...
Take for example Mauricio Macri, Enrique Peña nieto and Evo Morales, they are all "latinos" but none of them are the same race. One is white, the other one is Mestizo, the other one is native... The only one who is probably aware that he's of a different race is Evo due to being raise in a different culture (He's ethnically Aymara so his culture is different from that of a regular Latino)
