Personally when I found out about Richard Pryor not using the N word anymore because he came back from his experiences in Africa I really admired him for that. Even though his stand up may not have been “as funny” as it used too be but me I’ve rarely used the N word and I don’t even let my fellow friends use it with me *but they can use it with each other* 🤷🏾♂️

The other thing that is also left out of the "suffering conversation" is the issue of colorism. The darker your skin, the more you are likely to be oppressed and remain discriminated against.
Jewish people went through horrible suffering, particularly European Jewish people. However, when many of them were able to escape to the United States, they changed their last names and raised their children to speak American English so that in many ways, they were able to cloak or hide their Jewish heritage because they still had white skin. It was their form of passing the way that some light skinned or mixed black Americans would do to try to get by and America.
Same with the Irish. They were oppressed for a while, but at the end of the day, they had white skin, so as they continued to have babies and multiply, their accents went away, and they had white skin and were able to meld into white American society.
This is not so with black people or Native Americans or even Asians Who were unable to cloak themselves as "white." The closer an ethnicity's proximity to whiteness, the better they are treated historically.
