    I love the fact that you dive in and tackle the door that won't close properly. Why do think the garage couldn't fix what seems a fairly straightforward repair?

    • @lifeadventureprojects
      @lifeadventureprojects  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey bud, good question. We took it to 2 different garages. Garage 1 - we got it back and although they had aligned the door better they made the hook at the bottom (holds the door open) worse and was bent backwards. We should have taken it back but we just never found the time and then as more time went by we just moved on. I then tried to fix myself and made it all worse and misaligned the door badly. So, months go by and onto Garage 2 - they got the alignment sorted and made it better. However maybe we explained it wrong to them but they never realised the hook was not holding the door open. The reason for this is because I have door stoppers on the slider, this means it can hold the door open. What annoyed me is they didn’t even check to ensure all elements of the door worked despite telling them. So we get to the garage for collection, I check and realise not fixed. They said it was closing time so would need to go back. We drove off and quite frankly could not be assed going back. Hence fixing it myself. I have a low tolerance with garages, over priced and always do the minimum it feels. Haha Glad I bought a new part though, the door closes so much better now, nice and smooth and no longer needs slamming shut. My thoughts, why does a garage not look at it and see these things are not working properly and recommend a proper fix? Annoying. Haha

    Hi Andy, loving the build. A quick word of warning about the resetable 12v fuses, they break easily meaning they dont trip. starting to see more and more of them fail. youtube - "12v fuse reset" top link should be Urban Vanlife, watch their vid. Best to be safe than sorry,

    I would kinda warn about getting such a big battery without upgrading your charging infrastructure. 12V batteries in campers are kinda pain in the ass due to the high currents involved. I have a DIY 280AH 12V lifep04 battery. Despite having a 50A charger, it still takes ages to charge it. It is much more efficient to get a 24 or a 48v system involved. The problem with that is that you need to add an extra alternator. The benefit is that you can charge your whole 400AH (equivalent) battery in 1 hour. My current system needs almost 6 hours of driving to go from 0 to full. If you were to opt for a 400A system, you would almost have to drive 8 hours for that. Which is quite unrealistic. While solar is nice, it is a drop in the bucket compared vs charging by the alternator. I would advice you to think about that before you spend that money on a big 12V system.
