    One of the coolest things abt Florence is her speaking voice. It's so soft. And then that BOOMING voice comes out when she sings. It's almost unexpected. And her live performances sound exactly the same as her recorded ones. She is a true artist.

      She seems so shy and quiet when talking to people in interviews and even seems to be nervous about the attention she gets but then when she's on stage performing, she's a force to be reckon with!

    As a metal fan id have to admit ive got Florence in my collection, her vocal talent keeps me listening.

      I mean... Florence Welch's vocals makes metal sound soft AF 🤷 almost anyone with a little bit of control over their vocal chords can sing in metal voice.
      I don't think I've come across almost anyone that can come close to sounding like Florence Welch, Hailey Reinhart or Adele do 🤷

      The only people I would rate over her are people who I have historical sentimental regard for. Honestly, take that away, and I'm not sure anyone can touch her on versatility, breath work, timbre and control. I'm pretty sure even someone like Joan Sutherland would be incredibly impressed 🥰🥰

    You said exactly what I was thinking about Florence.. A true artist. All aspects. Thank you for introducing me to this. Every song I hear is for my love and videos are always amazing performances. First time for me. Let he mention what it was about he gave me a better perspective of what was happening with all the non-verbal.

      This song is on her 2018 album, "High As Hope," but definitely musically and thematically is closer in style to the songs and theme of her 2022 follow-up album, "Dance Fever." It's dark, powerful, and heavy just like most of her Dance Fever songs are.

    Florence, brings together influences from Kate Bush, Janis Joplin but also her own powerful identity. And to me; she feels the words in the performance. All the great performances bring life into the words. Michael Jackson, Céline Dion, Florence and the Machine. My fav is dog days are over.

    I was surprised you chose this song of hers, Florence is an insanely good vocalist and this doesn't showcase that.
    But I love this song too. Sometimes it's not about how many notes you can hit and proper technique that make a song or make vocals great and while she has the ability to do both, I think people forget that technique in every capacity at its maximum isn't the goal.
    The lack of it in tribal and rock singing is what makes it connect.

    Interesting how Columbia had Grace VanderWaal all set up for all her new releases, put on stage with Imagine Dragons and Florence then Covid hit and they haven't bothered with her since. She had to do it all by herself since then. Remember Grace?

  • @michaelpeters364

    I think the lyrics work on many levels... yes, she got the idea from being ghosted... but in a way you could say God ghosts everyone and I think she'd talking about that, too... and there are likely a few more layers under that There's something very tribal and pagan, and a reclaiming of strength to it....
    The floating dancers bit was inspired by the Goya painting Witches' Flight

    I had a questionable pleasure to be routinely ghosted by a psychopath, who made me fall in love with them with sweet words and making me feel like I'm being understood deep inside. Then he liked to disappear for a few days to make me worried. And then came back again to fuel the spark again. And again. And again. I feel like this song is about a similar experience.

    Really good voice...not too familiar with her. Remember 'Shake it out' ...thought she sounded a bit like Adele. Nice to showcase her here. Touching.

    • @iTeacupPanda
      @iTeacupPanda ปีที่แล้ว +1

      She's pretty outstanding. Amazing artist, I'd say the best out right now.
      I don't think she sounds anything like Adele though, they're both English but Adele is more . . . classic soul like Aretha where Florence is more Annie Lennox?
      But yeah she can ATTACK with her vocals or show restraint. This era and her newest she is showing more restraint but if you're an Adele fan she has some soulful songs like " Lover to Lover " you might enjoy

    • @carolmartin4413
      @carolmartin4413 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iTeacupPanda yep...I agree she and Adele's voices are different. I think it was more a sense of similarity because they can both 'jump notes' quickly/powerfully. Both great singers. Did listen to 'Lover to Lover' ...another explosive sound. Getting to know her music more. Thanks

    • @iTeacupPanda
      @iTeacupPanda ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carolmartin4413 Yeah, they are both insane vocally. They also are decently friendly and worked the same clubs in London.
      Adele said Florence's album was the only one she really remembered enjoying in 2015 and said she's always excited to hear new releases from her. And Florence has said nice things back. So they're very respectful to eachother which is nice to see.
      and absolutely. There is sort of " in the studio " acoustic version of Lover to Lover that is really fun to watch, you really see her go in and attack notes if you're into that.
      She's very broad in terms of sound.
      She does a lot of 60's - 70's rock sounding stuff lately, but with a twist in some of it.
      She's really fun to get into

    • @user-Mike8290
      @user-Mike8290 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most music videos are the exact song on the album, that's why it's not called a live performance, it's an advertisement for the song the are selling

    • @iTeacupPanda
      @iTeacupPanda ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a music video . . . . everyone lipsyncs during a music video?
      She's an insane vocalist live though. But I mean this isn't a technique driven song where that's the focus anyway, if anything it strays from vocal norms and "proper"
