Here's a mini review of the Octopus Kraken OCT-0016. Which is an homage of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King - Ref. 15210.

Cheers mate. Yeah, you take it for granted. Just little things like not being able to carry stuff up or downstairs, due to the crutches.
The other day I thought I'd try going up with just the one. I got up just fine, but then I couldn't get back down again. I had to get someone to go down and get my other crutch 🤭
Well done, I bought this model (same colour) 2 months ago and it has become one of my favorites as I'm a big fan of this kind of bezel. For information it's not an OP Air King 14010 homage as they were "no date" watches, nor is it a mix and match between different Rolex models, it's an homage to the Oyster Perpetual Date "engine turned bezel" Ref 1501/15010/15210 who where 34mm models and out of production since 2006.
Yeah, someone pointed that out to me.
Which colour dial did you go for then? The bezel is very cool. I definitely prefer this kind to the fluted ones.

@@eshwarrao7358 I'm getting there slowly. I can actually move my toes now... I was getting a bit worried about that. I'm just waiting for all of the swelling to go down a bit more now, so I can actually put some weight on it and finally get back to work. I can't afford to stay off any longer than I already have. I should have been back in already.
doesn't the clasp have the easy link gives you a few more mm?
I think it's really nice. I like the look of the Air King, but the vintage ones at 34mm are just too small. This is a nice compromise. 36mm is a good size that keeps the vintage vibe, but still works in a modern context. This is a really nice watch. I put it in my Aliexpress basket and might pull the trigger on it.

@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR I'm pretty conservative in my watch dial colors. I've added both the blue and black dials. It's 51/49 between the two, with the blue being the favorite??
@@MichaelG1986 You can't really go wrong with either.
I much prefer this bezel style over the fluted one, and good to see the tops of the lugs brushed. It is is a mishmash of various Oyster models, the case and dial are also done well. As you say that clasp is disappointing and I wish it didn't have a cyclops. It is good they used to pt5000 to keep the height down, an nh35 would have ruined it.

This is actually an homage of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King - Ref. 15210. I thought it was more of a mixture of a few as well, until someone pointed this model out to me.
@HonestWatchReviewsHWR Interesting, they did a Turnograph model as well where a bezel this style could be rotated for timing, but I think that was back in the 50s.

Absolutely agree. Just use a logo. Forget the brand and model names. Oh.... and maybe swap to a logo that doesn't look like my cat walking away from me. They make fantastic watches but the dials are too busy and crowded with unnecessary text and branding. On the subject of an Air King.... I'd love to see an homage to the more modern version with the green highlights and the additional numerals.
@@astrobusa It's just odd listing all of the specs on the dial, isn't it? You don't get that with phones or cars or anything else that I can think of.

I love the dial and bezel but I wish it was 38.5mm and they dropped the brand name from the dial. Less text on the dial!

Hold on - 36mm (not 39mm), different dial (no numerals and a sunburst effect, vs numerals and black dial), different hands (not mercedes hands), a date, and a cyclops? So there's absolutely nothing similar to an Air King? WTAF?

@@gregtolley3455 Yes, you're correct, it didn't have a date or cyclops. That was taken from another model I think. With homages they sometimes mix and match things a bit.
Ref 15210 has a cyclops.
