What my family does is we make a bunch of brown bag lunch and hand them out to homeless people and they absolutely loved it cuz they get a sandwich a vegetable or fruit and a dessert and at the same time I'm teaching my kids to give to others

Excellent idea.. here’s my “Funny” story... I had a huge thing of cookies for a party that ended up getting canceled. I decided to bring it to a spot where a lot of homeless people in our town tend to be, the train station. As I was passing them out a train came into the station and this super cute conductor got off. We struck up a convo and 6 years later here we are :). So had I never done this I would have never met the love of my life!

Jordan Page, FunCheapOrFree . U can make garlic bread with leftover 🍞. But not sure about these sandwiches, since it's wet already from the cheese and meat. Also, this is a great tip (and a must to do), take a brush , and brush ur oil and spice onto the bread instead of dunking the bread into the mixed oil and spices... Trust me on this one

    • @Romans828girl
      @Romans828girl 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Yes! I'm a Texan, and my mom's Frito Pie was one of our favorite meals. A layer of Fritos in a casserole dish, a layer of chili, top with shredded cheese, bake till bubbly. We were picky kids, so she left the onions out. We sold it at the concession stand at ball games, just like Jordan makes it - open a small bag of Fritos, put in a scoop of chili and some cheese, stick a spoon in it and go. Such nostalgia and homesickness! Oooh, the feels!

I scramble some eggs and make egg "ribbons," then stir-fry vegetables (in sesame oil if I have it) and cut-up meat like ham or frankfurters, add the rice, soy sauce, some sriracha, mix everything until it is warmed through and then top with the egg. Or fry and egg and put it on top. And top with toasted sesame seeds.

I uses to take food to my coworkers. If I see there is a lot of leftovers I have the guests take a plate home of cake as well. If I still have leftovers I take plates to my neighbors. As far as soda just like Jordan said to add when baking a cake do the same with pancakes. Dark soda just a sprinkle. If it is Sprite maybe a cup for fluffy pancakes along with the rest of ingredients of course.

I would make soup with the veggies. Just boil with water and seasoning add in dried beans, lentils or rice whatever I have in the pantry. Freeze if needed after. I would deconstruct the sandwiches and give the meat and cheese to my son with crackers for a lunchable for school then make bread pudding with the bread by tearing into pieces adding milk eggs and vanilla and baking. I have a great potato chip cookie recipe for leftover plain potato chips too. Yum!

Best cakepops ever. Tried them with leftover lemon spongecake without any frosting. Substituted with cream cheese, whiped cream, powdered sugar, rolled them in coconut flakes and froze them. Great treat!

Left over soda...think floats. Sprite with sherbet, coke with vanilla, amazing.

Sprite with sherbet is genius! I've never heard of that but it sounds amazing. We had flick and float nights when I was a kid but we always had rootbeer/orange/cream soda with vanilla ice cream. I'm totally adding in Sprite with sherbet to that tradition.

A party punch here has sherbet(I see rainbow used the most), sprite, and Hawaiian punch(usually the red one. Used to be in a can).

I also use it, especially flat soda, to add to the vase of water for cut flowers. I swear that this or some sugar in the water keeps them fresh longer.

Also.. sandwich size portions of meats/cheeses frozen separately in sandwich/snack size bags works perfectly. They take little room & thaw quickly. Even if u forget at night by the time the oatmeal or eggs are done your meats/cheeses are ready. Make your own antipasto salad.
You could dice 'em and toss in skillet still frozen for scrambles/ omelets/frittatas/mac+ch (ham esp)/and add some of the veggies too. My sis-inlaw made a "hogie dip" or spread.
Make some grilled cheese+meat or melts
Monte Cristo/ Croque Madame....sorry for the never ending comment but the options are endless ~
    Been reinventing "re-runs"
as we call it more than 30 years lol
I just found your channel and
I love how your brain works.
I get nostalgic for that magical time as stay at home mom...with ever evolving tech and ability to watch someone half a world away make vegan "crabcakes" or vegan shepherd's pie I'm fascinated by the things you young moms come up with and sometimes I laugh remembering when I did it.😊
