- Elliot is brought to the same room Angela was in all those months ago. Whiterose enters. She’s ready for this moment, whatever it may bring. There’s nothing left to lose.
From Mr Robot Season 4 Episode 11 "eXit" Whiterose's men kill the FBI agents sent for Zhang, as she proclaims there is only Whiterose now. Elliot finds the Washington Township nuclear plant seemingly deserted. He activates his hack to destroy Whiterose's machine, but is found by Dark Army agents, who lead him past the slaughtered employees to Whiterose. They argue about the nature of people, hatred, and the world. Whiterose claims her machine will create a better world. Elliot says those who love him, even when he hates himself, make the world worth saving. Whiterose has already activated the machine, triggering a meltdown. She says Elliot has a choice and kills herself. Elliot plays an adventure game Whiterose left for him on an old computer, thinking he can stop the meltdown, but seems to be too late. He and Mr. Robot express their love for each other as everything turns red. In an alternate world, Elliot is upbeat and happy, CEO of AllSafe, engaged to Angela, and an only child, one with a loving relationship with his still-living father. Zhi Zhang is a beloved, wealthy woman known for her philanthropy. Elliot lands a major account with F Corp after saying he'll always stand with Tyrell, who is F Corp’s CEO. Elliot returns home, surprised to see Elliot in a hoodie, whom he doesn’t recognize, sitting at his computer.

Amazing scene that sums up the turmoils of the whole show and recaps some of the major themes running throughout. "WHITE ROSE" in all white. Says she LOVES society, and wants to SAVE it by killing them all and bringing them into a new world. "MASTERMIND" Elliot in all black. Says he HATES society, but he never gives up on them and somehow always finds a reason to keep his faith regardless of his shitty circumstances. The somewhat fucked up yin and yang of the show that makes you question different ideologies!

Uh no. This is ego and entitlement, and what leads to wars, famine, hunger etc. We shouldn’t be allowed to live just because we’re human - it should be earned. Mr Robot lost this one.

Our nature is to be resilient to hardship, to adjust to the circumstances & environment's around us. We are designed to survive & suffering build's character--it's the one positive thing we're rewarded for enduring it.
Mr. Robot wasn't making a point to "be young & stupid" it was making a point that we are flawed creatures, no one is perfect & we all make mistakes, whether intentional or not we've all contributed to some one else's bad luck, to someone else's reckless decision or their own mistakes.
We learn from it because that is the human condition.

Best character arc in any media.

Guy hates society because it's messed up, but not to the point of thinking humanity needs to be destroyed. He somehow has a little hope that our species is still learning and can be better in the near future.

Don’t be fooled. Eliot is a psychopath too. Dark Empath is a cute way to dress up a personality disorder. It doesn’t exist in psychology. Psychopathy, Narcissism and machevellianism do. Dark Empaths are Borderlines with a cute title to cope

I always cry with Elliot's monologue. It's really beatiful
That siren and the ambience were mixed in post-production just perfectly- this includes how the escalating score ramps down, loops to it's start and then cuts abruptly at the gunshot, but the siren persists just a second or two after, followed immediately by the truck blaring.
Audio combinations in pristine symmetry to invoke a manic, stressful atmosphere is an underappreciated creative design mechanism in the visual arts.
I cried when I first watched this scene, Elliot’s come such a long way.
I never realized that Whiterose is wearing her mother's wedding dress from the flashback
Dialogue between Elliot and Mr Robot is my favorite scene(it comes after dialogue with Whiterose) where Elliot accepts who he truly is.
For me, the whole show is about the miseries in trying to save the world and realising it's an unfeasible desire. We have different ways we believe will save the world but no matter what, evil continues to exist. It's finding peace in the self, in what one has, in family, in love. That was Elliot's escape in the end. Whiterose couldn't escape for she had nothing of the sort and believed she never would.

This reminds me of Neo and The Architect's colloquy in The Matrix- which where an Anomaly is finally able to converse with a Higher Being and reason together on the dilemma of choice.

Although the whole machine McGuffin was a big letdown at the time, looking back on it and realising White Rose was actually crazy makes everything somehow more poignant.
I never believed it was going down the sci-fi route 😁but I do think Whiterose believed it . I thought the ending was perfect

the machine represents people's toxic desire to change/erase their past instead of moving on. whiterose and angela were susceptible due to their losses and elliot almost fell for it too.
Mr robot season 4 was such a masterpiece, definitely one of the best seasons of television I have ever watched
I love whiterose as a character. Definitely a villain, but 100% acceptive of who she is and how the world "works". Sees herself as the underdog rebel doing bad for good the same as fsociety. I don't know if it's intentional but given her money and power you'd think she'd have undergone surgery/treatment to transition to be physically male. Instead she has her original male body and presents a female persona through her clothes, makeup, and persona. She doesn't try to alter her physical self but the way others perceive and treat her.
I think it's probably a little intentional given that she held a very public position as an ambassador.
She knows what she really want couldn’t be achieved in this world.

I wonder if the implication is that the device really works. She said she'd show Elliot exactly what she showed Angela, and then proceeded to shoot herself. She also mentions that she's been able to do tests with close proximity. Has she used the device to bring herself back, or am I just seeing ties that don't exist?
It's a question without an answer. It's aimed to be ambiguous because I believe it represents the undying hope that we have to get a do-over. Very few people can honestly say that they wouldn't go back and change SOMETHING from when they were younger. Even though we know that it's absolutely impossible, ridiculous to even consider, we still dream and think about it.
We're supposed to wonder if the machine would have worked or not. Because even though we know that it obviously, blatantly did not, we can't help but wish that it did.
I believe she showed it working to Angela with the fish that died and she intended to show it with herself to Elliot. It is arguable if the machine really worked with the fish or if the scientist under pressure from white rose's group found a way to fake the machine working (replacing the fish, etc...).
With Angela, the gun jammed. With Elliot, the gun also jammed. Every time Whiterose pulls the trigger the gun jams.

Imagine watching this scene without having a single clue what the show is about.
This show is an unforgettable piece of art. I'm really grateful for it, it kinda got me into my profession and helped me grow as a person... "alongside" Elliot Alderson. I think I used to share more of Whiterose's points than Elliot's - not anymore, though.
One of the best scenes in TV history
Daft Punk's "Arena" from the TRON: Legacy soundtrack playing in the background for a bit before Whiterose shoots herself. The last time that track played, it was when Angela and Elliot were on the subway before Angela was abducted and brought to the room by Whiterose's people.
Master Mind needed this conversation to realize later he has to let himself go away to let Elliot come back to the person who loved him, Darlene.
WhiteRose character is awesome 👌. Mr Zhang can do it perfectly 😎 he changes emotional statues very well. ❤

As someone who stayed with the girl I loved through years of cheating,lying,abusing and mentally destroying me.
I still knew deep down she still LOVED me and at that then I couldn’t feel that for myself. So I stayed.
I love myself now. And I left.
I will admit, Elliot reveals what a human is taught to feel. Entitlement is our downfall when it shouldn't. Sad 😔 that we need to feel loved to feel significant. Everything is backwards, because society has taught us that self-love is selfish. But when you think about it, how can you give back to someone, something we don't have.
Well because it is. God commands us to love thy neighbor as we love him.
Love your neighbor as YOURSELF is what he actually says. He commands us to Love God by obeying his commandments. In order to love God one must also love yourself ( another commandment of God, not just the ten on the tablets there were actually hundreds. Thus it is true that one must love oneself in order to actually love others. That's my biggest problem unfortunately. I Never quite figured that part out. My Hope still endures the idea of loving myself one day.

Also this got me thinking again, when she says "Im going to show you what I showed Angela" It kind of implies that she shot herself in front of Angela and was then reborn with her machine. I think this is literally what she showed Angela to make her such a strong believer. If you notice after that meeting with White Rose, Angela was never the same. Its also why she was not afraid of dying, when she tells Price to leave her. So this White Rose we see is from another timeline. But Elliots malware this time caused the machine to not work. Elliot tells White Rose 9:30 "No you dont understand..." but White Rose cuts him off. She thought the machine had already bypassed Elliots malware!!
mmm no. The malware didn't work. That's why Elliot had to make a decision, a sacrifice that fortunately went wrong and he lived. This was Whiterose's plan, to force Elliot to choose, therefore allowing humanity to choose it's fate

Still don't know how anyone justifies white rose actions. So u lost a person who u loved the most. Then u just went crazy. What else happened. We need more backstop a proper villain backstory
I think it is a proper backstory. China's Minister of State Security watches her lover kill himself and then becomes obsessed with finding a way to an alternate reality so they can be reunited in a world that accepts them for who they are. It's short, simple, and plausible, plus as a high-ranking government official, White Rose would've had both funding and manpower for her project. The things I'm curious about are 1: How did White Rose find the method her machine used to travel between these realities, 2: What or who convinced her it was possible in the first place, and 3: If it did work, and that's why the entire Dark Army followed her without question, even up to their deaths, why not just turn on the machine for a couple minutes, pull her lover from another reality and just keep him here? It wouldn't solve the problem of the world being a shitty place, but it at least would've prevented countless deaths.
