It's not for kids but also not 18+. Probably 14+ makes more sense as someone mentioned. One of The main plots is just about Rory and her mom going from a man to another (Lorelai slept with her ex 1 day after breaking up with luke? lol. and rory Slept with dean while he was married?). So yeah not the best stuff to glamorise for kids but 18 is exaggerated.

Tristan was also going to be a love interest but the actor got the lead role in one tree hill so he left the show... Lorelai has around 4 main love interests one being luke, the other Rory's father, and the rest are too many spoilers.. you'll find the 3rd one soon enough.. this show has alott of drama but overall its v warm and v close to my heart.. even with the eventual downfall (as a lot of people here on yt and mostly everywhere like it call it) of Rory but honestly I find it v realistic in that way.. i have a whole description as to why but ill let you watch the show first 😅

I honestly associate this to being popular with millennials. In 2006 I was in my late teens. I constantly re watch for a sense of nostalgia. Having grown up with a single mom who also had me at 16 I related to them and their bond as mother/daughter. We kinda grew up together and i still refer to my mother as having been my best friend in existence

I don’t think younger crowd understands how little quality content there was back in 2000. Despite its flaws this show was better than 99% of the shows available at the time.

I think a lot of the obsession with Gilmore Girls obviously came from mostly white people (and I am white and from Connecticut. I grew up in Trumbull, Connecticut, and some of my family's situation did depend on my grandparents, but it wasn't as intense as Rory and the money is gone, although the situation helped my parents get settled later and now we live in a similar nearby town) and I do think that's why so many people of color or BIPOC people don't have the same love for the show as so many of us. Even among white people, who may have watched the show when it was on, racist (which may even be unintentional, but a part of the lack or sad representation people of color or BIPOC people get) or elitest things that are now criticized in the show were just so apart of white culture. They still are and in that time we weren't aware of how others may or do see it or some people only saw anger from people who called it out and rolled their eyes because there were things in other cultures or groups we saw as worse or bad and not called out or some people (both white or in those cultures) would say the bad things were not really a part of the culture but that was obviously not true. I went through this, I still go through this, but I think a really hard reality is that all of us have to admit to bad things in our cultures or groups, even when someone is a target already, and we have to remember the history and present of white people (I'm guessing this is not just in America.) being able to hurt others and usually getting away with the most, while in some super liberal circles they'll act like someone who is from a marginalized group can do no wrong even when they are clearly doing wrong to someone else. However, some of the elitest things are so true to probably every culture, but the way I saw the white characters be elitest or even racist was something so ingrained in the lives of white people I saw in real life, so it felt like admitting to things. That may even have been the intention, which I think other white people and I should think about, like we should hear people of color or BIPOC people out because we have to admit to things, be honest, but not outright hurt or dismiss you. That's actually what brought me hear. I hear so many white people talk about the show, so, and I also just found this interesting, I wanted to hear you and other people of color or BIPOC people out too.
