I always think of these artists as faceless mysteries, so it's really cool to see what they look like and what kind of people they are. As some in the video stated, I'm here for Macroblank. And the 行方不明 album is the first one I heard. I'll be honest, the cover art was a definite draw for me. I showed one of my friends, and she said "Yep. You bet your ass if I see cover art like that, I'm going to listen to the music."
What an awesome interview. I wouldnt have expected Macroblank to be a Romanian guy at all. I really liked the underground feeling of the whole thing. Great video!
Holy hell this is an awesome on-the-ground document of this show and really interesting interrogations of what is Vaporwave, Barber Beats and the limits of internet music genres. Thanks so much for making this and getting it all into a longform video- that's not easy to do and im sure this took quite some time to produce! I'll definitely be mentioning it on my next podcast episode! Hearing OSCOB speak so passionately about vaporwave really brought me back to the old OSCAST podcast episodes- I'm so glad I came around early enough to listen to those and inform my tastes by checking out the recommendations and artists he was interviewing. While he's always had some controversial takes, I applaud him for sticking with the creative ideas behind the genre and how he helped push the boundaries of the genre with Bedlam Tapes back in the mid 2010s!
if only you could.. he deleted all them off the internet and they were not archived anywhere, sorry@@bymatsby however if you do find them, I'd be interested as well because they have are an interesting document of vaporwave in the mid 2010s by the people making it and pushing the culture forward. I've only been able to find a couple episodes on Soulseek but I massively regret not downloading them when they were on bandcamp back in the day...
Thank you for this documentary and thank you for the English subtitles. I wish I could have been at that extraordinary event. Barber Beats is my favourite music.
I literally love Macroblank's version! Thanks for the find:) It's track 3 on his release with the artwork of all the blue guys with the red hair called 分離された
Thankyou so much! It'd be great do interviews with more vaporwave artists. I did go down to Barber Night Delight 2 a few months ago in london to enjoy the music, but I didn't shoot anything that time. Was great to see the old faces again though. Maybe I'll do some more in the future, but I don't know for sure.
Thanks so much for making this vid! I was there, it was the event of the year for me. The biggest shock for me was Macro being so young. Judging by the music I expected someone well in thier 40s hahaha. It's insane that such a young dude can master so much of time and culture, musically and visually. The venue was a fantastic, I've never been to such a vaporwave looking club with a cat and fish tank 🤣And I originally traveled to London only to see Macro but then I totally fell in love with the UK again, you got so much good stuff going on! Seriously, the rest of Europe feels like a cultural desert now. If any of you guys offer a couch I'm moving 😜
matsby\ thanks you very much for this interview, i finally know how macroblack looks like, i was wondering how he is since 2021, i had the doubt about he being japanensse too.
Would love if all you guys would come down to Australia and do something similar, there's a great music scene in Melbourne that are happy to always have international internet stuff come around
so grateful this exists, fantastic work sir. so dope to hear from the artists themselves and get a glimpse behind the craft. intermission with the bartender was the perfect addition as well.
Great job diving into this weird cultural phenomenon I've been obsessed with for years. It's wild seeing actual people out there being as passionate about this music as I.
Hot topic: Am I the only one who has noticed the homoeroticism in the graphic art of vaporwave, or am I the only one who talks about it because it is a subject that is meant to be overlooked?
I would have loved to have been at that show. I'm glad this video was made though. At least I get to witness some of it and finally get to see some of these artists
Great job mate! This might just help me for my graduate thesis about vaporwave I was getting ready for bed when ROMBREAKER broke the news about the documentary you made, so I just sneak peaked a bit for first 15 minutes, can't wait to watch the whole thing
thankyou, intrigued you're writing a thesis on it! you'll enjoy Thom and Enzo's interviews a lot, I think then. especially cause Thom was doing a masters in Musicology at uni when he got into vaporwave
God, absolutely loved this! So many good memories came from it. Super pumped for the next Barber Night and to see everyone again.
Thanks Rombreaker! Was a great night man. thanks again for your interview

Come to Andalucía (south Spain)... this music is loved in Granada
Thankyou, it'd be awesome to document another Vaporwave scene out in those places
What an awesome interview. I wouldnt have expected Macroblank to be a Romanian guy at all. I really liked the underground feeling of the whole thing. Great video!

She was hilarious

So i wont be sleeping tonight as well... Absolute banger of a documentary.
someone’s definitely spiked thoms drink 💀 mans making me anxious
Maybe he was worried about vaporwave scene internet beef coming for him irl
I remember seeing you at the venue and wondering what you were filming for. Love this!
As an upcoming barber beat artist. I love this project! Thanks!
I think it is quite insane that we get to finally see who is behing Macroblank! Luv his music
I hope we can eventually get all the 2020-2022 BB artists represented in an interview format.
Big ups to the BB crew!
Might just have to make my way out to L.A. to catch the next one.
Outstanding work by everyone involved, thanks for capturing this.
Crazy how no one mentions macintosh plus

What do you mean by that? The Renaissance statues?
