I left Gungeon to watch this episode of Gungeon Yo so real talk today i decided to play Super Punch Out to check out where the inspiration for the rat fight came from and it's friggin hard
My dude, lemme tell you. I spent enough quarters in the Punch Out arcade machine as a child to put my own children through college. That game is brutal and brilliant.
You inspired me to buy this game! Turns out, you're actually good at this game, compared to my disastrous gameplay. Also, this is almost as fun to play as it is to watch you play... almost ;)
Don't worry I'm terrible too! Doesn't help I don't want to play my PC version since it wiped my progress and play on the switch only now. Which is daunting in handheld after like 20 minutes laying down. Eggs speed to you and enjoy the game fellow gamer.
NL, it's always better to save the orange when you have more than a heart of health instead of using it immediately. On the gunslinger run, if you had waited until you were at low HP on the lich fight to use the orange you would have doubled your odds of winning, because you would have effectively doubled the heart value of your 8 heart containers plus the additional heart container, as opposed to getting the value of just one additional heart container by using it as soon as you get it.
Man, I read your comment before watching the video, and I though "Why is this guy bringing up the last paradox run again?" Then I watched him eat the orange :(
I think the wasted heal may be offset by the immediate gain of 2 coolness points that the orange gives when used. He ended up not needing the heal in the end so I would say that he made the right choice.
@@Index154 Debatable, the orange is a full heal. If you're fighting the litch or something it's invaluable if you start dropping health. It's won me the game a few times.
Some thoughts (spoilers ahead): > More Paradox! > The last Paradox/Gunslinger run was pretty good. I believe that NL could have survived it has he prepared appropriately, if he knew that the Gunslinger's past was just a regular Bullet Hell floor, with his items intact. > Hey, NL: Way back when in Gungeon's history, there was a time when you could use Blasphemy to look for secret rooms. Those things have since been patched. If your gun has infinite ammo, you cannot find a secret room with it! > Hey, NL: I know you even asked yourself "why did I stand so close to him" after you took immediate damage against Gatling Gull, but seriously, why did you stand so close to him?! > The Rat fight can reward you with a *ton* of advantages in a run, but you need to a) survive, b) get as many keys from the Rat as possible, and c) punch out as many items from the Rat as possible. This basically boils down to, you should look up how to get keys from the Rat and keep practicing it when you can. > Orange! "Obviously we should use it as a full heal... but, we could also just use it right away." NL! At the very least save it in case you find the vampire who buys your HP, or in case you take damage, or find a better active item. Speaking of which, *you have Utility Belt*! You can hold *two* active items! You never bothered to look at what your starting item was as the Paradox! If you die one hit away from winning the run I swear to god I swear to god I'll still keep watching but will momentarily furrow my brow! > Monster Blood. Yet another heart container to benefit from a full heal later in the run. smh > NL completely correct about the Turtles about to die on the boss. The thing about the Turtles is they do a ton of contact damage, so they benefit from a quick and maneuverable playstyle, running around the enemies. > So NL complained about the missiles from Beholster taking two shots to kill when using the Winchester. The thing is, they normally take two shots to kill! A weapon with piercing (like the Blasphemy) makes it more likely to kill them in a single shot, and shotguns make short work of the missiles. But a sniper rifle-like weapon is poor to use against them. > If the Dragun is Mom, then does that make the Lich Dad? > Table Tech Rocket? More like Table Tech Trash-it! > It took me until NL said "spacebar item" to realize that Large Boy was Big Boy. Is Dan's wearing off on Egg? > Winchester Rifle (brown) + Trick Gun (blue) munched into Tear Jerker (blue). Quality wise, the trade was acceptable, but the actual resulting gun from the transaction makes me want to Q_Q. > I actually love NL theorizing about what to use against floor bosses on chamber four. It proves he's starting to think ahead more, and is getting more comfortable with Gungeon! Big Boy is great against Kill Pillars since you damage four of them at the same time and you destroy their bullets without breaking them out of their attack patterns. And Quad Laser is great against the Wall because you're never going to miss your shot. > Hey, NL: Tear Jerker can put out wicks. It shoots tears. > SAA is worth keeping, when bouncing shots it does great damage and "kind of" homes in. I find it amusing that NL is happy with the Magnum when the SAA is comparable. For NL's playstyle, the RPG would have been worth munching instead, had he waited before gun munching. Also, if you're going to munch, if the gun is decent at least use the ammo in it first! Let this be a lesson to everyone! > Forge is a little late to be using the Sawed Off Shotgun. Even the Witch Pistol is probably better, but the SAA, Pulse Cannon, are both decent room clearers. Experiment! > Rocket Powered Bullets is another damage upgrade, and would make Quad Laser better because the projectiles would travel faster. Worth considering! > Speaking of damage, the stacking damage of +1 Bullets (25%) and the earlier shrine (25%) is making Pulse Cannon tear through enemies in Bullet Hell! > Well, at least NL didn't die with one hit remaining on the Lich! > See everyone in part 2 tomorrow!
Don't stress it NL. It's pretty much always infuriating to listen to you for two floors, but that's like just the contract I signed when I got into the video.
It's not that Melee weapons can't open secret rooms, it's that STARTING weapons can't. I'm pretty sure Casey can, but Blasphemy can't cuz it's the Bullet's starting weapon. I could be wrong, might just be any weapon with infinite ammo can't reveal secret rooms.
I just notice that the name of the Oubliette Floor is actually Blobulord. The hole time I was just thinking that NL was just calling it like this because it is a Blob and he keeps giving Lord to the names. i.e. Bonelord from Isaac

NL, from one Gungeoneer to an aspiring one. The Magnum is a very powerful weapons. Watching you waste an entire mag on every target is painful. Please use the Magnum more like the megahand. It will serve you well

You know, you can just give stuff to the sell creep you don't want to get money without going to the extra level on the fourth floor. Gives you extra money for the blacksmith in floor 5.

Duuuuude cactus is fucking god tier on the gunslinger. I remember using it to clear out all the bosses and clearing bullet hell.And the moment you see lil bomber, especially early on a run you swurve your curve to get that shit. It's wombo combo of synergies give you money for days. You could probably have your own scrooge mcduck casing bin by the end of a lil bomber gunslinger run. I think it grants money for every bomb that physically touches an enemy.
@@BigKillaJoke I think it gives more when it hits an enemy but even if it doesn't hit anything casings still drop. Black hole gun is also an instant win every time it shows up. and then some things you would assume to be great are very disappointing, lower case r and mega hand for instance..
@@TheShut1 It unlocks all the alternate firing modes but they are pretty bad by themselves, the gunslinger is overpowered because of synergy juxtaposition. You have the cactus, you fire like... 3 shots, room is clear. Black hole gun, you fire once, all bullets are neutralized, every enemy take loads of damage. Megahand; yeah you can fire bubbles i guess....
@@pmangano Its because those synergies are homage to original game, rather than something thats improving the gun. If you could shoot all modes at once it would probably crash the game anyway. Still good as room clearer.
He probably did it for the heart + coolness. It probably would have been more effective to save it for later but he did eventually buy big boi so he probably would have used it prematurely anyway. Atleast he got the coolness from it.

Rocket bullets are damage and speed up NL! It would've made quad laser better too
The damage up is very low (10%). It's definitely worth getting but not really noticeable
