I really the Canucks current uniforms as well, my only complaint is the “Vancouver” over the Orca.

The Canucks home jersey is especially gorgeous.
The blue and green are great. However, the constipated and corporate orca has to go. Time to make the original Stick In Rink C and skating Johnny Canuck the co-primary identities - one as the main crest and the other is the shoulder patch.
Team is called "Canucks", not "Orcas" nor "Haidas".
I met a guy who used to work on the design team for the Canucks, he said that everyone in his department hated the Orca logo due to it being essentially forced onto the jersey by ownership (Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment). I can see why a lot of people in that case don't like it. I for one am kind of ambivalent to it, but for the reason that it's mostly a corporate logo, I'm mostly turned off. I love Salish design however, and so if the team were to debut a new logo/uniform, I'd love to see even more of that put into it.

You should do this for all the teams. I know they aren't as interesting as Vancouver but it's a thought.
Andrew Bowman there's a few that changed their jerseys dramatically but I think the Canucks take the cake. The Ducks had a dramatic change the last few years, Buffalo had some drastic changes as well and I am so happy they ended up going back to the classic look.
Then there's teams that just kept it together. Even by changing the logo they kept their identity. Ottawa, Florida, Pittsburgh changed their logo but kept the colours. I know that Black and Gold is what most pro teams in Pitt wear. Ottawa has worn Red , white and Black for the most part in their pro teams and that's why their classic jersey to me should be their regular jerseys.
The wears thing is when teams move and keep their branding. The North Stars turned into the Dallas Stars kept the logo for the most part and the colour. The Flames turned the A for Atlanta to a C for Calgary but all and all it's the same everything else.

Love the blue n green orca, brought in when the Sedins were growing up. Pretty much watched nucks in blue and green my whole life, can’t imagine them in any other colours.

I think part of the trouble with Vancouver’s branding is that the colours and designs aren’t timeless. I think the black yellow and red only really work in the 80s and 90s and the same could probably be said about dark blue/red only working for early 2000s.. I think the current jersey looks good but I wouldn’t be surprised if it looks dated in 15 years... in my opinion the stick and rink is the closest a Canucks jersey has gotten to a timeless design, but it is kind of plain.

My favourite is probably the early-mid 90's jerseys; because of the finals and seeing it on players like Bure, Kirk McLean, Trevor Linden etc. It also tied well together with the "addiction" of hockey card collecting I had as a youngster in the mid-90's.

By my count, Canucks wore 5 different jerseys in 03-04. Regular home and away, the third jersey with red sleeves and both the blue and white stick in rink vintage. They went to New York and wore the white vintage while NYR wore their blue jerseys with full logo from the 70s. It was a great look on TV

Yes, it is interesting how many different Canucks jerseys have been used over the years. My favorite is the original from 1970 with the blue, green and white color scheme. It would be cool to see what this jersey would look like if it had a more stylized looking "hockey stick" logo.
I was always curious why the identity issue with Vancouver was.. very informative.

Has Seattle decided on their colour scheme? I can see them wanting the blue, green, and white to match their other pro franchises and, as a result, I can see this being a great start to the rivalry.

My favourite Canucks jerseys. For starters, any one that doesn't have an orca.
My favourites:
1. White original Stick In Rink - '70-'72. The crest is elegant, simple and timeless. Just like the Canadiens' CH. White V's on arms is a great touch.
2. Blue SIR - '72-'78. Don't like inverted logo but the white separating the green and blue shows the beautiful contrast.
3. Black Skate - with orange and gold - '89-'82 & with red and yellow - '93-'97. Bold colours that complemented each other.
4. Home yellows/golds - Flying V - '78-'85 and Skate - '85-'89. The Flying V's and having orange instead of red ruins what could have been a great and distinctive look. More winning besides the '82 Cup run would have helped too.
I honestly love every single one of these jerseys!

I've never liked any of Vancouver's jerseys or their logos so maybe they should have the Hockey Guy as their logo,Shannon wearing a baseball cap with a V on it smiling at us all,now that would be one sharp logo and a jersey that I'd buy for sure! Bob.

Finally someone who has the exact same view as myself. The new jerseys are almost perfect. I also love the skate, stick in rink and the V, but ONLY for nostalgic reasons. I will never really learn to love the orca but at least I can accept it now without the text. And honostly, it kind of grows on me more and more. The colors on the current jerseys is the best looking they ever had and I get people who wants a new version of the old logos in blue/green. That would look cool.... On an ALTERNATE... And being Swedish i totally get what you mean with Johnny Canuck. The first time I ever heared of him I went straight to Google, cause I had no idea who he was... ;P
The only thing I dont agree with is about the stick in rink. The "modern" version is a HUGE improvement. Saying it is´nt is like saying that the new jerseys without the text looks the same... It just looks way cleaner....

If I'm forced to pick a jersey without Johnny Canuck on the front, I'm going with the stick in rink on the front with the V and Johnny Canuck on the shoulders. I'd like to see a jersey that incorporates every jersey they've ever had within reason, though, too. I'd give up Johnny Canuck for that one.

Modern stick-in-rink is a slight upgrade to old stick-in-rink, similar to how orca breaking through ice is a slight upgrade to the same through water. In both cases, I think the new, minute modification is vastly superior to the old and I'd add that they should tilt the stick a tad downward and give it a longer blade to make it take on the appearance of a V within the C: Vancouver Canucks.
That white skate Vancouver jersey looks well loved. I think for that reason alone that one is my favorite. Maybe we see more videos like this in the future?

The white 40th anniversary retro jersey is the nicest Canucks jersey ever. I agree, dont use Johnny Canuck as a primary crest, but I hope we never change from blue and green ever again.

I don’t mind the orca. I hate the orca with “Vancouver” right above it. I would start a petition to bring back either the V jersey or the skate jersey. I’ve always loved them cause they were so different

Our identity is that we don't have an identity haha. The only thing I don't like about the current jerseys is the "Vancouver" but it's grown on me. I don't wanna buy new ones so I hope they just keep it.

Johnny Canuck doesn't work...you're kidding right??? He's whom the Canucks are named after. The lumber industry has deep historic roots in BC and it built the City of Vancouver. Johnny C is a fearless and hardworking BC/Canadian lumberjack who's ready to go play some hockey after a hard day's work.

I hope the Swedish national jersey makes the top 100. It's a beautiful jersey. The world juniors USA jersey where sweet too with the Bills colours on them kind of made me think they only made them look like that because it was in Buffalo.
I'd call the '79 jersey more mustard-yellow.. than merry gold. But orange for sure! Their V I'm sure was a shock at the time.. but it's gotten some much deserved love of late! (collector's going wild!) I'm a fan of the original 6 too mind you. And most of the 80's decade colors were pretty amazing.. to be honest(before all the dark tones and weird colors came in the 90s)

I like our current ones, but also like stick in rink, but just leave them be! Im in the minority but I also like the VANCOUVER over the logo, makes the jersey more complete imo
the original stick/rink jersey is the best...it screams vancouver without any V’s ...my opinion as a Leaf’s fan

Surprised you didn't mention the Vancouver word mark was a tribute to the Western League Canucks jerseys that had Canucks as a similar word mark on the front.
I am not a Vancouver fan I always loved the Skate jersey. It screams 80s so much
I used to call them the Vancouver No-Cups when I was a kid because my dad did. Then they came out with the Johnny Canuck/Vachon logo, so I called them the Vancouver Cupcakes. After watching this video, I am gonna start referring to them as the Vancouver Skittles.

Sorry, anything with laces on the collar..... uhmm.. no. The simple round collar 40's kits were my favourite. The "leaf" actually looked like a leaf :)
I stand by the flying skate aka plate of spaghetti logo.i had the black road version of that growing up and literally wore it out.i'm getting that marigold version.all the canucks jerseys with the expect the flying v are bangers.

Any of the three blue-green designs look nice (stick, orca, Johnny). The rest are bad. I grew up with Vancouver being the orca C, so I’m used to it. Modern stick looks nice. I kind of agree RE Johnny. That should be your jerseys now. It’s a great design and is green-blue really such a change from blue-green?

How they went from their late 60s WHL jerseys, which are classics, to the stick in rink is beyond me. It's a classic today, but back then, what were they thinking? A new team and that's the best they can come up with? Thank God for the plate of spaghetti. Even the Flying V, for its faults, stood out. It was different. The stick in rink is yawn-inducing and everyone knows how I feel about the corporate Orca.

The killer whale/orca breaking the icy waters logo is quite possibly the best modern-day image in the NHL with the throwback "Stick in the Rink" shoulder patch. I agree, the city name "Vancouver" in capital letters, above the "C" insignia, is unnecessary for the Canucks, which is simply a western Canadian (beyond the province of Quebec and the Maritimes provinces). The flying skate (a.k.a.: spaghetti plate) logo with the red, yellow and black streamers was terrible---only the original Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes jersey was worse with its Pablo Picasso formatted coyote on skates throughout the NHL sweater history!
