Good stuff bro. I was watching some of your old videos. Joe Frost. I started in the 90s too. Amazing to play congas and percussion for decades isnt it?
    It keeps changing.

Hey Matt. Thank you so much. Appreciate you checking out my videos. Very cool that you've been hitting skins for 30 years, too! I live in Washington State, and, sadly, haven't been playing with anyone for years. What styles of drumming are you into?

Funny thing about it continuing to change... I'm currently diving deeper into Joe stuff than I ever did before, and, trust me, it's all old school. No changes; just the good old stuff. Of course, really, it's all old. I'm doing my best to recreate (with my own feel) what he was doing 20 to 30 years ago. My favorite conga drummer, ever. Mamady Keita was my favorite drummer.

@@scottnicolow that's cool., keep it going. Keep Joe's spirit alive.. I've explored many different drumming styles over the years and I prefer to study Afro Cuban in congas and bongos. And close second various African rhythms.
We have a small group of people who play. And some others who sit in time to time All of us playing for decades.
So we can get it going pretty good. Last week played by the river side Overlooking Philly.
      You would fit right in.

@@scottnicolow Also, I recommend Tomas Cruz's conga method book for you. Guarantee you would love it. One of my teachers helped write it. Orlando Fiol, great Cuban multinstramentalist.
Took lessons from him in Philadelphia off and on for 2 years. Unbelievable perfect Cuban technique, just like Tomas Cruz.

@@MaTTheWish I will check it out. To be honest, though, I've gleaned very little about playing drums from books over the years. Most everything I've got came from sitting with masters or listening and watching their videos. Thank God for slow motion feature on TH-cam. I can't tell you how many times I had to rewind a cassette tape from a Walkman recording to replay the same passage. Thank you, Matt.
