ערב יום הזיכרון לחללי צה"ל ונפגעי פעולות האיבה בשנתה ה- 76 של מדינת ישראל, היה שונה בתכלית מכל מה שחווינו בכל שנותיה של המדינה. האירועים הטראומטיים מאז השבת השחורה של ה-7 באוקטובר, בהם דור שלם של צעירים וצעירות גיבורים שלמו בחייהם, בנפשם ובגופם. מאורעות בלתי נתפשים עם מאות הרוגים ונרצחים: חיילות וחיילים, תינוקות, ילדים, מבוגרים, מאות חטופים, מאות משפחות שכולות, עשרות אלפי פצועים, עשרות אלפי פגועי נפש, עשרות אלפים ללא בית, עשרות אלפי משפחות שחייהם השתנו לעד. ואין אחת או אחד במדינה שלא חוו, אם במעגלים הקרובים או הרחוקים יותר, את האסונות הרבים כל כך.

אתגר קרת - עכשיו עצום את העיניים

עכשיו, עצמו את העיניים ונסו להפסיק לכעוס. נסו להפסיק לזעום על כל אלו שכל כך ראויים לזעם הקדוש שבוער בכם.
עצמו את העיניים והרשו לעצמכם, לרגע קצר אחד, רק לכאוב. להסס. להתבלבל. להצטער. להתחרט. יהיו לכם עוד חיים שלמים לרדוף, לנקום, לבוא חשבון. אבל עכשיו, רק עצמו את העיניים, והסתכלו פנימה, כמו לוויין המרחף מעל אזור אסון, מחפש אחר סימני חיים.
עם כל מה שנלקח מכם, נותרתם בני אדם. פצועים, מדממים, כועסים, כואבים, מבוהלים, טובעים בצער אבל, עדיין, בני אדם.
קחו נשימה עמוקה ונסו לזכור איך זה מרגיש. אתם הרי יודעים שבעוד רגע, כשתפקחו שוב את עיניכם, זה ייעלם.

The eve of this year's Memorial Day for Israel's Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism, in the 76th year of the State of Israel, was completely different from anything we have experienced in all the years of the state. The traumatic events of October 7th, where an entire generation of heroic young men and women gave everything-their lives, their souls, their bodies. The most horrific and unimaginable events with hundreds of dead and murdered: soldiers, infants, children, adults, hundreds of abducted, hundreds of bereaved families, tens of thousands of injured, tens of thousands of emotionally affected, tens of thousands homeless, tens of thousands of families whose lives have changed forever. There is not a single person in the country who has not experienced these numerous tragedies, whether in close or distant circles.
The reading that opened this year's Memorial Day eve ceremony in Kibbutz Ein Gedi, written by Etgar Keret, allowed the songs that followed to bring comfort and hope, and to ease, as much as possible, the pain and sorrow we all experience.

Now, close your eyes and try to stop being angry. Try to stop raging at all those who are so deserving of the righteous anger that burns within you.
Close your eyes and allow yourself, for one brief moment, just to feel the pain. To hesitate. To be confused. To feel regret. To repent. You will have a whole lifetime to pursue, to take revenge, to settle accounts. But now, just close your eyes, and look inward, like a satellite hovering over a disaster area, searching for signs of life.
With all that has been taken from you, you remain human. Wounded, bleeding, angry, hurting, frightened, drowning in sorrow, but still, human.
Take a deep breath and try to remember how that feels. You know that in just a moment, when you open your eyes again, it will vanish.
