- Hermeticism, often known as Hermetism, refers to a philosophical ideology based mainly on the reputed teachings of Hermes Trismegistus. It comprises the legendary Hellenistic combination of the Greek God Hermes and the Egyptian God Thoth.
These teachings can be found in the various texts assigned to Hermes (the Hermetica). These scripts were written over a longer period (c. 300 BCE - 1200 CE) and may differ materially in both content and depth.
One of the most prominent contexts of the term refers to a particular subsection of Hermetic texts regarded as the 'philosophical' Hermetica. The most noteworthy sub-group is the Corpus Hermeticum (an assemblage of seventeen Greek Hermetic treatises recorded between c. 100 and c. 300 CE).

I believe we are getting more ignorant with each passing generation which then brings in Hinduism and the idea of the Yugas. Somewhat poorly researched, it was pretty painfully obvious that the author is not familiar with the writings or history of the texts. When he said "hermeticism, often known as Hermeticism" I was already turned off by it. While there are some good points and references some of the materials, some of it is very off. Kyballion is not considered the be-all and end-all of Hermetic Philosophy, its barely regarded by practicing Hermeticists. Several historical mentions in the video are completely wrong or at least considered apocryphal to actual scholars. Also, Crowley was not a Hermetic Master, while his influence in modern occultism is popular, much of his actual work is not considered to even be Hermeticism as in 1904 he created Thelema. The images used in this often have nothing to do with Hermeticism and most of them are just bad. Author had no idea what Goetia or Theurgy is other than possibly what he heard about on the internet, and completely misunderstands "as above, so below". Satan is never mentioned in the Corpus Hermeticum.

@@cosmickate5603 I would recommend the more core texts of Hermeticism such as the Corpus Hermeticum and the Emerald Tablet of Hermes over the Kyballion, which is sort of a dubious take on the other two. Possible also The Way of Hermes: New Translations of The Corpus Hermeticum and The Definitions of Hermes Trismegistus to Asclepius by Clement Salaman, Dorine van Oyen as one of the better, modern takes on the subject.
@Raymond Bastien As mentioned in the other reply, I would have to say that the Corpus Hermeticum and The Emerald Tablet of Hermes are more the standard for the basis of Hermeticism, along with possibly the Way of Hermes as a modern take on the information.

Be careful with the book "Kybalion" its been released in the '90s and the author name is very suspicious "Three Initiates". If you want to learn true Hermetics start with Alchemy which is also called "Spagyric"

Most videos tell about the kabala, but don't actually give examples of show how to use the 7 principles in our regular lives.

If you want to read a book: “Initation into Hermetics by Franz Bardon” Just recently got intrigued by hermetics on accident, (but by now I offcourse already know that noting really is by accident 😎 ) but yeah I would really love to read that book too, for more practical examples. I appreciate the video. You got a few things wrong that commonly are. The seven principles are actually from the Kybalion. The Kybalion is actually a relatively new text and isn't truly Hermetic, though many consider it to be. Some of it is correct. Also, you refer to the Goetia from an orthodox Judeo-christian viewpoint by referring to the spirits as demons, but they're not technically demons. It comes from the Greek word Daimon and just means spirit. But there are two types. One is called an Agathodaimon which is a "noble spirit," but the Cacodaimon is malicious and can act like a demon.
