If you want to treat others the way you want them to treat you and you ask God to help you then you are repenting and God's Holy Spirit will help you. That's trusting in Christ.
When Jesus stated: do unto others what you would have them do to you - he meant this to be a Loving warning that as you sow so will you reap. It was also a guideline to behavior. If you do unto others what you would like done to yourself, then you can be sure that you are acting only from the standpoint of Love. If other people do not want what you would like done for you - then you live by trial and error; you have taken a positive step towards fulfilling an act of true Love and if it is rejected, you have given yourself an opportunity to find out what would be more greatly appreciated in the future. In this way do you grow in the act of Love.
I love this message so much! However, I am struggling to hear his take on it because the tonality of the teacher is somewhat scratchy and irritating. He has a 🎤 mic. Which makes voice sound loud enough. Maybe I would be better able to hear it if he wasn't in a big audience or auditorium where he feels he needs to yell. I would want someone to also tell this to me in love.
I know of a few "christians" and "pastors" who need to have this branded a few hundred times on their rump.
