Cool video dude! Im still using my 7black,its not great in high contrast but in sunny day there is little to no different ,especially when watching on smartphone. The stabilisation is as good as any other GoPro. Few things I'm missing is horizon lock and max lease mode. Cheers!
i am trying to justify a new camera but after this video i think my gopro 7 will do just fine.. i am recording my mtb rides from time to time mostly when i manage to get a friend to tag along or a group of friends. some ocassional vacation things etc and usually this mean summertime, good lightning etc so i will stick to my gopro 7 and get a vertical mount for some instagram stuff. I reckon there is no other way to get vertical shooting without flipping the 7 90 degrees right? I have also looked into the osmo action 4 since this one seems to just work and every go pro i have had always have these weird s**t happening to it. gopro might do good cameras but they do suck at doing proper software :/
The new GoPro has vertical shooting without turning the camera because the sensor is so wide. I’ve used it for social posts before. Not sure about shooting vertical on the 7. The 7 is an awesome camera though, I still have mine but I have hardly used it since I got the new one I agree with you on the software stuff!
Can you go trough the modes? I want to see how it looks like in Linear, and even the new mode I've not seen anyone show, or seen other GoPros have, L+, I assume that's Linear plus, more linear mode I guess. I saw it in a video, but only saw the setting in the menu. For me not having distortion, or limiting it as much as possible is important, cus I want to represent the trails I ride as realistically as possible. Most creators opt for wide or super wide, but that's horribly distorted, so want to know how it is in linear and L+ mode. So distortion tests would be seen, I've not seen it yet. If nobody does it I will have to buy it myself to see for my self. The footage distortion in this video is massive, it's a no-go for me. So I need to see Linear.
I really like it so far, for me it was worth it. I shoot all of my “Idaho Trailheads” videos on the 12 If you’re going professional I’d recommend it but if just casual then I think the 7 is still great!
I also recorded some video with 7 and 12, so it looks like 7 has better video quality (when both was 1080). And today gopro 12 also stucked when I pressed to stop the recording. So this stupid bug has not been solved too. In my opinion, gopro is an expensive shit :)
@mindaugasv85 I used to have a digi power pack for my 7. I could record hours nonstop. So naturally, I got it for the 12, and it didn't even charge one battery, but I have been loving the new features the 12 has compared to the old cameras.
My 7 is still good enough! Thanks for the comparison. For my usage, no need for an upgrade.

Unless you want to record in sub zero temps, Hero 7 can't do that, only the new batteries can. So need 9 or newer. Hero 7 can't even do -1c.
@@mtbboy1993 move to a warmer country but not to warm.. my GP7 overheats a lot in Thailand...battery sucks also...other than that it's good 🎉

@HunterElliott I do a lot of Urbexing with my gopro. I mean the horizon mode is quite nice the stipulization is slightly better I seen.
