Forget using floating foam or in tank basking platforms that waste space, complicate turtle tank setup or just are not adequate for healthy aquatic turtle basking.
The Turtle Basker 5000 (TB5000) is a sleek, super functional above tank basking platform that fits turtle tanks that are 18.5 inches wide (ask if your tank is close to this width). The topper is perfect for up to large aquatic turtles with a carapace length of up to 11 inches. The basker sits on top of standard glass aquariums (see sizing below) that let’s you fill up your aquarium completely. The basking area is easily accessible to your turtle via an oversized ramp with easy to grip, waterproof mat. A large viewing window allows you to see your turtle basking away. A rigid metal screen cover allows for installation of basking lamps and keeps your turtle(s) in the basking area and prevents escape.
This is the basker you have been searching for!
FIT:
The Turtle Basker 5000 is designed to be versatile and fit most standard aquariums that are 18.5 inches wide. The basker is 24 inches long and fits between most standard tank cross bracing. For example, the Turtle Basker 5000 fits on one side of an Aqueon 75 Gallon Aquarium (that is 18.5 inches wide) between the tank edge and the middle cross brace. The design is reversable meaning it can be installed on either side of your tank.
The basker is built for up to large size turtles (~11 inch carapace max)
- Basking platform is 13 inches long by 12 inches wide.
- Basking ramp is 8.75 inches long by 12 inches wide.
-Whole unit about 14 pounds.
-Walls are approx. 24.5 inches long x 10 inches high x 13 inches wide (not including mounting angles).
BASKING LIGHTS/LAMPS NOT INCLUDED.
Standard Tanks this topper will fit that must be 18.5 inches wide: (most) 65 Gallon, 75 Gallon, 90 Gallon, 125 Gallon, 150 Gallon. PLEASE MEASURE YOUR TANK TO MAKE SURE THIS WILL FIT BEFORE PURCHASING. Please ask if unsure.
MATERIALS:
The walls, viewing window and platform are made from high quality acrylic that is sleek, strong, shatter resistant, mold resistant, corrosion resistant and rot proof. Stainless steel connectors are used to attach the walls, platform and ramp together. A durable black metal screen cover allows ample light through while preventing escape and can withstand high temperatures from basking lamps. The screen cover is also strong enough to hold most lamps (deep domes). An acrylic window panel allows for clear viewing into the basking area without the risk of shattering that might come with glass panels.
ASSEMBLY:
The Turtle Basker 5000 was designed to be assembled easily from individual pieces. The basker is packaged to minimize package volume and reduce shipping costs and is similar to an IKEA type build. Only a flathead screw driver is required for assembly. A step-by-step How to Build video will be provided to you after purchase.
RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS to OPTIMIZE THE BASKER:
The easiest way to add ample lighting underneath the basking area is to install a “Hidden LED Strip Light.” There are many options on the internet and in pet stores. Just make sure you measure the space where you plan to install it. This is sold separately.
Additionally, a deep dome lamp fixture with a Mercury Vapor Bulb is recommended. Make sure the basking area temperatures and UVB requirements (usually dictated by distance of bulb from turtle) are adequate for your turtle. This is sold separately.
I have your TB 4000, and I want you to know that you've created an excellent product. It's very similar to your latest model in this video. The assembly was very easy for my limited skills, and my two elderly RES and I just love it. My green babies are old and fat lol, and they can both fit comfortably when basking. I've gone through many basking apparatuses, and this by far is the best yet because it's so sturdy, and my babies are comfortable and happy. Thank you so much for such a wonderful product. If anyone is on the fence about buying this basker, I'm here to tell you that it is so worth it. I have the previous generation, the TB 4000, but from watching this video I can tell that the TB 5000 is just as great if not better
Beautiful tank setup love the Turtle dock 🐢
Thanks! :)
After seeing your videos I’ve finally decided to try and build my own atba!
However, the mercury vapor bulbs are forbidden here in the EU, so the good old exo-terra swamp spot will carry on over from the old basking spot (a turtle pier that can no longer hold the weight 😋)
I have one question tho, do you think the ET moss mat can work as flooring and eventually also on the ramp?
Will this fit a 75 gallon tank that doesn’t have the trim around it? I received a used tank and The top of my tank is just glass
The wife and i have learned so much from your videos. I'm trying to build this exact tank and i always have all the materials from past projects, except the mounting hardware. Could you please let me know what the hardware you used on the acrylic ?
When will these be available to purchase? Also any special pricing if 2 are purchased at the same time? Asking as I have 2 tanks for my turtles as they don’t live together.
Do you decorate the basking area or leave it alone?
This looks great! I have been following you for at least 3 or 4 years now I bet! My turtle tank has evolved alongside your turtle bioms! My next adventure is making my turtle a place where she can nest. Somewhere the dirt/sand won't fall into the tank. I am thinking on expanding her basking topper to have a nesting box and I believe you have done something similar in the past. Any tips or recommendations?
I have been thinking about this for a while. Still haven’t come up with an elegant design to implement yet. But in the past I incorporated a plastic bin with sand/soil as an extension to the basking area. It was not popular for my turtles but it had potential. Let me know if you figure out a good solution! Thanks for the channel support and being an awesome turtle parents :)
That thing cost more than my 75 gallon tank 🤣🤣
Is this still available?
Hey, are any of the TB 5000's going to be available anytime soon again? Cheers!
I’d be happy to see any of them restock. Nothing on the market really compares
Would this be suitable for a 10 inch female red eared slider?
Yes it would! The basking area and ramp is 12 inches wide.

How long does it take for the turtle to get comfortable to go up there on their own?
No more than two weeks. Otherwise I’d check temperatures and try putting your turtle in it to hint to them how great the new space is!

Is it ok to use tile in the basking area?
I would avoid anything too heavy in the basking area for long periods of time as it will stress the connectors. Let me know if you have any additional questions!
what else can you use? Ive heard some use vinyl tiles but the ones my store carries have a foam backing. Does the egg crate hurt their feet. I made my turtle one but havent put it in tank yet
@@Mustang09Hotty You can use a tile if you are building your own basker. just need to make sure it is strong enough. I used vinyl tyle (sticky on the back) on the Turtle Basker 5000.
@@LongLiveYourTurtlehow does the sticky not come off in water or be toxic

turtles shouldn’t be kept in tanks but.. alr
How? They live longer in captivity if you take care of them right.
What are you walfing about
I can kind of understand where you are coming from if you mean in like a protected outdoor pond or stock tub, but those tend to take up much more space.
