It’s not a good first balloon animal. I recommend that you first master the basic dog. If you can use a lesson, you’ll find it here:

When I got to the neck part it popped
Popping can be so frustrating. We have a youtube video that offers more explanation on how to prevent popping.

In general, check your fingernails for sharp edges that may catch on the balloon. Make sure that you are using good quality balloons that are not old and brittle. Finally, try under-inflating your balloons a bit at the start so they're softer and less likely to pop. Hope that helps. Good luck.
