I went to acura a while ago and programmed my original key, it was working just fine. then i told my friend to start my car and unintentionally he put the key fob in the key slot that not knowing we’re not supposed to do that. the key did not get stuck but that did take away the programming acura did on my key fob and car. Now, the car won’t lock or unlock from the key fob buttons but it is still programmed to the car, i know that because i had a locksmith come and text it out for me. what do y’all recommend ?
Same with mine. The fob never got stuck, but when I pulled the fob out the carriage was still stuck in the ON position. I used needle nose pliers like you said to pull out the carriage. Instead of a key fob protector, I made a little sign to tape over the slot when taking it in for service that says DO NOT USE FOB WILL JAM.
I havent had any issues with mine, my brother in law put my fob in and it didn't get stuck but we was in park and came right out. I usually just set it in the cupholder
I have a TL & I figured out that the small hole in the key-fob itself is for a key 🔑 ring, typically for the house key. After inserting key-fob in its dashboard slot, gently pulling on it by the house-key ring will easily slide it right out without any problem (BUT IT WILL NEVER COME OUT UNLESS THE CAR IS IN “PARK”).
The slot is for your fob if the battery is dead, car wont start if the batteries are dead in the fob, so you put fob in the slot and the car will start
This happens with most aftermarket fobs. If you get an oem one it wont happen. I have worked on several of these and had to stop buying the aftermarket fobs, or tell the customer not to use that slot if they want the cheaper fob.

Thank you so much, I just fixed mine with a pair of needle nose too, saved me from even more of a headache

Are you using a factory KeyFob or After market ?
Aftermarket
@@axleung1that’s why
He is using an aftermarket fob, they are slightly bigger than a oem.

So long story short don't put the fob in the slot. Got it. I like to keep them in my pocket anyway. Thanks.
Until it tells you to enter key in slot
I remember when I first got the car and played with the slot. Never gave me an issue. Just make sure the car is in Park.
Wow very helpful. Thank you for this!

The original poster is using a Factory Key fob. Not after market ?
This has nothing to do with aftermarket fobs. The key slot internals break and no longer ejects the fob properly. It's a common issue on these cars.
Just letting y’all know when you turn the car off the fob comes right out it’s a safety function.
It absolutely does not come out. Park, engine off, shit's still stuck. Even pliers won't get this shit out!
I bet you have an aftermarket key fob and it doesn't have the accura sign on it
He’s using aftermarket key fob that’s why. Keep with OEM ppl and you won’t have to deal with this. My key has never got stuck
Happened to me when i got it as my first car like 2 days ago it wouldn’t lock i had to pay sum guy 25$ to code the key again never doing that again💀
