Yes! Very friendly. We get by with a little help from our friends. (This was a real life example and that's what East did.) You are so right, it was very nice!
My guess is that East was looking for a way that the defenders can take 4 tricks to set the contract. He feared both his black Kings being finessed, in which case he needs two diamond tricks, not just one (perhaps South will try to finesse twice in diamonds?) So he tried to put South to the test immediately by underleading his CK, forcing South to guess - South has to fear West getting in with the CK, after which a diamond would spell doom for South. East could have instead reasoned the odds favored his CK being safe - South would need to hold CAJT to finesse him twice, and there are not enough entries in Dummy to do that AND also finesse the SK.
Agree with Ulrich. Moronic defence by RHO who should be cashing 2 Hearts and giving a Heart ruff at trick 3. Very hard if not impossible to make it now. Sensible bidding stops in 3S ( 1S-2C-2S-3S-End ).
I agree. I think East might have belatedly been trying to give West a ruff. Defense is hard and East definitely botched it. The key is taking advantage of their errors.
Samantha. Clear and concise teaching. Thank you
Thank you for watching!
Very friendly East player - no heart ruff and presented us a club trick😀

N is dummy so E can see that leading 8H into the K-7 is setting up the 7. KD seems like a better lead.

4S has zero play after h, h and h ruff. partner raising to 3S is also insane.
should dbl int for starters.
