Quality!! :-) MOTD3 when they do in depth discussions like this is so much better than MOTD1 or 2. Intelligent discussion along with good banter and funny quips. 10/10.
you do have a good manager there. hope he guides you to success as he did for us one thing Brendan needs is time his knowledge of the game is amazing good luck
i was thinking the same thing gerrard? keane and vieira were really good players not disputing that but gerrard has it all in his locker ball winner, strong in the tackle, work rate, passing both short and long, scored goals from every position distance angle possible, scored so many game winning and important goals and the ability to take any game by the scruff of the neck and turn it around best example of gerrard was the west ham fa cup final into injury time 30 odd yards out that goal was insane.
Was just about to type the exact same thing. How is he not in the midfield! I'm actually surprised Rodgers did not put Bergkamp in, seems like he would know whats up.
someone like brendan rodgers comes around ever so often. the more i look at the lad i realize just how intelligent he is. if i had money to bet i would put it on that man
I have been very impressed with not just Swansea who in my honest opinion was the best passing team last season bar none. But I have been impressed with the way many good young managers are starting to play a passing and move game. Started last year watching Ian Holloway (i know hes not o young) with Blackpool (just ran out of stamina near end of games) But Swansea, Norwich and Wigan last season retaining the ball better and in most cases performing the better even when losing.
Can't believe they all had AshleyCole instead of Irwin.....AshleyCole is completely 1-footed/Irwin both footed (many goals and assists with either foot and also in general play you can do so much more when you can use both), Cole rarely ever scored/Irwin scored more....Cole couldn't take free-kicks/Irwin could and also this is an all-time "PremierLeague" 11 and Irwin won double the amount of PL title's Cashley did and also Irwin was a lot more mature, had better discipline and conducted himself much better than Cole did.
Thank everyone for their responses. I used to be a Liverpool fan in the 1970s with John Toshack. There's a special relationship between Swansea and Liverpool and if Brendan is your new manager you have my best wishes because I know he will do a super job for you. The last two years at Swansea with Brendan Rodgers have been fabulous - BR does everything right. He is young but if you look at his experience with Chelsea and under Mourinho he's ready for a top job. See Planet Swans for more info
I'm not a United or Liverpool fan and I'd say Gerrard is a great player but Scholes is on a different level to anything this country has produced in 40 years.
Gibbo118 In terms of PL, I'd put them level. Problem is that they occupy the same AM position and therefore don't complement each other in the same team. Very tricky picking an all time XI as there are so many great attacking players but not enough spaces in the team.
He's a great manager, hopefully he can handle the pressure. He might just make me enjoy watching Liverpool play which is something Kenny could never have done.
That's the problem with finishing mid table, there will be a lot of teams looking to get up there. Liverpool had a great season in the cups but losing the fa cup final made it look bad.
Yes, I agree. Gerrard is underrated. He basically the engine of Liverpool for all these years. Never mind if they did't pick Gerrard. We all Liverpool fans know what Gerrard has done for the club.
I am not a liverpool fan, but i am really excited about the tiki taka style and what Brendan rogers can innovate into the side. I feel a top 4 finish for l'pool. Top will be Arsenal, Utd, City, L'pool, Chelsea and the rest (Arsenal fan)
Gerrard is so underrated... inspired liverpool to champions league victory, SINGLE handily won Liverpool the Fa cup in 2006, he has been a dynamite for Liverpool seasin in and out What else do you expect from the man?
12:25 , Gives me more hope for Liverpool next year. I honestly hope Brendan Rogers is successful at Anfield. He seems like a good guy, Plus he can speak Spanish.
I can see what you are saying. if swansea got a good offer for vorm it would be hard to turn down but do utd need a goalkeeper after spending 20 mil on de gea. cant see vorm going to utd to warm the bench but if we did lose him it would have to be a really good offer for us
Imagine if they'd asked Rodgers to do this all time XI after becoming Liverpool manager? "A lot of people forget just how great... Djibril Cisse actually was..."
Obviously I was gutted when BR left but looks like Swansea are going to get a good new (probably foreign) manager. Also seems Brendan is keen on building up the already good links between our two clubs and letting some of Liverpool youngsters come the Swans on loan. I am certain Sigurdsson is going to Anfield - the Iceman is a legend with the Swans after only a handful of games. You will be top four with Siggy - I have no doubt. May even put a few bob on Liverpool to win the Premier League!
Gotta give it to you swansea fans. I havn't seen one have a go at liverpool nor rodgers over this whole thing and for you to say that tops it off. I hope liverpool and swansea have a good relationship in the future because it looks like that might just happen. YNWA Swansea
I think you have to understand that he's in his thirty's now and you will see him laying back a lot more now rather than being in behind the strikers, hence why we're getting siggurdsson
Hard to argue with most of the picks, but gary neville are they for real? he was muck and was carried by a great united team. I am a liverpool fan just so u know
Scholes has won less individual awards because of the fact that he has been VASTLY underrated for the majority of his career. Just look at the comments from almost any of the great players and see how many of them hold Scholes as the best midfielder of his generation. Not saying Gerrard is bad, but Scholes is one of the best midfielers to have ever played the game. And that's a view Guardiola, Zidane, Xavi, Lippi, Mourinho, Wenger and MANY more share.
The more I read about Brendan Rodgers the more I feel he will turn Liverpool around. I hope he gets the time. I'm talking at least 3/4 seasons to turn Liverpool FC into the best team in the country. He won't do it spending stupid money, he'll do it because he is one of the brightest, modern thinking managers around. If he proves to be successful he won't be quick to manage anywhere else because he won't want to. He wants Liverpool winning through good football not a bottomless pit of money.
You are quite right. Liverpool didn't turn up for the Cup Final, therefore the Carling Cup doesn't represent a good season. In all honesty if Liverpool had won the FA Cup and finished 8th, thats still not good enough. Football is about money unless you have an incredible manager who can blend a squad of expensive players with inexpensive players and players in the youth setup. Liverpool have the manager to do that. They'll need to buy but they have players there that can step up. Its not all bad
looking at these comments from a year ago and looking now where rodgers has put liverpool in touching distance of the title with 4 games to go do make me chuckle a little!! all in hindsight of course
yea. if they are willing to stump up the cash it doesn't matter really. if some club are willing to pay big bucks for our players good luck to them that's all i got to say. profit helps us build our team and club considering everything we been through over the years
Scholes has been on teams with Cantona, Ronaldo, Rooney, Giggs, Beckham, Keane and Schmeichel. It would be a bad reflection if he hadn't won anything. Gerrard has never had the same quality team around him. There have been good players, but too few and far between. For the record, I'd rather have Gerrard's drive and shooting over Scholes' passing, but he's among the best midfielders of his time. They both are really.
They were all good teams but for me STEVEN GERRARD has to get in there. The best midfielder to ever play in the premier league he deserves a PL winners medal but even if he never wins the prem he's still a LEGEND!!!!! YNWA!!!!!
Brendan Rodgers seems a very inteligent man with a good football brain, LFC could do a lot worse.... I think he would work well at Liverpool and he's british which is a bonus
18:43 Look at Brendans face. I wonder what he really thinks about Liverpools midfield. Furthermore as a Liverpool fan it hurts so much for pundit to say that a newly promoted side will beat us and then to see that belief come true in reality is just devastating.
Ok we'll wait and see shall we! Are you trying to say if Man utd made a offer for Vorm he'll chose to stay with swansea and rodgers??? Swansea are the same level as Blackpool simple as that - ill reply at the end of august and we'll see how many players have left then.
Gerrard is class but im afraid he isn't among the very few players who can fully control the game at Don Level (Xavi, Pirlo, Scholes), this is the true art of a master, a few more goals and individual awards for standing out in a team with less star players don't mean jack.
Liverpool were guilty of not beating teams from the middle and bottom of the Prem. They did the double over Chelsea and Everton, were the only team to knock Chelsea out of a cup comp. Played well in games against Arsenal and Man City. They knocked Man City and Man Utd out of cup comps. Hit the woodwork an unbelievable amount of times. I know they had no European games to think of but that worked against us. I'm not making excuses....we were poor but Liverpool are not as far away as you may think
are you crazy? Gerrard just signed a new contract for the club he loves. I promise you he wont even consider leaving now. Hes 32, hell always be remembered as a legend everywhere for remaining a one club player. Regarding swansea, you'll be fine Rodgers has done wonders with you to get you 11th in the league in your first season, as long as you keep playing your style of footbal youll go from strength to strength. I hope sinclair comes to the mighty reds
Thing is though Gerrard has more in his locker than Scholes, Paul isn't a great tackler like Gerrard and he isn't the type of player who can win a game all by himself plus Gerrard can play more or less any where while he can't.
lol, without question scholes is the best midfielder to have played in the premier league. Plus you cant compare gerrad / scholes / lampard. All play in a very different role in central midfield.
Quality!! :-)
MOTD3 when they do in depth discussions like this is so much better than MOTD1 or 2. Intelligent discussion along with good banter and funny quips. 10/10.
Always liked swansea. I hope they will be a prem regular. By far the best team in wales and ALWAYS will be. - Birmingham City fan.
:(
Steven Gerrard is the best midfielder to ever play in the premier league in my opinion.
I bet BR would have a different opinion now!
+Kopite 1906 not really scholes is better (even though im not from england)
Not a chance, excellent midfielder but no way the best.
What happened to Colin? Easily the best football presenter ever
He was a total twat hated by fans and pundits alike so they sacked him.
Worst presenter ever.
@@peddleandcrank does championship footie on quest on sky.
@@ay613 exactly
@@peddleandcrank seems fine at least now.
@@ay613 hmm
And more importantly character
No Gerrard,No Lampard??
You see, even back then "Mr Character" (Rodgers) didn't go for 'goals' in his top team choice!
what? he had zola ronaldo henry and shearer up top. lol. the presenter was talking shit
swancelona !!!
awesome
from chelsea fan
you do have a good manager there. hope he guides you to success as he did for us one thing Brendan needs is time his knowledge of the game is amazing good luck

Scholes has been the heartbeat of easily the best team in England over the last 2 decades.
Was just about to type the exact same thing. How is he not in the midfield! I'm actually surprised Rodgers did not put Bergkamp in, seems like he would know whats up.
someone like brendan rodgers comes around ever so often. the more i look at the lad i realize just how intelligent he is. if i had money to bet i would put it on that man
Correct about what if I may ask?
Welcome Brendan.... Respect to the swans
Underrated in term of contributions. He is definitely the most complete player we've seen
I have been very impressed with not just Swansea who in my honest opinion was the best passing team last season bar none. He had no idea when he asked the question "Will you being going to Anfield?" how true that was
I bet Brendan would have swapped Scholes out for Gerrard these days :)
I actually KNEW you would say that Simon.
no bergkamp aswell?
He's a great manager, hopefully he can handle the pressure. He might just make me enjoy watching Liverpool play which is something Kenny could never have done.
Brendan Rodgers impresses me the more and more I hear him.
Good point!

yea i would say joe allen is swansea's best midfielder by far and Liverpool should bid for him this summer!
Scholes wasn't captain of Manchester United at any point
(for a considerable time) however he was instrumental in winning the ucl twice
If he does come to Liverpool I would feel gutted for Swansea what he has done with their club is fantastic
checking up on our soon to be manager :) legend in the making perhaps?
Also no mention of lampard, the first midfielder to score 150 goals in the premier league
Tough call to leave out Bergkamp. He was such a great player.
How can they over look gerrard, consistent powerhouse of a goal scoring midfielder for more than ten years now. SHOULD be in it!!
His philosophy is impressive and the way he goes about his business is wonderful as well I think he will be good for Liverpool good luck Brendan YNWA
question for swansea fans, Are you going to boo rodgers when liverpool play you at home this season if so why ?
BR sounds reaaaaaaly good and i think he will be amazing at liverpool
Including Gary Neville as right-back just tells you the whole story...as a Liverpool fan I'm worried...
Imagine if they'd asked Rodgers to do this all time XI after becoming Liverpool manager? "A lot of people forget just how great... Djibril Cisse actually was..."
yea if we get a top class striker who can score 30 goals plus who knows as we had one of the best defences in the league last season! Top 4 is a must!
Obviously I was gutted when BR left but looks like Swansea are going to get a good new (probably foreign) manager.

where the hell is heskey?
No gerrard???
how things change...
Obviously Brendan is the only one who knows how to set up a team.
No giggs?
It's kinda funny how they talked about Liverpool a lot.
Brendans team choice is fantastic i cant fault it.
He sounded like Rafa Benitez when he spoke spanish
underrated ? he is rated very highly
"More importantly character" - BR the G.O.A.T
gerrard?
It's called Barclays Premier league...And Swansea are certainly worthy of being in it
In a double pivot? Not chance. To compare him to anyone in those squads, you'd have to compare him to Zola.

Without Steven Gerrard or Lampard ???!!! WTF
I hope Liverpool hires Rodgers. I can't wait to see them in the championship.
That wish went well. 😁😁😁
You probably wouldn't have went behind in those games if you had Viera or Keane.
i like what im hearing from this guy. welcome to liverpool :)
This looks a bit silly after what Wolves did to Swansea today :(
Wow Swansea have it Hard!
Hope gylfi sigurdson comes to liverpool now
right you are
For the Spanish - 13:10
You mean, No Gerrard??? Best player ever in the modern Premier League.
Can't see Ronaldo or Henry tracking back much (Rodgers' all time Pl XI)
carried the england team through the euros games
lol, without question scholes is the best midfielder to have played in the premier league.
Plus you cant compare gerrad / scholes / lampard. All play in a very different role in central midfield.
