Thanks for inspiring me to go out ant get my own frame (mine was from Tractor Supply, but essentially the same). Can't say enough how handy the carry all is. Love the channel. I have a number of acers and do a lot of wood cutting for my own use. I did sell wood in my younger days, but never at the level you have reached. Way to go.
I think they will. The Polaris Ranger bed is about the same size but is only rated for 500 lbs whereas this carryall is rated for 1,000 lbs. more firewood at one time!
That's a pretty strong build. You could probably add a small winch to the top which would make it simple to drag large rounds onto the carryall. I added a anderson plug to the rear of my tractor to help run a winch on a log trailer we built years ago. Works great. I've been thinking about building one of these, thanks for the nudge.
Super nice job on your carryall project... I recently finished my carryall using the same frame by Tarter USA. My unit is 5 feet wide & I don't use a quick hitch, therefor NO holes are cut in the backboard. I used DIYCarryall Parts 1 & 2 by Martin off his channel as a reference, but modified his design to suit my needs. I used (1) less board on my swing out side walls as well. I did my hitch recvr plate a bit differently too. I used 1/4" steel plate X 3" wide X 32" long & recessed it into the tailboard using (8) 1/2" carriage bolts all the way across. Basically I should be able to pull the Empire State bldg off it's foundation with it! My headache rack is installed & is ready for my painted JD green " advanced steel " with the diamond pattern to install for hanging my chains & other stuff. I built (2) chainsaw holsters on the backside of the back wall with a pair of schedule 40 pipe on each side of them for my tools... I also have (4) H/D D-Rings, all painted & ready for the install, those will be mounted to my skid plates for throwing straps over tall loads... This project is 90% + done with $639.00 invested, my labor... Once again, job well done on your carryall build & thanks for sharing this... Bill on the Hill, Vermont... :~)
Good job Adam, you'll find many uses for it. You will carry a lot of wood now front and back. I built one a few years back and put some box section on the bottom and built half a carryall that slides into the main one. It allows you to carry more wood but I use it to you carry all the chainsaws, fuel, chains, log tongs etc while still carrying a full load of wood.
Great idea you should be able to haul all kinds of things with that. I’m always having to get the Ranger out along with the tractor makes for a lot of walking when working alone. Good job brother.
I think this carryall will be nice for loading dry firewood in and then with the quick hitch I can just drop it in the garage. I won’t have to stack it twice.
I never thought about the quick hitch hitting the back of the carry all. You fixed that problem easily. Let's see how much wood you can get in a trip now 👍🚜
Adam, nice job!. I’m glad you took this build on and appreciate the affordability and versatility. You will find it is so much easier to load wood at ground level (if not running it thru the splitter first) than having to pick up to waist height like the utv cargo box.The hitch you will find is a great addition not only to pull the wood splitter (and load carry all right from splitter discharge) but other things as well. Sorry I didn’t give you a heads up about the vertical boards spacing for attaching the 3 point. I attached 2x4s vertical before installing the face boards to negate the 3 notches. The quick hitch is great. Something to add would be pick up a set of 3 point quick hitch adapter bushings to tighten up the lower pins. It looks like you went with cat 2 pins? They make adapter bushings for both cat 1 and cat 2. Nice job and keep the vids coming!
Nice, have a old carry all want to build like this. Will put casters on bottom so can be rolled in shed and stored. Good project and very useful for firewood
Love it ! That’s saving money for unneeded attachments . You could have really saved if ya got Davey to slice you up some locust. Good job , the scabbard will make the saw easily accessible. That’s a great helper you two built, it’s handy for so many things including a sharpening station when cutting in the woods. You came up with a good design and remedied the hook up problem! Looks good. I want to add one of these to my large tractor. You were moving quickly but it looked to me like you had the driver bit in the drill and the drill bit in the impact drill. It's best to have the drill bit in the drill and the driver in the impact. The impact drill will set screws much easier and easier on the tool.
Hometown Acres I may change mine, I went with straight sides when I built mine, lil wobbly. My 3 point hitch on my Massey 1045 doesn’t lift it high enough. Going to drill lower holes where they attach! Not a problem until I go uphill!

I built one of these last year. I put removable sides in on mine if I needed to remove them. I can cut in the woods and carry out 1/3 cord each trip. A lot more wood then the bucket can carry. Today I’m actually copying your Polaris dump side walls for my Polaris x2 atv. Smaller box but it can carry 400 pounds which should be 1/6 cord of wood for the places I can’t bring the tractor. I’m curious about the quick hitch for the 3 pt. I like the idea for $150 I should get one and try it out.
Yeah between the carryall on the back and loading 3 or 4 logs on the pallet forks on the front I think I should be able to get close to a full cord of wood on the tractor in 1 trip

Looking good, buddy. Your sides are nice (nicer than my reclaimed gate sides, LOL). I got that same porter cable drill. Good stuff. Curious why you only went 4ft wide? I went 5ft which about same width as the tractor, so it works well and got more capacity.
I wanted to keep it as nimble as possible back in the woods and for getting in and out of the garage. I plan on using it to load full of seasoned firewood and then just dropping it in the garage to burn in the woodstove. That way I don’t have to unstack it either
Haha I really liked the diagonal sides. I’ve seen other people do horizontal sides but if you do diagonal you can attach 1 end of the board to the bottom and the other to the back. It feels much sturdier. The horizontal sides only attach to the back of the carryall. Much bigger chance of your side walls springing out

Hi Garny, I use a gopro hero 7 for all of my footage, the microphone on it is good not great. I have a DJI Mavic air I use whenever I want some drone footage. I simply use iMovie that you can get for free from the Apple App Store for all my editing. It has its limitations but it allows to me achieve 95% of what I want to do. As far as time involved editing. It depends. Some videos I can whip together in as little as an hour. Some take 2-4 hours depending on on how many different shots I have in the video. Picking out music etc. I hope you decide to start a channel. It takes a while in the beginning but It’s fun watching it grow. It is very rewarding work in my opinion

Planing to buy one of these tractorboxes (heckcontainer called here in Germany). But yea, the Price is about 400-600€ for my size. One question to your quick adapter: How is it preventing something to jump of when you drive, lets say over a bump?
So there’s levers you pull to lock it in. I didn’t lock it in in the video but when I go take it out to work in a future video I will make sure to show how it secures to the tractor. Thanks for the great question

I just finished building this last night for my Kubota L2501. I used 2x12s and the Tractor supply frame. The functionality can’t be beat.

Yeah it will probably only hold about half as much as a trailer but what you lose in capacity you gain with maneuverability.

Ahhh wish I would have thought of adding the 2x4 vertical spacers. That would have been a much simpler fix

Adding angle iron to the inside would make it a lifetime build. Tons of extra strength for cheap.
I used this design, going to add some 90deg plates on the inside corners. A threshold on the front lip wouldn’t hurt either.
