Mr. Warren Vache you forgot one HERO on the Cornet / Trumpet: Warren Vache. Amazing how you can give us the SOUND of so many famous trumpet players. You are really what we call a Professional who really is the "BOSS" over his instrument. Chapeau!
This is a musician who knows what is all about and can explained it. He can tell us and play like he did in my city : Mar del Plata - Argentina. Thank You Warren.
Tks. Well said and done. I played trumpet for over 65 years with poor lips and never got good control. Still I had a lots of fun. Switched to tenor sax when I grew older .But last week I unpacked my old Selmer K Modified and will emphasize on melodic ballads. Love it. Keep on blowing pls.
What a great find. I know Warren since we were college contemporaries. He followed his dream and gave it to that crazy Mistress we call The Trumpet. proud to know you Warren. You will never guess who this is but you have been a great player since the first time I heard you and your mellow now lol ~
I'm an orchestrator so it was good to hear this! Jabbo Smith I had never heard or read about him1 Thanks ! My love is contemporary serious music "classical" everybody after Boulez,Penderesky,Ligeti. But I know serious innovation has happened in Jazz and I need to use it. Can't wait to hear Faddis andBowie,Snooky Clark Terry names I don't know. Thanks so much for this brief talk I really feel there's a whoe new world out there for me to explore!I'm a pianist and violinist but I want to write for trumpet too and all the other brass and percussion instruments!
Thanks Warren. This is fantastic. Learned about you only recently from Geoff Haylock, Melbourne, VIC, Australia. I am now a big fan. If you get the chance can you please do one on "Improvisation". Thanks mate.
When you watch and listen to the end of this segment you can imagine the scene change and a new programme host saying to you: "Well, you can now see what a great trumpeter Warren Vache is himself!" :) Did you think about it?
The history of trumpet in America is like the history of noise. I think of all the recordings of beautiful band arrangements of say Frank DeVol or Nelson Riddle spoilt by the embarrassing screeching trumpets in the brass sections. I think trumpeters join drummers and electric rock guitarists as those who should never had entered the music profession. They should have become, say, automotive panel beaters or racing car drivers instead. As the saying goes: Empty vesicles make the loudest noise.

I love Warren Vache's playing. One of the greats. He is being very modest here. Like that he is playing lots of pentatonic licks.
Thank You Warren for the great art. Donald Fransson, Sweden.

Very well done video!
gorgeous
Great class Warren - thanks! You didn't mention Wild Bill Davison - I can do him (a bit).
I feel like I understand music fairly well after studying in college, but jazz is still pretty much a mystery to me.
Hey Warren, class. love, sandy.
Great video. I would love to hear his opinion of Wild Bill Davison--and demonstrate a chorus.
Wish they would have mentioned Fats Navarro. First true bop player!
What cornet is he using here? Very nice.

There have been many great trumpet players out there, but Harry James is still The Maestro, not just one of the gang.
